Abstract: The career development patterns in the IT industry remain unrevealed, with existing research only focusing on the lateral job mobility and the job level changes were ignored. Revealing career development patterns necessitates the observation of a considerable number of individual career trajectories. However, data preparation is a demanding and expensive task, and the limited sample size results in coarse-grained career patterns. Digital professional platforms now allow for the accumulation of substantial amounts of realworld career trajectories, creating an unparalleled chance to uncover patterns. This paper develops a datadriven career pattern mining method: Density-Equilibrium Career Paths Pattern Mining (DECPPM), which overcomes the challenges of huge cardinality and job title imbalance that impede effective job title clustering and pattern mining. Using DECPPM, we uncover the career development patterns of IT professionals in terms of both job function and job level changes. Furthermore, we characterize the career patterns of IT individuals in different job levels from a multidimensional and temporal perspective, contributing to the literature on the relationship between career mobility and career success. Abstract: In the wake of George Floyd's death, individuals in the United States have turned to music, particularly hip-hop, as a source of information and a means of participating in discussions related to Floyd's death. We examine digital music consumption as a proxy for awareness of the need for race-based social justice within the United States. Using Spotify's streaming data, we found a significant increase in hip-hop listeners following Floyd's death relative to traditionally White-dominated genres, particularly in less racially diverse cities. Furthermore, we found that Black artists received more listenership across all sampled genres than their non-Black counterparts. This study contributes to the literature studying the societal impact of digital music platforms and how the music made by Black artists may serve as a source of information and discourse, aiding individuals in making sense of events related to racial inequality and anti-Black police violence in the United States. Abstract: With the rapid development of fintech, the need for dynamic credit risk evaluation is becoming increasingly important. While previous studies on credit scoring have mostly focused on single-period loan default prediction, we call for a new avenue-multiperiod default prediction (MPDP)-to depict risk profiles over time. To address the challenges raised by MPDP, such as monotonic default probability prediction and complex relationship accommodation, we propose a novel approach, hybrid and collective scoring (HACS). We design a hybrid modeling strategy to predict whether and when a borrower will default separately through a default discrimination model and a default time estimation model, respectively, and synthesize them through a probabilistic framework. To accommodate various possible patterns of default time and measure the distribution of default probability over successive time intervals, we propose a joint default modeling method to train the default time estimation model. Empirical evaluations at the model (time-to-default prediction performance and discrimination performance) and mechanism (identifiability and discriminability) levels, as well as impact analyses at the application (granting performance and profitability performance) level, show that HACS outperforms the benchmarked survival analysis and multilabel learning methods on all fronts. It can more accurately predict time-to-default and provide financial institutions and investors better decisionsupport in granting loans and selecting loan portfolios. Collapse

Abstract: Crowdfunding platforms are characterized by an uneven distribution of quality and resources. Some projects achieve outstanding and exceptional performance. Those projects, which we call “blockbuster projects,” are believed to have a considerable impact on crowdfunding platforms, especially on other concurrent projects. There are two plausible yet opposing predictions: they may exhibit both a negative effect by monopolizing backer attention and resources and a positive effect by increasing the activeness of backer side. This tension could be further complicated, considering that blockbusters are inherently heterogeneous, which could result in different interrelations with other concurrent projects. To fully understand this tension, this study examines the effects of blockbuster projects on the overall performance of concurrent projects on the platform and the nuances of such effects for different interrelations between blockbusters and other projects. Drawing on the cross-side network effects literature and integrating insights from the unique features of crowdfunding, we develop a theoretical framework that highlights the multidimensional view of blockbuster effects: we propose that blockbuster projects have an overall positive effect on the performance of concurrent projects (overall effect), and such positive effect is stronger for related blockbusters (local effect) and blockbusters emerging before the focal project (temporal effect). Using data from a leading reward-based crowdfunding platform, the proposed hypotheses are tested and largely supported. Additional analyses, based on off-platform data and backer data, verify the mechanism driving the blockbuster effects: blockbusters increase the popularity of the platform, whereby backers participating in the blockbusters tend to develop positive impressions and heightened expectations, so that they are likely to participate in other concurrent projects. This study contributes to the crowdfunding literature on interactions among projects, the literature on distinctive agents in online markets, and the cross-side network effects literature. Abstract: Fueled by increasing data availability and the rise of technological advances for data processing and communication, business analytics is a key driver for smart manufacturing. However, due to the multitude of different local advances as well as its multidisciplinary complexity, both researchers and practitioners struggle to keep track of the progress and acquire new knowledge within the field, as there is a lack of a holistic conceptualization. To address this issue, we performed an extensive structured literature review, yielding 904 relevant hits, to develop a quadripartite taxonomy as well as to derive archetypes of business analytics in smart manufacturing. The taxonomy comprises the following meta-characteristics: application domain, orientation as the objective of the analysis, data origins, and analysis techniques. Collectively, they comprise eight dimensions with a total of 52 distinct characteristics. Using a cluster analysis, we found six archetypes that represent a synthesis of existing knowledge on planning, maintenance (reactive, offline, and online predictive), monitoring, and quality management. A temporal analysis highlights the push beyond predictive approaches and confirms that deep learning already dominates novel applications. Our results constitute an entry point to the field but can also serve as a reference work and a guide with which to assess the adequacy of one's own instruments. Collapse

