Abstract: While communities and neighbourhoods place a premium on quiet living areas, home-sharing platforms bring tourism to ordinary homes. Noise has serious negative implications for public mental health and overall wellness. However, when residential neighbourhoods host sharing platform guests, their character may change to reflect the activities of short-stay, touristic inhabitants. To study the noiserelated externalities generated by home-sharing platforms, this short paper empirically examines the relationship between Airbnb listings in the city of New York, and frequency of residential noise complaints made. First estimations using negative binomial specifications on a panel dataset of NYC boroughs shows a higher number of Airbnb listings, higher occupancy and commercial use is associated with noisy boroughs, whereas noise complaints are lesser in boroughs with expensive listings. We outline steps for future work and development. This study speaks to IS literature on platform negative externalities disrupting community life, and offers insights for remedial public policy. Abstract: While many factors drive the sharing economy’s growth, trust and motivations play critical roles. However, which factors are more important to young consumers? This research compares a trust model with a motivation model for predicting intention to use Airbnb, Uber, and TaskRabbit, comparing within each platform, not between them. The study uses a survey sample of Midwest United States business undergraduates (nearly all Generation Z). Each sample varies in experience levels: relatively high experience Uber respondents, very low experience TaskRabbit respondents, and medium experience for Airbnb. Results show that within Uber, the trust model predicts significantly better than the motivation model. Within Airbnb and TaskRabbit, the motivation model predicts only slightly better. By combining the trust and motivation variables into one model by platform, we find differing degrees of complementarity between the trust and motivation variables, with those for Airbnb being the most complementary in terms of predictive power and those for Uber being the least complementary. Within Airbnb and TaskRabbit, combining the trust and motivation models shows the two most significant variables were enjoyment and trusting intention. Within Uber, trusting intention and trusting beliefs in the provider were the most significant. We provide implications and directions for future research. Collapse

Abstract: This work analyzes the attitude formation process of individuals for central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), specifically for the digital euro. CBDCs are heavily researched, with pilot projects being conducted worldwide. Following the emergence of cryptocurrencies and a decrease in cash usage for retail transactions, CBDCs are viewed as the possible payment solution of the future. Using a qualitative approach, we conduct expert and non-expert interviews to apply and extend existing research on attitude formation to study how individuals form attitudes towards a CBDC in Germany. We find that individuals form their attitudes towards a digital euro through the perceived benefits, limitations, and concerns regarding related payment solutions, moderated through the perceived equivalence of these related technologies and the CBDC. The results contribute to the literature on CBDC and can be used by practitioners to develop a digital euro that offers a competitive advantage for retail transactions over established payment solutions. Abstract: Digital technologies are revolutionizing the business world and giving rise to a new breed of entrepreneurs: digital entrepreneur. Digital entrepreneurs leverage digital platforms and technologies to create new business ventures and pursue entrepreneurial success. Despite the growing importance of digital entrepreneurship, the literature on this topic remains relatively fragmented on the key player driving digital entrepreneurship: digital entrepreneurs. To gain an understanding of how digital entrepreneurs are characterized in the current literature, this paper reviews the existing literature on digital entrepreneurship and characterizes digital entrepreneurs along several key dimensions. Adopting a systematic literature review approach, we analyzed 43 peer-reviewed papers in the fields of management and entrepreneurship to gain a comprehensive understanding of digital entrepreneurs. Our findings identify four prominent types of digital entrepreneurs, each with their corresponding digital entrepreneurial capability and entrepreneurial processes, and the enablers for their engagement in digital entrepreneurship. To move the field of digital entrepreneurship research forward, we suggest several research directions related to each of these dimensions. Collapse

