Abstract: Mixed reality (MR) devices such as HoloLens are expressed as one of the future technology for working environments in Metaverse. However, it is still being determined how such technology can contribute to the Business Intelligence and Analytics (BI&A) context. In this study, following the problem-awareness step of a design science research (DSR) project, we conducted a preliminary user study on MR dashboards applied to the context of BI&A. To reach this goal, we first designed and developed HoloDash, an MR-based system that provides 2D, Cube, and 3D versions of dashboards. Later, we conducted a semi-structured interview, and ten BI&A users shared their opinions about the challenges and opportunities of using MR dashboards in BI&A based on HoloDash. Finally, we aggregated findings and identified nine requirements and three design principles that can serve as the basis for creating future effective MR-based dashboards by practitioners and researchers. Abstract: Digital transformation (DT) continuously reshapes and disrupts established industries. While DT has become a buzzworthy trend, many firms still struggle to advance their DT journeys. As such, we explore the drivers of DT, and the challenges managers encounter as DT is manifested in practice in traditional industries. By adopting a qualitative approach, we gain insight into senior managers’ perspectives on DT in the context of the Swedish forestry industry. Our results reveal that the drivers of DT in traditional industries hinge on organizational structures, innovation direction, and organizational identity being changed to prevail. Our study extends research on DT in traditional industries and highlights probable areas of concern that industry practitioners can probe during their organizations’ transformation journeys. Abstract: As consumer privacy concerns become paramount, it is increasingly critical to understand what constitutes a privacy violation and how consumers respond. Using a multi-method approach, this research shows that consumers perceive three privacy violation types with increasing levels of severity, explaining when and why consumers exhibit seemingly paradoxical responses to different violation types. Our theorizing and findings suggest that resource control is the predominant mechanism driving privacy behavior, and that situation controllability (operationalized as level of variability of privacy practices within the industry) may moderate its effects. ***Disclosure: An earlier version of this work was submitted and accepted to HICSS last year but was later withdrawn as the authors were unable to attend the conference due to extenuating circumstances. Abstract: During crises, there is a need for a large amount of information in a short period. Such need creates the base for misinformation to spread within and outside the affected community. This may result in misinformation harms that can generate serious short term or long-term consequences. In such situations, there is a need for a joint human-machine effort to mitigate misinformation. Though there has been research in the area of management of AI in the recent past, there has been scarce work in examining situations where machines and humans interact for mitigating misinformation. In order to systematically analyze misinformation and suggest mechanisms for mitigation, we draw on Activity Theory to conceptualize a suitable framework. Such a framework will enable investigating human-machine interactions through loops of “misinformation generation” and “misinformation mitigation” activities for mitigating misinformation harms. Abstract: Food safety is a public health issue of paramount importance. In this regard, blockchain has emerged as a promising technology that allows users to effectively and efficiently record the origin and flow of products and eliminate or reduce harmful food fraud. Consumers can benefit from this development by receiving up-to-date and verifiable information about the origins and delivery routes of their purchases. Drawing on signaling the­ ory and the results of two experimental studies with 151 and 152 participants, respectively, we investigate how the use of blockchain to trace food products impacts consumers’ perception of product quality as a mediating variable and subsequently their purchase intention. Our framework further considers brand familiarity as a moderating variable. The findings from the two experiments show that blockchain labels as a signaling mech­ anism in food supply chains help to strengthen consumers’ perceived quality of food products, which, in turn, increases their purchase intention. This effect is more pronounced for less familiar brands, which is valuable information for managers who want to build a brand’s reputation. From an academic perspective, we highlight the applicability of signaling theory to identify blockchain-based traceability systems as important drivers of perceived product quality and consequently purchase intention. Abstract: The relationship between tweet sentiment and cryptocurrency pricing has drawn academic researchers' attention in recent years. However, empirical results have been inconsistent, and no research has examined the bidirectional relationship between cryptocurrency pricing and tweet sentiment nor the impacts of opinion leaders. In this research, we test the presence of bidirectional relationships between Bitcoin opinion leader tweet sentiments and Bitcoin price behaviors. By analyzing a big data set of 78 million Bitcoin-related tweets from 2014 to 2021 through vector autoregression modeling with exogenous variables, we reveal the influences of Bitcoin opinion leaders' tweet subjectivity and polarity on Bitcoin price return and volatility, as well as the reverse effects. Our research contributes to academic literature and business practice on cryptocurrency pricing, social media, and opinion leadership. Abstract: During shocks, residents and businesses rely upon the government to ensure health, safety, and the continuity of services. The government's ability to respond depends upon how well it utilizes its data resources and builds digital resilience. Yet governments often fail to integrate data from different agencies to respond effectively to shocks. We conceptualize digital resilience as a dynamic capability (DC). Although the DC framework provides a theoretical basis, it is unclear what actions managers can take to build DC. Through process tracing, we examine how the Commonwealth of Virginia (COVA) built DCs and rebounded from two shocks-the opioid crisis and the COVID-19 pandemic. COVA managers leveraged statewide data assets, built routines to disseminate data, and reconfigured operational capabilities to build three DCsrelationship building, intelligence creation, and value extraction. Data functioned as the "protein" to build the digital resilience "muscle." We found that the relationship building DC leveraged the operational capabilities of data management, integration, and governance structure to foster data sharing, the intelligence creation DC leveraged analytics, and the value extraction DC converted analytics into cost savings, revenue generation, and new services. Whereas COVA built robust digital resilience by facilitating data sharing, the agencies exploited data assets to develop scalable solutions. Collapse

Abstract: Fraud, particularly cybercrime, is an emerging worldwide risk that targets not only large but also small and medium enterprises (SME). SMEs are especially vulnerable because they often have limited resources in terms of money, staff, and IT knowledge. Because of the role SMEs play in the European economy, reducing their vulnerability has gained more importance. Therefore, this study considers the question of how to minimize fraud in SME-related digital and socio-technical work environments. Based on a design science research approach, we developed a fraud management framework to allow SMEs to identify individual fraud risks and establish an individual fraud management program based on the framework at hand. To be adaptable to different industries and sizes of SMEs, we propose a modular concept of documents and workshop material that includes occupational and cyber-fraud cases because previous fraud management concepts often handled only one of them. Abstract: This study aims to propose a new group multi-attribute decision-analysis (MADA) model to prioritize the renewable energy sources (RESs) from sustainability perspectives. The selection of RESs can be considered as a MADA problem due to considering the numerous conflicting sustainability indicators/factors. In this regard, we propose an integrated decision-making framework with the “criteria importance through inter-criteria correlation (CRITIC)”, the “rank sum (RS)” and the “Vlse Kriterijumska Optimizacija Kompromisno Resenje (VIKOR)” approaches with intuitionistic fuzzy information called the “IF-CRITIC-RS-VIKOR” model. In the developed model, the CRITIC is applied to derive the objective weights, while the RS model is used to compute the subjective weights of the considered sustainability indicators. Further, an incorporated weight-determining formula is presented by combining the CRITIC and RS models under intuitionistic fuzzy environment. Moreover, the VIKOR method is employed to rank the candidate RESs by means of several sustainability indicators. In this line, new intuitionistic fuzzy distance measures are proposed to calculate the “group utility (GU)” and “individual regret (IR)” degrees of candidate RESs. Based on the obtained results, the most significant factors for RESs assessment are impact on ecosystem, technology cost and efficiency, respectively. The assessment outcomes show that the wind energy can serve as an effective RES followed by the solar energy, biomass energy and small hydel energy. Furthermore, comparative study and sensitivity analysis are discussed to show the utility and reasonability of the proposed method. Collapse