An important part of this infrastructure is a company's enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. While common wisdom suggests that a company's ERP architecture should be designed on a global basis to align with the strategies and organizational structures, little is known about how these systems are implemented in practice. A case study was conducted to explore how ERP architecture is established in a global corporation. The results indicated that global ERP architecture may not be designed with as much coordination with the business strategies and structures as prior literature suggests. Abstract: Along with promising a better life, use of information and communication technologies (ICT) are shown to cause psychological and physiological (perceived) stress. ICT related perceived stress can paradoxically lead to both productivity inhibition and promotion. To be able to better manage techno-distress and promote techno-eustress, it is important to investigate possible cognitive mechanisms through which these two kinds of stress are formed and maintained. In contrast to existing models of technostress, we employ the basic psychological needs theory within a gamification context to extend the existing literature. This paper proposes a new framework that incorporates basic psychological needs fulfillment into the interaction between game design elements and technostress. It advocates that game element characteristics impact technostress through basic psychological need satisfaction or frustration. Work system design would benefit from the inclusion of gamification elements that persistently satisfy psychological needs and result in better management of technostress within individuals. Abstract: A major concern in today's society is social inclusion and how to include marginalized people in the workforce. Based on three design principles, informed by the concepts of digital nudging and social capital, we designed a website to influence employers towards including people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) in their workforce. Our aim was to explore how a digital intervention can influence employers' willingness towards recruiting people with IDD. We applied a case study approach, and gathered data from 18 employers through interviews and a survey. Results show that elements of framing recruitment alternatives and redistribution initiatives and emphasis on human diversity and common good may influence employers' willingness to recruit people with IDD. However, fostering trust seem to be based on previous interactions with social services and require a more blended approach. Overall, the digital intervention led to reflections on how to contribute to social inclusion through recruitment. Collapse

Abstract: We develop principles that facilitate socially inclusive design-oriented research with marginalized groups. Building on the recognition that the research process must be informed by theoretical perspectives about social inclusion, our effort begins with an empirical investigation of a multiyear research project that designed several IT-based solutions for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We treat the efforts to design each solution as a "case," capture primary data from multiple sources, and analyze it in light of three facets of social inclusion drawn from prior work: self-determination, belongingness, and social capital. The findings are interpreted to derive five principles for a socially inclusive design-oriented research process: (1) respecting multiperspective problem ownership and integrated solution design, (2) surfacing emic contributions to guide artifact design, (3) leveraging the support network to shape artifact design and refine research conduct, (4) customizing design-evaluate cycles with inclusive practices, and (5) pursuing authenticity in research collaborations. We elaborate each principle with connections to different facets of social inclusion, guidelines suggested by our empirical investigation, and a mapping against contemporary design-oriented research approaches. The five principles suggest key directions to facilitate a socially inclusive design-oriented research process when working with marginalized groups. The paper concludes with a discussion of implications for IS scholars, and pointers for using design-oriented approaches for greater social inclusion of marginalized populations. Collapse

Abstract: Governments worldwide recognize a need to provide services online to their citizens. Increasingly, these services have become sophisticated through the application of advanced technologies. Nevertheless, the adoption of such services often lags behind expectations. Thus, this study proposes and tests an extension of the unified model of electronic government adoption (UMEGA) to the context of smart e-government services in Germany. It was empirically tested using the data of 330 respondents. The adapted model greatly exceeds other studies that applied an adapted UMEGA regarding the explanatory power on attitude, while the study proves that resistance to change in the investigated context unfolds a highly significant impact on behavioral intention compared to other findings. Concluding, the proposed model supports governments in planning smart e-government services and corresponding strategies more holistically by understanding the factors that influence citizens' adoption.
