Abstract: Workplace inclusion is a strategic concern for organizations, yet challenging to achieve. We investigate how Information and Communications Technology (ICT) use can enhance workplace inclusion. Based on qualitative data collected from a leading UK organization, we conceptualize four ICT-enabled workplace inclusion practices – Expanding, Orienting, Enculturating, and Reflecting. Each practice entails the use of multiple ICT applications to enhance workplace in­ clusion through a distinct set of organizational activities. We also highlight the Reflecting practice as key in enhancing other practices. Drawing from our findings, we develop a framework for ICTenabled workplace inclusion that constitutes inter-related ICT-enabled practices focused on multiple organizational activities. We contribute to the literature on the strategic role of ICT for organizational/social good, a current area of research priority for the information systems discipline. Collapse

Abstract: Email is the communication application most widely used in organizations. Yet, email is associated with a number of negative aspects, most prominently 'email overload' - a phenomenon that is theoretically interesting but vexing in practice because it has proved intractable to manage. We problematize the current understanding of email overload as being due to lack of understanding of its technology fit-related antecedents and job-related outcomes, and then investigate how email overload is influenced by a lack of fit between the communication applications that the organization provides to individuals and those that (1) they want, and that (2) are suitable for their tasks. We hypothesize that such lack of fit leads to email by default, defined as the perception of email being used improperly, when other communication applications would be better suited. Email by default is then hypothesized to lead to email overload. We further investigate job-related outcomes of email overload. The hypothesized relationships are supported by our findings, based on data from a two-stage, multi-method empirical study in a large manufacturing organization. The paper theoretically broadens the scholarly discourse on email overload to include novel antecedents and outcomes in the ongoing quest to establish a more complete understanding of this phenomenon. Abstract: Data analytics (DA) is a growing technique to generate knowledge of and to raise responsiveness to marketplace, yet relatively few studies clarified its framework and to examine its effects on marketing actions. This study builds a DA framework based on sense-and-respond perspective and practices and accordingly examines their impact on marketing agility and the mediating effects of market knowledge specificity. We conduct in-depth interviews and surveys to measure the new framework. Results from 198 observations confirm the new frame­ work and indicate that the DA constructs have positive but different effects on marketing agility and the mediation of market knowledge specificity. Abstract: In this paper, we develop an inclusive framework for identifying the direct and indirect stakeholders in digital government projects. Using a public value lens, we develop a systems view of digital government initiatives. We use an illustrative case study to show how stakeholders, especially indirect stakeholders, can exert influence on digital government projects, including what projects are perceived as legitimate, what factors are considered as important for success, and what stakeholders are involved in postimplementation evaluation. Abstract: This paper debates whether the Association for Information Systems (AIS) and similar academic associations should leverage their power, resources, and collective expertise to promote the utilization of information technology for supporting social action undertaken by its members. Social action refers to activities designed to generate an impact on the well-being of society. The paper suggests that the AIS should advance cautiously by supporting and empowering members in their quest to engage in social action. The paper also explores the mechanisms needed to realize this vision. We conclude that the community should hold further debates on the scope of the association's involvement and procedures in various fora of interest. University. Dov currently studies human-AI configurations and smart human-computer interaction and knowledge sharing. He co-authored Human-computer Interaction for Developing Effective Organizational Systems and co-edited the Encyclopedia of Knowledge Management, as well as other books on information systems and innovation. He has written over a hundred papers with over sixty co-authors in journals such as Management Science, MIS Quarterly, Organization Science. Dov is the Past President of AIS-the international Association of Information Systems, and past editor in chief of EJIS-the European Journal of IS. Abstract: Evolving regulatory frameworks, digital decarbonization, or new management challenges due to exponential data growth are bringing end-of-life data management to the forefront and making it an important building block in data engineering. However, the end of the data life cycle and in particular its management has received little attention in literature and practice. We argue this is partly due to the lack of an overarching model that creates a common understanding that data engineering experts and practitioners can build upon. We present Destroy Claims, which provides a standardized and comprehensive description of the end of the data life cycle and a corresponding architectural proposal for its integration. We demonstrate the feasibility of the solution through a use case inspired by practice, an evaluation gathered from expert discussions, and a survey. The results indicate that the proposed solution is a promising approach to support end-of-life data management in practice. Collapse

Abstract: Digital work is closely tied to the generation of employee data. In turn, increasing workplace digitalization leads to rising privacy challenges and corresponding employee privacy concerns. Understanding the role of privacy in digital workplaces is essential to enable digital work. On the one hand, the effects of employee privacy concerns are widely studied in research. On the other hand, little is known about what specific privacy challenges lead to employee privacy concerns in the first place. We interviewed 66 employees on their perceptions of privacy in digital workplaces. On this basis, this study proposes a conceptual model of privacy challenges that depicts mechanisms of digital work that influence employees' privacy perceptions. Our findings underline the need to understand the emergence of employee privacy challenges to facilitate the changing nature of work. Collapse

Abstract: The continuous information security failures in organizations have led focus toward organizational culture. It is argued that the development of culture of information security would subsequently lead to a secure organization. However, limited studies have been conducted to understand information security culture. This study aims to understand information security culture and its impact on success with information security efforts in an or­ ganization. The research model is based on the theory of primary message systems, which is an established theory from the anthropology discipline. We followed a mixed-methods research design involving two phases of the study. In the first phase, 25 semi-structured interviews with experienced cybersecurity practitioners were conducted to develop the research model. The second phase empirically validated the research model using survey data from 473 participants who completed a web-based survey in Southeast USA from multiple com­ panies. For data analysis, we employed Partial Least Squares - Structural Equation Modeling using SmartPLS. Our findings indicate that group cohesiveness, professional code, information security awareness, and informal work practices have significant influence on information security culture. Further, the security culture has positive impact on information security success perception. The contribution of this research lies in establishing the role of security culture and information security awareness in contributing toward information security success. Collapse

Abstract: NeuroIS presents a new opportunity for information systems research. Often used neuroscience techniques include brain mapping with the functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) device or eventrelated potential time-domain studies with the electroencephalogram (EEG). The critics of EEG consider the poor spatial resolution as justification for EEG's inadequacy to brain mapping studies. However, the low-resolution electromagnetic tomography (LORETA) technique provides strong estimation parameters allowing EEG to perform brain mapping. This paper presents EEG (with lower number of channels) and LORETA techniques as an effective approach for exploratory investigation specially when researchers are constrained with lack of resources (specially at significantly lower costs). We demonstrate the effectiveness of EEG using sLORETA with respect to fMRI as proof-of-concept approach to study IS phenomenon. The results of such studies can serve as a preliminary step for further analysis with the use of more sophisticated neuroscience devices. This can enhance IS research by taking advantage of both high temporal and spatial resolution leading to reduced estimation errors of neural activity and stronger basis for correlating neural activity and specific tasks. We also present a set of guidelines for using the LORETA family of techniques in IS research. Collapse
