Abstract: Multiorganizational, multistakeholder (MO-MS) collaborations that may span organizational and national boundaries, present design challenges beyond those of smaller-scale collaborations. This study opens an exploratory research stream to discover and document design concerns for MO-MS collaboration systems beyond those of the single-task collaborations that have been the primary focus of collaboration engineering research. We chose the healthcare industry as the first target for this research because it has attributes common to many MO-MS domains, and because it faces significant challenges on a global scale, like the recent COVID-19 pandemic, for which MO-MS collaboration could offer solutions, as, for example, evidenced by the rapid collaborative development and distribution of COVID-19 vaccines. To this end, we reviewed 6,609 articles to find 100 articles that offered insights about the design of MO-MS collaboration systems, then conducted 50 semi-structured interviews in two countries with expert practitioners in the field. From those sources, we derived an eleven-category set of design concerns for MO-MS collaboration systems and argue their generalizability to other MO-MS domains. We offer exemplar probe questions that designers can use to increase the breadth and depth of requirements gathering for MO-MS collaboration systems. Collapse

Abstract: Employing customer information from one of the world’s largest airline companies, we develop a price elasticity model (PREM) using machine learning to identify customers likely to purchase an upgrade offer from economy to premium class and predict a customer’s acceptable price range. A simulation of 64.3 million flight bookings and 14.1 million email offers over three years mirroring actual data indicates that PREM implementation results in approximately 1.12 million (7.94%) fewer non-relevant customer email messages, a predicted increase of 72,200 (37.2%) offers accepted, and an estimated $72.2 million (37.2%) of increased revenue. Our results illustrate the potential of automated pricing information and targeting marketing messages for upselling acceptance. We also identified three customer segments: (1) Never Upgrades are those who never take the upgrade offer, (2) Upgrade Lovers are those who generally upgrade, and (3) Upgrade Lover Lookalikes have no historical record but fit the profile of those that tend to upgrade. Abstract: IS curricula require constant updating to accommodate the emergence of new technologies. Designing and delivering effective emerging technology courses within the constraints of existing programs remains an important challenge faculty face. This paper presents a template for approaching these courses from a learning theory perspective. Results of tests of this template, developed for teaching blockchain, indicate that it successfully strikes the balance needed in an IS program while simplifying the work of designing the structure of an emerging technology course. Additionally, this design was able to deliver this success in an online format, which can be a more challenging format for observing the application of knowledge. Blockchain is a disruptive emerging technology opportunity for businesses to unlock value through trusted and "smart" peer-to-peer transactions, wherein smart means businesspeople can custom design processes for verification and transfer of assets. The blockchain example provided here includes a flexible 7-scenario design targeted to enable a constructive, project-based learning approach focused on authentic learning experiences. The template as applied to blockchain may be used directly or adapted for easier development of other emerging technology courses. Dominic Thomas is an Associate Professor of Information Systems at the Coles College of Business, Kennesaw State University, Co-Director of the Modular Agile Deployment (MAD) Lab, and Coordinator for the undergraduate IS program. His current research focuses on improving the usefulness of technology in healthcare both in organizational and individual settings. This includes a major project developing improved 911 mental health response systems. In addition, he leads an ISO team developing global technology standards for the maritime industry. Abstract: The Technology-Environment-Organization (“T-O-E”) framework has been widely applied in more than 80 published empirical information systems (“IS”) studies across multiple stages of organizational technology innovation adoption research in IS since its introduction in 1990. No prior review has traced studies and their factors back to the original framework categories and sub-categories to identify the existing lack of coverage. We address this research gap to guide future work. We present a meta-review and construct analysis derived from the most comprehensive collection of T-O-E articles collected and reviewed up to now. We present four major research contributions: 1) a guide to T-O-E constructs, 2) identification of new organizational sub-categories, 3) recognition of the existing levels of factor miscategorization, 4) identification of measurement gaps particularly relating to linking and communications sub-categories. Abstract: The study models inter-relationship among key enablers that influence the growth of FinTechs that offer credit services to small and medium enterprises (SMEs). It focuses on emerging market of India, which is the world’s third-largest FinTech centre. It employs Grey DEMATEL method to measure the cause-effect relationship based on the assessment given by FinTech practitioners, experts, policymakers, and investors. The results show that credit demand by SME borrowers, availability of alternate data sources, and Covid-19 are the critical enablers that exercise strong impact on FinTech system. Collaboration between FinTechs and traditional financial institutions, end-to-end financial solutions, and scalability of business operations are recognized as critical dependents that are hugely affected by others. The study recommends policymakers to foster collaborative environment, strengthen digital data landscape, and improve financial literacy to develop FinTech sector. It recommends practitioners to focus on data security and to offer end-to-end financial solutions to its SME borrowers. Collapse

Abstract: In this emerging research paper, we introduce a project exploring the role of a commercial real estate property company called Mestro on enhancing the efforts of its clients to provide environmentally sustainable venues for their clients who also value environmentally sustainable business practices. Mestro provides real time energy usage and advanced reporting systems that enables commercial property owners to optimize tenant energy consumption. Through the lens of service dominant logic, we will perform a multiple case-based study to understand how Mestro, in collaboration with its commercial property clients and their tenants, creates an ecosystem where all parties co-create value for each other. Abstract: There are many uncertainties and ambiguities in the design of future-oriented artifacts. Societal and environmental developments are unclear; technologies not ready; target users not accessible. Nevertheless, designing future-oriented artifacts provides opportunities to either create radical innovations that present a competitive advantage, or to engage with relevant stakeholders in a speculative way. This paper provides a framework for developing, discussing, and evaluating future-oriented artifacts, which was developed based on literature and conceptual theorizing. It consists of a process model and a morphological box, outlining eight categories of relevance along with several options to choose from. Subsequently, we applied the framework to an existing future design project to illustrate its applicability. The framework spans the space of possible design and evaluation approaches and, hence, provides a guiding schema for researchers and practitioners to discuss the potentials and implications of design concepts for future-oriented artifacts. Abstract: The opaque and incomprehensible nature of artificial intelligence (AI) raises questions about who can and will take responsibility for AI in organizations. Examining the relation between explainability and responsibility, we explore how AI responsibility attributions unfold when 1) AI shifts tasks and roles of individuals and 2) these individuals lack comprehension of the task elements they are expected to take responsibility for. Through an in-depth qualitative field study in a large organization, we identify three types of responsibility attributions in decision-making with AI: a shared responsibility, a data science-centered responsibility, and a business domain expertcentered responsibility. These three prevalent types of responsibility attributions will be explained by the interaction of different shifts in AI-related tasks and corresponding AI explainability needs and actions in the organization. Our study contributes to the existing literature by demonstrating AI's impact on traditional responsibility assignment in dayto-day organizational practices. Collapse

Abstract: Digital transformation in the public sector involves leveraging digital technology to perform a profound change in both the services offered by public sector organizations and the activities and structures that provide them. Practitioners and researchers alike have called for this kind of transformation to meet citizens' changing needs and expectations. However, there is a lack of knowledge on how to operationalize and achieve digital transformations in the sector, given its institutional and organizational complexity. In this paper, therefore, we present a case study of the establishment of a cross-domain digital transformation unit in a Scandinavian municipality. We conceptualize the approach to digital transformation carried out in this unit as targeted insourcing.
