Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has created a worldwide state of emergency, triggering extensive digital innovation within healthcare institutions to recover from the disrupted services caused by the pandemic. The purpose of this research is to explore the phenomena of digital innovation during these extraordinary conditions and to understand the impacts during the pandemic and beyond. To do so, we conducted a systematic literature review by analyzing 130 research articles across research disciplines that were published during the pandemic. We found that the innovation processes were highly iterative and focused on rapid diffusion to address the urgent need for stabilizing and recovering disrupted services. This short-term perspective may result in adverse impacts beyond the pandemic, such as increased inequity. Moreover, we found that some environmental factors were highly adaptive to the pandemic, whereas others were less so. We suggest that organizations should focus on the latter when building resilience to future pandemics. Collapse

Abstract: Online equity markets have significantly changed the dynamics of connecting angels and individual equity investors to new ventures that seek early-stage capital. However, for those early-stage investors, information pointing to the success of business-to-business (B2B) new ventures (B2BNVs) is scattered and disconnected. This paper focuses on social media narratives (SMNs) as a source of insight for such investors and proposes that predicting a B2BNV's likelihood of success requires a comparative view, i.e., a comparison of its SMNs with those of its competitors and customers. We expect that higher (lower) lingual similarity between the SMNs of an early-stage B2BNV and those of its prospective customers (competitors) predict its success. Using a longitudinal panel of 574 B2BNVs resulting in more than 2,700 venture-round observations, we find that a comparative view of a venture's SMNs can give early-stage investors reliable predictions about the B2BNV's ability to manage its market presence and its success in later stages. Our models show that a comparative view of SMNs increases the accuracy of predicting a B2BNV's later-stage fundraising success by an average of 15%. Furthermore, predictive models can reliably point to a successful market presence in later stages, including the landing of customers, the winning of awards and competitions, the receiving of endorsements, the generating of revenue, and the successful patenting of products. Our study contributes to existing literature that focuses on the business impacts of social media by demonstrating the usefulness of comparative linguistics in social media analytics, i.e., comparing the firm's social media communications to those of its competitors and business customers in the prediction of the entrepreneurial firm's success. Abstract: Misinterpretations and faulty use of Software Development Method (SDM) practices and principles are identified pitfalls in Software Development (SD). Previous research indicates cases with method adoption and use failures; one reason could be the SDM Cargo Cult (CC) behavior, where SD organizations claim to be agile but not doing agile. Previous research has suggested the SDM CC framework as an analytical tool. The aim of this paper is to refine the SDM CC framework and empirically test this version of the framework. We use data from an ethnographical study on three SD teams’ Daily Scrum Meetings (DSM). The empirical material was collected through observations, interviews, and the organization’s business documents. We uncovered twelve CC situations in the SD teams’ use of the DSM practice, structured into seven categories of SDM deviations: bringing irrelevant information, canceling meetings, disturbing the team, receiving unclear information, bringing new requirements, problem-solving, and task distribution. Abstract: The implementation of digital transformation often fails. This paper aims to identify what kinds of organizational issues exist in a leading technology company regarding the implementation of information technologies. The theories are Socio-Economic Approach to Management (SEAM) and Socio-Technical Approach. The research method is a case study of OMRON Corporation. The research findings include dysfunctions and the impact of IT and digital technologies: The teammate's work in the department needs to be more cohesive, and there needs to be more communication and coordination between teammates. This may cause a delay in new product development and quality problems later; in in troducing new materials, problems often occur among the R&D department, materials procurement department, and quality department. The social factors of these dysfunctions are the organization is too vertically divided and sectionalism is strong. The managers should lead the transformation with entrepreneurship. The technical aspects are the tremendous success of the company's past technological development. It could have been more objective toward product development that emphasizes too much technology and function on the product. The contribution to theory is applying SEAM and STA theory to clarify the organizational problem in this research. The contribution to practice is analyzing the factor of dysfunction and the impact of implementing IT and data technologies. Collapse

