Abstract: The healthcare industry is currently going through a digital transformation, and the implementation of blockchain technology has emerged as a promising solution to overcome many of the difficulties faced by healthcare financing systems. This research paper presents a systematic review of the existing literature to recognize the issues that healthcare financing systems are currently facing and how they can be addressed through blockchain solutions. The review also identifies potential solutions and frameworks proposed for the implementation of blockchain solutions. The study has revealed that the combination of blockchain technology and machine learning has high potential in developing a smooth healthcare financing system that is secure, accessible, and has data integrity. The use of blockchain can provide a secure and transparent platform for storing and sharing healthcare data, leading to improved accuracy and efficiency of healthcare financing systems. By integrating blockchain 3.0 with healthcare 4.0 processes and technologies, a real-time and reliable blockchain-based healthcare system for financing can be developed that is highly secure, transparent, and can execute transactions on any IoT-enabled device. The study has revealed that the Ethereum blockchain network is the most suitable platform to implement a distributed ledger to address the challenges faced by healthcare financing systems. This is due to the various applications of the platform already being used within remote medical healthcare operations and other healthcare processes as found in the literature. The study's findings are expected to contribute to the ongoing discussion on the digital transformation of the healthcare sector through emerging technologies. Collapse

Abstract: There is an exponential growth of the use of AI applications in organisations. Due to the machine learning capability of artificial intelligence (AI) applications, it is critical that such systems are used continuously in order to generate rich use data that allow them to learn, evolve and mature into a better fit for their user and organisational context. This research focuses on the actual use of conversational AI, in particular AI chatbot, as one type of workplace AI application to answer the research question: how do employees experience the use of an AI chatbot in their day-to-day work? Through a qualitative case study of a large international organisation and by performing an inductive analysis, the research uncovers the different ways in which users appropriate the AI chatbot and identifies two key dimensions that determine their type of use: the dominant mode of interaction and the understanding of the AI chatbot technology. Based on these dimensions, a taxonomy of users is presented, which classifies users of AI chatbots into four types: early quitters, pragmatics, progressives, and persistents. The findings contribute to the understanding of how conversational AI, particularly AI chatbots, is used in organi­ sations and pave the way for further research in this regard. Abstract: The information systems (IS) literature elaborates on how firms develop organizational agility based on organizational capabilities to sense and respond to rapidly changing environments. However, the underlying mechanism of how companies and their chief executive officers (CEOs) understand and implement digital technologies to foster organizational agility is lacking. The technological frame concept provides an impetus to explain the process by which CEOs' sensemaking of digital technologies influences organizational agility. Our paper draws on the individual-level perspective of the technological frame concept and proposes a mediating role of digital business capabilities, composed of digital strategy, digital integration, and digital control. Our quantitative research design is based on findings derived from 386 German CEOs and confirms that CEOs' technological frame influences organizational agility through digital business capabilities. Thereby, we expand the concept of the technological frame on the individual level and contribute to the IS literature by revealing the mechanism of how CEOs' sensemaking influences organizational agility. Abstract: After facing the COVID-19 pandemic, organizations request their employees to work from home permanently. For an organization, this provides positive benefits such as reducing costs for rent. From an employee perspective, working from home can cause a feeling of isolation towards co-workers and lower attachment to an organization. One way to counteract this problem is to transfer the office to the digital world, especially spurred by the metaverse discussion to represent processes of our real world in digital environments that allow us to do everything in the same way digitally as we are doing in the real world. In this paper, we present a theoretical model for conducting a 2x2 between-subject experiment to analyze how digital real-world meeting experiences influence team attachment and organizational commitment. We contribute to theories such as the need of belonging and transfer them to digital environments and provide practical implications for designing digital offices. Collapse

