Abstract: Business Process Management (BPM) and Digital Innovation (DI) are at the forefront of understanding and shaping organizational change in the digital age. Yet BPM still struggles to fully embrace an opportunity-driven mindset while DI is rarely institutionalized as a structured process. To overcome challenges, combining efforts of both domains promises great benefits. Hence, we take a dialectic view on the intersection of BPM and DI and conduct two structured literature reviews to derive eight empowering effects of BPM and DI capabilities on Digital Process Innovation and the DI Process. Drawing from dialectic theory, our study contributes to the descriptive and explanatory knowledge on BPM and DI, answering calls to advance research at their intersection. Our findings provide a basis for further theorizing and insights on how existing knowledge on BPM and DI can inform research at their intersection. Practitioners can use our results to synergize their BPM and DI capabilities. Collapse

Abstract: Crowdfunding projects depend on signalling to demonstrate authenticity. However, literature on signalling has focused on investment and reward crowdfunding with lesser emphasis on donation crowdfunding. This study adopts the signalling theory and bundling concepts to explore the impact of two validation mechanisms on donation crowdfunding outcomes. Drawing from the literature on bunding and signalling, we investigate the impact of a mixed product bundling strategy (community pot mechanism) and ideological bundling strategy (third-party signalling) on donation project success. Based on data from Mchanga.com, our findings indicate that the mixed product bundling strategy positively influences project amount of funds raised and backer support. However, we also find preliminary evidence indicating ideological bundling can have undesirable and contrasting effects on project outcomes. Implications and future work are also discussed. Collapse

Abstract: During crisis situations, emergency operators require fast information access to achieve situation awareness and make the best possible decisions. Augmented reality could be used to visualize the wealth of user-generated content available on social media and enable context-adaptive functions for emergency operators. Although emergency operators agree that social media analytics will be important for their future work, it poses a challenge to filter and visualize large amounts of social media data. We conducted a goal-directed task analysis to identify the situation awareness requirements of emergency operators. By collecting tweets during two storms in Germany we evaluated the usefulness of Twitter data for achieving situation awareness and conducted interviews with emergency operators to derive filter strategies for social media data. We synthesized the results by discussing how the unique interface of augmented reality can be used to integrate social media data into emergency control rooms for situation awareness support. Abstract: This minitrack is special. It is set up to provide a forum for papers in the Organizational Systems and Technology track that do not "fit" exactly in a specific track. We often serve as an incubator for new ideas.Over the years we have actively solicited nontraditional, imaginative, and thought-provoking research in any IT area. We are particularly interested in papers that break new ground in new areas, or those that apply existing research to new industry groups or fields.Accepted papers in this minitrack generally have the following characteristics:1. Papers are cross-disciplinary, where the disciplines can be other than MIS.2. Papers address current topics that are relevant to managers in today's business environment.3. Papers tend to have a practitioner "flavor," as opposed to a strict theoretical context. 4.Case studies are typically welcomed, particularly if they propose questions that will stimulate discussion among session attendees.The seven papers accepted for our HICSS-56 minitrack represent unique perspectives across organizational systems and technology application, education, and theory extension. The seven papers are diverse and represent interesting topics associated with general characteristics of past papers accepted in this minitrack. Abstract: Although prior research has highlighted the benefits that accrue to brokers in innovation networks, much less attention is devoted to understanding who benefits from associating with a broker. This study focuses on the impact of associating with a specific kind of broker—a core/periphery bridge—that is, one that spans central and peripheral actors. I argue that actors associated with a core/periphery bridge benefit more when they have no central connection, or are outsiders in the network, due to their greater need for sponsorship from the broker. I explore this idea in the context of the return migration of American-trained scientists to African institutions, who span the core and the periphery of the global scientific network. I evaluate the impact of their return on the publication outcomes of nonmigrant scientists based in African institutions and find that following the arrival of a returnee in their institution, the nonmigrants who are not already connected to scientists in top global institutions have a greater publication output through improved access to central knowledge and connections. The findings contribute to a better understanding of how brokers can influence innovation systems more broadly. Abstract: The adoption and diffusion of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in organizations are significantly influenced by many sociotechnical factors such as people, processes, or regulations. However, previous research has mostly focused on a reactive description of individual influencing factors and lacks an overarching perspective that enables active management of an organization's various AI capabilities. Therefore, this paper provides a first overarching perspective by identifying all relevant activities for the management of AI in literature and grouping them into eight different fields of action. These fields of action are then evaluated by practitioners and combined into a cross-industry reference model for AI Management. While this reference model is the first of its kind and is already making a valuable contribution to the emerging field of AI Management in Information Systems Research, further insights are expected from the future refinement and application of the model. Abstract: The emerging field of Citizen Relationship Management has shown promise to combine data analytics and intuitive digital platforms to help public managers interpret citizen-driven data and draw out appropriate policy. However, research dates back to only the last ten years, and does not commonly focus on families of extreme social vulnerability or how to bring solutions that increase access to public infrastructure. This research addresses the central challenge of setting strategic intervention plans for these families considering their multiple levels of vulnerability and the limited government resources available to address them. The paper builds on the frame­ work for analytical CZRM to prototype and build a tool that analyzes data about income, nutrition, and housing for over 34,000 low-income families in Cear´a, Brazil. Each family is assigned a vulnerability score, which is then used to filter public policy recommendations that address specific vulnerability profiles. The CZRM derives from over one year of interaction with government stakeholders who expressed their needs. Further software vali­ dation was completed with a series of test cases which ensured the tool was working and showing accurate results. The interactive mapping, ranking and filtering tool exemplifies an emerging decision support system to build a citizen portfolio and to set strategies to provide public services to different citizen groups.
