Abstract: AI Chatbots, like ChatGPT, have attracted widespread attention for their powerful natural language processing capabilities. Artificial intelligence (AI) chatbots, such as Auto-GPT and ChatGPT, can help companies create brand stories and communicate with stakeholders to enhance corporate communication and brand equity. In this extended abstract, we discuss our plan to generate brand messages with varying language formality and investigate the effect of informed communicators (i.e., human and AI chatbots) and the language formality of brand stories on individuals' attitudes to the brand and examine the role of psychological distance. Our findings are expected to contribute to the theoretical fundamentals of using chatbots like ChatGPT in brand storytelling. Collapse

Abstract: Smart service systems are a network of people, technologies, as well as processes and rely on learning, adaptivity, and decision-making to provide smart services to their users. The complexity of designing smart service systems results in a plethora of potential implementation obstacles, often leading to an overly technical focus and resulting in isolated solutions. There is, therefore, a need for a guideline for companies that helps them facilitate the development of complex smart service systems. To this end, we apply action design research used in a multi-year design study for digital twins in the manufacturing industry. The resulting four-quadrant framework (domain, system design, organization, and ecosystem) can help researchers and companies guide the development of smart service systems or evaluate past progress. The evaluation of the framework shows that there might be dominant quadrants and certain paths in the framework, which we would like to investigate in further research. Abstract: Digitization and the increased available data volumes are triggering a fundamental change in Management Accountants' (MAs) scope of tasks and activities. In particular, the current technological developments, including analytics or automation tools, are eliminating standard tasks and processes. This article examines the shift in the job description of a MA regarding changes in technologies, methods, and tools in times of digitization. The results of an analysis of job advertisements provide an overview of the development of tasks, trends and technologies for Management Accountants (MA) in Germany. Our results highlight an increasing demand for Machine Learning, Predictive Analytics and Robotic Process Automation backgrounds, suggesting a shift of the MAs role towards a business partner role with minimization of repetitive tasks. Abstract: We see more and more incidents where users' information collected by digital services is shared with external parties. Users becoming aware of such information (mis-)uses may perceive a privacy violation. In this study, we want to understand when, why, and how such external unauthorized secondary use (EUSU) is perceived as a privacy violation and what consequences such a perception entails. Employing the Critical Incident Technique (CIT), we inductively derive characteristics of realworld incidents of perceived privacy violations through EUSU and users' perceptions and responses thereto. We present preliminary results of our qualitative data analysis as well as potential contributions of this research-in-progress study. As a next step, we plan to relate characteristics with responses through Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA). Collapse

Abstract: After many years of reluctance and lack of commitment, companies are increasingly prioritizing sustainability and setting ambitious goals. Along with the rise of organizational sustainability strategy (OSS), the role of information systems (IS) in sustainability has increased and become a source of sustainability at the organizational level. Although ever more companies consider sustainability a top priority, they struggle to turn sustainability strategies into practice and observe measurable results. We followed a mixed methods approach combining qualitative interview data (n=13) and quantitative data from a multi-continental industry survey (n=551) to generate an in-depth understanding of the role of IS-enabled sustainability practices in influencing the organizational sustainability strategy-implementation gap. With our study, we demonstrate that IS-enabled sustainability practices mediate the impact of OSS on organizational sustainability performance (OSP) and that these practices are enabled by IS capabilities that are critical to implementing sustainability practices (technology intelligence, data analysis, and digital twinning capability). Abstract: Conversational agents are increasingly being used by the general population due to shortages in healthcare providers and specialists, and limited access to treatments. They are also used by people to deal with loneliness and lack of companionship. As these apps are increasingly replacing real humans, there is a need to explore their design features and limitations for better design of conversational apps. Using text mining and topic modeling, this study analyzed a total of 126,610 reviews about Replika, a popular and well-established conversational agent mobile app. Our results emphasized current practices for designing conversational apps while at the same time sheds the light on limitations associated with these apps. Such limitations are related to the need for better conversations and intelligent responses, the need for advanced AI chatbots, the need to avoid questionable and inappropriate content, the need for inclusive design, and the need to address some technical limitations. Abstract: A sustainable digital future of education is at its high call and various digital tools are being used to establish digital learning -but limited attention is paid to quality and virtual competence for the success of Digital Learning System (DLs). This study addresses the gap and outlines satisfaction as a function of quality factors (perceived knowledge quality and interactive quality) and virtual competence that subsequently determines net benefits (perceived learning). DLs success model is proposed by mapping into sequential building blocks of DeLone and McLean IS success model and integrating social cognitive theory. Quantitative online survey data from 156 German and Swedish students confirm that perceived knowledge quality, sociability-based interactive quality, and virtual competence play an important role towards students' satisfaction and perceived learning. The salient highlighted factors provide a novel contribution deemed indispensable for DLs success. The findings suggest future research avenues for theory and practice. Collapse

Abstract: The generative Artificial Intelligence (genAI) innovation enables new potentials for end-users, affecting youth and the inexperienced. Nevertheless, as an innovative technology, genAI risks generating misinformation that is not recognizable as such. The extraordinary AI outputs can result in increased trustworthiness. An end-user assessment system is necessary to expose the unfounded reliance on erroneous responses. This paper identifies requirements for an assessment system to prevent end-users from overestimating trust in generated texts. Thus we conducted requirements engineering based on a literature review and two international surveys. The results confirmed the requirements which enable human protection, human support, and content veracity in dealing with genAI. Overestimated trust is rooted in miscalibration; clarity about genAI and its provider is essential to solving this phenomenon, and there is a demand for human verifications. Consequently, our findings provide evidence for the significance of future IS research on human-centered genAI trust solutions. Collapse

Abstract: Sharing platforms often leverage recommendation algorithms to reduce matching costs and improve buyer satisfaction. However, the economic impacts of different recommendation algorithms on the business operations of complementors remains unclear. This study uses natural quasi-experiments and proprietary data from a homecooked food-sharing platform with two recommendation algorithms: word-of-mouth recommendation (WMR) and botler personalization recommendation (BPR). Results show the WMR negatively affects revenue while BPR has a positive effect. The contrast revenue effects have been attributed to capacity constraints for complementors and matching frictions for consumers. WMR encourages sellers to specialize in high-quality products but limits new product development. BPR promotes innovation to suit diverse customer tastes but may reduce quality. This reflects the exploration-exploitation tradeoff: WMR exploits existing competences, while BPR explores new products to satisfy personal preferences. The authors discuss implications for how to utilize recommendation algorithms and artificial intelligence for the prosperity of sharing economy platforms. Collapse

Abstract: Immersive Virtual Reality (later VR) has its potential in enabling learning experiences. Several studies adopt experiential learning as a key concept to understand the outcomes of VR. This study consists of two parts -the first part conducts a systematic literature review on VR experiential learning and suggests seven main dimensions for the concept identified by the existing literature: engagement, sociability, contextual information, physical sensation, interactivity, cognitions, and presence. The second part adopts a value co-creation and co-destruction approach to empirically test the construction underlying VR experiential learning. The findings indicate 33 value cocreation and 19 value co-destruction constructs contributing to the seven dimensions. The suggested seven value construct dimensions combined with our own empirical findings and the theory of experiential learning, our research results build understanding about the experiential learning in the VR context and further encourages future VR learning research to test and validate these propositions.