Abstract: Despite the potential benefits that digital transformation can bring, the success rate of its implementation remains low at only 30% (BCG, 2020). The situation is even more critical and challenging in a highly competitive manufacturing industry. The dynamic environment with increasing uncertainties leads to decreased communication between departments, thus diminishing the advantages of joint venture cooperation.This paper analyzes the challenges of implementing information technology (IT) and organizational reform in an international joint venture through the perspective of the Human-Digital Competitiveness Model (Monod, et al., 2021) Since three dimensions of the Model can analysis those problems in comprehensive way. It adopts a qualitative methodology by conducting a case study (Yin, 2017) through interviews with 17 staff and related party-in-interests from both sides, as well as corporate observation.Theoretically, this paper contributes to a thorough analysis of the challenges of digital transformation and organizational changes within companies from three different dimensions. Practically, it contributes to an understanding of the impact that IT and digital technologies have on the joint venture and offers insights into how business processes can be innovated to enhance competitive advantages. Abstract: With society's wide-scale adoption of information technology, significant information about borrowers is distributed across various parties, information that can be jointly used to improve credit scoring. However, use of such information faces many challenges, such as the problems of preserving privacy and information redun­ dancy. To address these challenges in leveraging multi-source information for credit scoring, we propose a decentralized multi-party method based on logistic regression. Specifically, we formulate a logistic regression model using the vertical federated learning paradigm. To preserve data privacy during multi-party collaborative model training, we use additively homomorphic encryption based on the second-order Taylor series expansion of the loss function and its gradient. To address information redundancy and to improve the performance of the credit scoring model, we use the proposed HE-DPGD algorithm to estimate the distributed coefficients in a privacy-preserving setting. Empirical evaluation shows that the proposed method can leverage information from multiple parties securely and effectively. Collapse

Abstract: While monetary rewards have been widely used by online platforms to motivate user-generated content (UGC) contributions, users may not always demonstrate the expected behaviors. Unintended consequences of reward policies, exemplified by unchanged or reduced UGC contributions, may occur. Through two natural experiments, this study investigates the implications of providing users with an incentive structure that rewards users' continued contribution according to the volume of UGC. Using a unique data set on two completion-contingent incentive programs from a popular online aesthetic medicine platform, we examine user responses to reward thresholds. We found that after users reach a threshold to obtain a monetary reward, they are less likely to continue contributing UGC, suggesting a minimal-effort effect. Our findings indicate that social approval from peers helps to mitigate unintended user responses to monetary reward policies. We also observed that monetary rewards primarily improve the quality and website traffic of low-to moderate-quality contributions. Collapse

Abstract: An increasing number of consumers enjoy shopping through mobile devices. When consumers use a mobile app, they can choose whether to log in with their accounts. We argue that pre-login search plays a critical role in affecting consumers’ purchase decisions, although it has largely been overlooked in the literature. Using clickstream data, we adopt different econometric models to examine whether and how pre-login search affects the likelihood of purchase. Our results show that pre-login search behaviors are as important as post-login search to consumers’ purchase decisions. We also demonstrate that consumers’ purchase propensity increases at a diminishing rate with an increasing search effort during both pre- and post-login periods. Based on recommender systems (RSs) and paradox of choice theory, our results contribute to the burgeoning literature on consumer behavior in mobile commerce and provide novel insights to the strategic usage of RSs. Finally, we discuss theoretical and managerial implications. Collapse

Abstract: Multi-channel human-computer interaction offers a new perspective for optimization research in the digital museum, though there is no empirical evidence on how these factors affect cognition. This paper conducted a controlled experiment using the audio guide as a breakthrough point, aiming to determine the cognitive changes before and after the audio-visual dual-channel interaction. The results demonstrate that adding the auditory channel brought more cognitive load but not better cognitive outcomes. This paper evaluated the reasons behind it and noted that designing channels based solely on technical feasibility is undesirable, with suggestions pro­ posed for museum practitioners and platform developers.