Abstract: Digital platforms have proven to be efficient matchmakers in our networked economy and society. However, their tremendous potential is a double-edged sword, and concerns about their malpractices and negative impact have risen remarkably. In the light of practical relevance, research on digital platform regulation (DPR) did not contribute very much. Especially information systems (IS) which, as a discipline, seems predestined to explain the problems at the confluence of technology–economy–society, has barely grazed the issue of DPR. Particularly, a contribution is missing that at least explores the problems with digital platforms systematically and comprehensively. In response to this aim, we pursue a two-step approach: First, we apply qualitative meta-analysis of 211 cases as well as a number of regulation papers and actual regulation endeavors to identify and conceptualize the problem scope and potential regulatory approaches for platform problems. Second, we condense our findings into a conceptual model. Our findings show that digital platforms exploit both platform- and monopoly-related problems to assert themselves in different markets. Through their impactful platform governance, they even have become serious challengers to the regulator in controlling market access, key conditions, and resources. At this, they rely on the efficient use of data and digital technologies to effectively orchestrate platform agents and their transactions. The outcome of the paper is a set of two structured instruments that fill a void in interdisciplinary research and provide support to DPR practitioners for a systematic approach to regulation. Abstract: Recent research shows that people tend to avoid relying on artificial intelligence (AI) when making decisions at work. Although previous studies have investigated the causes and effects of this phenomenon, the role of attitudes, which are considered as a crucial factor in biased decision-making, remains unexplored. To investigate whether and how attitudes toward AI influence decision-making in work-related situations, we developed and conducted a lab experiment in which 156 participants received AI advice on process improvement while performing a manufacturing task. Our results suggest that negative attitudes toward AI are associated with greater reluctance to accept AI advice, resulting in lower performance in work-related situations. Furthermore, we show that human involvement in the process of providing AI advice cannot mitigate the negative effects of strong negative attitudes. Collapse

Abstract: Annual reports are one of the most important sources of information for financial decisions. They contain forward-looking statements (FLS), which describe future trends and expectations. Thus, several studies deal with the automated identification of FLS, where the latest ones involve a combination of a rule-based approach and machine learning classification. In this paper, we extend this research with state-of-the-art NLP methods. We use DistilBERT for FLS identification and determine their sentiment with FinBERT. The result is processed by a Random Forest model for stock price growth prediction of different periods. Our evaluation shows that DestilBERT achieves higher accuracies on FLS identification than existing methods. For short-term stock price rate prediction, the extracted FLS information together with historical stock data outperforms the sole use of historical stock data. For mid-term prediction, using FLS alone with DestilBERT shows the best result. Finally, in the long-term, FLS provide no benefit. Collapse

Abstract: In creative industries, a producer’s choice to use specific cultural practices is often driven by considerations of industry-specific notions of creativity and artistic vision. Creative producers claim autonomy over which practices are deemed desirable or legitimate, creating resistance to influences from outside the industry, such as from social movements. This study proposes that in such contexts, externally-driven change depends on the role of prominent gatekeepers. We consider how shifts in their discourse translate and amplify external social movement pressures for producers. We further argue that higher-status producers respond more to the changing discourse of these gatekeepers, to whom they are more tightly connected. This leads to a dynamic that is counterintuitive in the context of creative industries in which higher-status producers, who can benefit most from preserving the status quo, show greater responsiveness to external pressures when translated through gatekeeper discourse. Our empirical analysis uses a unique data set related to a prototypical contested practice: fur use in high-end fashion. These findings highlight the complex role of gatekeepers in creative industries and indirect pathways through which external social movements drive change. Abstract: Quantum computing is attracting increasing attention due to both the threats and the opportunities it may present. Nonetheless, the technology is still nascent and thus far lacks substantive commercial applications that can demonstrate, let alone validate, its potential impact. This uncertainty challenges organizations' ability to make strategic decisions concerning quantum computing. In this study, we explored the practitioners' discourse about quantum computing and the metaphors used to describe the technology and its prospective value. Building on a thematic analysis of 140 video presentations by quantum computing practitioners, we identified ten distinct metaphors of quantum computing. Subsequently, we sorted the metaphors based on the perceived feasibility and strategic potential of the technology to reveal four ways quantum computing may impact the prevailing digital logic. These findings shed light on the alternative development paths of quantum computing business applications and extend the theoretical foundation of this incipient discourse. Collapse

Abstract: Digital platforms (DPs) represent a challenging research object. In this context, scientific literature has produced a large number of publications studying DPs. Given the importance of designing DPs in both academia and practice, the purpose of this study is to synthesize the current research findings on DPs and provide a framework with possible design topics under consideration from a business model perspective. A systematic literature review (SLR) was conducted to identify and synthesize the relevant findings. We analyzed 22 publications published before May 2021. The analysis shows that, in terms of "Value Propositions", most design topics were identified. In contrast, only one design topic was identified for "Customer Relationships", "Customer Segments", and "Cost Structure". In sum, our results present a framework with design topics for DPs and support the alignment of further research. Practitioners receive an overview of design topics for DPs that encourage today`s digital transformation projects. Collapse
