Abstract: Building the Internet of Behaviors (IOB) obviously requires capturing human behavior. Sensor input from eye tracking has been widely used for profiling in market research, adaptive user interfaces, and other smart systems, but requires dedicated hardware. The wide spread of webcams in consumer devices like phones, tablets, notebooks, and smart TVs has fostered eye tracking with commodity cameras. In this paper, we present a systematic review across the IEEE and ACM databases -- complemented by snowballing and input from eye tracking experts at CHI 2021 -- to list and characterize publicly available webcam eye trackers that estimate the point-of-regard on devices with no additional hardware. Information from articles was supplemented by searching author websites and code repositories, and contacting authors. 16 eye trackers were found that can be used. The restrictions regarding license terms and technical performance are presented, enabling developers to choose an appropriate software for their IoB application. Collapse

Abstract: Integrating digital technologies offer companies a range of potentials for optimizing business processes, exploring new business models and collaborating along value chains to co-create value. However, this integration increases complexity, especially within SMEs that lack extensive resources to drive data transformation. GAIA-X offers potential solutions in form of federated services as a low-threshold way to participate in federated data ecosystems. Thus, in this paper we survey the current state of research on GAIA-X by means of a literature review extracting and collecting design knowledge as well as to prepare further implementation within the scope of our research project. Therefore, we build a concept matrix in which we differentiate the identified body of knowledge by three concepts with 18 characteristic expressions in total. Our analysis of the identified papers highlights architectural approaches for designing a GAIA-X compatible data ecosystem, augmented by additional factors to consider when designing these ecosystems. Abstract: Despite the intense efforts to substantiate the value co-creation capability of IT service, current approaches only partially address the complex and dynamic nature of the IT value-creation process. Popular IT service frameworks such as ITIL and COBIT mainly focus on discrete customer-centric practices and processes and overlook the importance of a holistic and systematic approach to understanding value co-creation. The research follows an interpretive approach to building a framework based on a case study and grounded theory technique in a higher educational institution. The initial findings reveal the micro, meso and macro levels of value co-creation in the IT service ecosystem. This research contributes to research on value creation in the context of IT service by providing the holistic approach of the service ecosystem to value creation, which has been barely investigated. Abstract: In recent years, video games have been on the rise as entertainment goods, leading to a growing interest by practitioners, researchers, and, of course, consumers alike. While a few unusually successful video games produce overall high revenues, most released games struggle to break even. Hence, there is an urgent need to better understand what distinguishes financially successful games from nonsuccessful video games. Accordingly, several researchers have called for investigations into the drivers of the financial success of video games. However, empirical studies within this respect are still lacking. Based on longitudinal data of 351 video games, the current study strives to fill this research gap by investigating the relative importance of potential success factors for the short-term and long-term financial success of video games. The results of multiple regression analyses confirm that search qualities such as brand popularity, reviews, and awards as well as experience qualities such as graphics, sound, and game duration significantly drive financial success in terms of the total number of sold video games in Europe. Consequently, managers in the video game industry can boost their chances for the production of a successful video game by focusing on these factors. Collapse

Abstract: Digitalization has brough about new services to assist navigation, and first autonomous vessels are already in use. This poses also challenges to the fairways, i.e. routes on sea that are designed to secure maritime traffic with physical navigation aids. How should fairway be augmented in future? And, most importantly, how can we make it happen?We use Finnish territorial waters as an example to illustrate how on-going changes of seafaring are taken into account in design of autonomous maritime infrastructure by experts. We use multi-staged Delphimethod to derive the elements of importance for safeguarding autonomous maritime traffic.We suggest starting to improve services at critical points of present fairways. Authorities should ensure the integrity of data and services of merchant traffic first, and thereafter establish jointly an open platform where recreational user can design, try, implement, and test services to their specific needs. This reasoning stems from theoretical underpinnings of communities of interest in self-regulating their environment. The platform could also provide a viable economic solution for speeding up new valuable mobile service designs. Collapse

Abstract: Platform governance is critical for the success of digital platform ecosystems (DPEs). However, we know little about the governance of decentralized DPEs. Studies on centralized DPEs find that platform owners decide about, implement, and adapt the governance practices over the lifecycle of a platform ecosystem. It remains unclear what the growing body of literature on decentralized platform ecosystems reveals about their governance. To close this gap, we conducted a structured literature review of Information Systems literature. In 54 studies, we find five key dimensions of governance of decentralized DPEs. We contribute to literature by contrasting the governance practices, mechanisms, and processes of centralized DPEs and decentralized DPEs. We highlight three main differences: Ex-ante definition rather than an evolution of governance, distributed and overlapping roles (platform founders, platform enhancers, platform validators), and collective decision-making by fractional platform owners. Abstract: Digital platform research focuses on the mechanisms in digital platform ecosystems and the dynamics between platform owners, complementors, and end-users. Recent studies are beginning to look beyond the boundaries of narrow platform ecosystems. The development of the European Union's DigitalMarkets Act (DMA) is a revelatory case to study this wider perspective. Hundreds of actors participated in discourses on the regulation, which aims to regulate so-called gatekeeper platforms that are allegedly powerful, unfair to platform users, and incontestable for competitors. By means of a critical discourse analysis, we coded 1720 contributions on the proposed and adopted DMA between June 2020 and July 2022. We identify 72 positions and 14 narratives along five discourses. Our study creates a better understanding of a wider perspective of platform ecosystem structure that goes beyond the triangle of platform owner, complementors, and end users. Collapse

Abstract: Digital transformation is driving demand for information technology (IT) professionals. Addressing the underrepresentation of women in IT is a promising way to expand the pool of potential candidates. This research aims to determine how women without IT-specific knowledge can potentially contribute to reducing the gender gap in the German IT sector, especially for small and medium-sized enterprises. A case study with qualitative interviews within a medium-sized IT service company was conducted to answer the research question. The results reveal that targeted job advertisements can successfully introduce women from other sectors to the possibility of a career change in the IT environment. In this way, new female employees can be recruited, reducing the gender gap. Collapse

Abstract: Wikis are ubiquitous in organisational and private use and provide a wealth of textual data. Maintaining the currency of this textual data is important and difficult, requiring large manual efforts. Previous approaches from literature provide valuable contributions for assessing the currency of structured data or whole wiki articles but are unsuitable for textual wiki data like single sentences. Thus, we propose a novel approach supporting the assessment and improvement of the currency of textual wiki data in an automated manner. Grounded on a theoretical model, our approach makes use of data retrieved from recently published news articles and a language model to determine the currency of fact-based wiki sentences and suggest possible updates. Our evaluation conducted on 543 sentences from six wiki domains shows that the approach yields promising results with accuracies over 80% and thus is well-suited to support assessment and improvement of the currency of textual wiki data. Abstract: A holistic cost assessment of cloud computing ar-chitectures is currently hampered by the lack of assessment methods and the absence of a standardized and comprehensive total cost model. This creates uncertainty about cost developments of concrete scenarios and architectural changes. This article proposes a total cost of ownership model for cloud computing, covering the cost of adoption, procurement, migration, operation, usage, and exit. We evaluated our model in multiple application scenarios and against other models. Our model has shown to be substantially more comprehensive and applicable than other available models for cloud computing. Thus, our model can be useful both in practice and in research. We will demonstrate that our model can increase cost transparency and improve decision support. Collapse