Abstract: Although multichannel sales strategies have become common due to the use of advanced information technologies, how one trading mechanism can influence the outcome of another, especially in the B2B market, remains largely underexplored. This paper investigates the effect of price and quantity information from an online posted-price presales channel on the performance of the century-old sequential Dutch auction system. Sellers can control the price paid and make a proportion of their stock available in auction presales. Anything left after presales is sold via auctions. Our analysis of nearly 1.5 million flower lots reveals a positive effect with higher auction prices and total revenue for lots listed in presales than for lots that are not. The result holds even for lots with no actual sales in the presales, indicating that buyers pay close attention to the additional information from the posted-price presales channel. By teasing out the information effect of presales prices and presales quantity on auction prices, we evaluate a number of pricing strategies. The results suggest that selling at a high price in presales is still more beneficial than selling more by discounting prices. Collapse

Abstract: Organizations undergo significant change in the pursuit of digital transformation. Among those changes is replacing legacy information systems (LIS) with updated systems that integrate data, platforms, and software across all operational functions. The development of a broad legacy replacement system requires extensive resourses and a core development team composed of technical professionals with development oversight and operational experts representing the diverse interests of the functional units. Within the team, replacing LIS raises task conflicts in the distribution of system resources across operational departments and perception differences in the replacement system's alignment with the organization's needs. Prior studies suggest deploying collaborative strategies to resolve task-related conflicts on resource allocation and design preferences without contextual consideration. We built a model rooted in conflict survival theory to consider conflicts arising in the design of the replacement system, identify appropriate design team mechanisms, and examine conflict resolution strategies targeted to the context. A mixed-methods study of survey results from 119 legacy replacements and interviews of legacy replacement project managers indicates that teams adapt responses to the different conflict types inherent to legacy replacement design and should further consider selecting a conflict resolution strategy. Identifying appropriate actions and distinct conflict resolution strategies adds to task conflict theory and advises practice selecting the more appropriate activities and strategies specific to replacement system design. Abstract: Human-robot collaboration (HRC) has become an emerging field, where the use of a robotic agent has been shifted from a supportive machine to a decisionmaking collaborator. A variety of factors can influence the effectiveness of decision-making processes during HRC, including the system-related (e.g., robot capability) and human-related (e.g., individual knowledgeability) factors. As a variety of contextual factors can significantly impact the human-robot decision-making process in collaborative contexts, the present study adopts a Lego-like EEG headset to collect and examine human brain activities and utilizes multiple questionnaires to evaluate participants' cognitive perceptions toward the robot. A user study was conducted where two levels of robot capabilities (high vs. low) were manipulated to provide system recommendations. The participants were also identified into two groups based on their computational thinking (CT) ability. The EEG results revealed that different levels of CT abilities trigger different brainwaves, and the participants' trust calibration of the robot also varies the resultant brain activities. Collapse

Abstract: Websites that allow consumers to post online reviews often allow others to signal the value of the reviews by voting for them as being helpful (i.e., an upvote) or unhelpful (i.e., a downvote). Although a review's content should drive votes, herd behavior may also be operative if consumers discount their own judgments of the review based on signals others provide. Using a field study of online product reviews from Amazon, a longitudinal experiment, and two cross-sectional experiments, we find evidence for herd behavior: consumers' voting de­ cisions and intentions are influenced by others' votes. However, this effect is complex with multiple moderating factors, including consumer involvement, review valence, and review diagnosticity. We discuss the theoretical and practical implications of these findings for reducing the potential negative effects of herd behavior in the context of online reviews. Collapse

Abstract: In organizational groups, expertise and information are often distributed among group members, thus making information sharing a necessity for group success. We examine the role of mood diversity on the discussion of disconfirming information and evaluation of decision alternatives in groups. In a laboratory experiment, using a hidden profile task, we manipulated mood diversity in 36 four-person, same-sex groups. Results indicated that mood diversity (vs. homogeneity) was positively related to groups’ focus on disconfirming information, which ultimately led to a more accurate evaluation of their decision alternatives. Results of the study expand our understanding of how mood composition of groups affects their discussion dynamics and decision evaluation. Collapse
