Abstract: Many researchers have studied innovation in terms of either employee innovation or user innovation, but much less is known about the transfer of innovative behavior between the professional and private domains. This quantitative empirical study investigates the relationship between the development of innovations by user innovators in the private domain and the transfer of the innovation to the professional domain and vice versa. Focusing on technology readiness as a moderator on the relationship between the transfer of innovation and innovative behavior in the other domain, we address the importance of digitization for innovations. The study is relied on the spillover theory and conducted as a longitudinal online survey consists of three consecutive waves over a period of four months. The result of the study demonstrates that employee innovation in the professional domain has an impact on innovative behavior in the private domain and, in reverse causality, user innovation in the private domain has an impact on innovative behavior in the professional domain. The relationship between these spillover effects and innovative behavior is strengthened by the technology readiness of innovators. Collapse

Abstract: Recent developments in generative artificial intelligence show how quickly users carelessly adhere to intelligent systems, ignoring systems' vulnerabilities and focusing on their superior capabilities. This is detrimental when system failures are ignored. This paper investigates this mindless overreliance on systems, defined as automation bias (AB), in human-robot interaction. We conducted two experimental studies (N1 = 210, N2 = 438) with social robots in a corporate setting to investigate psychological mechanisms and influencing factors of AB. Particularly, users experience perceptual and behavioral AB with the robot that is enhanced by robot competence depending on task complexity and is even stronger for emotional than analytical tasks. Surprisingly, robot reliability negatively affected AB. We also found a negative indirect-only mediation of AB on robot satisfaction. Finally, we provide implications for the appropriate use of robots to prevent employees from using them as a self-sufficient system instead of a supporting system. Collapse

Abstract: The move to online classes due to the COVID-19 pandemic has led students in high schools to experience new issues because of their constant use of information and communication technologies (ICTs). One of the consequences of constant ICT use is emotional exhaustion, which is raised or limited by different factors. The teachers' sociability is one of the factors that might decrease emotional exhaustion in students during online classes, while technostress could further it. Moreover, technostress creators could act as moderators on the effect of sociability on emotional exhaustion. These effects are tested with the help of a study with 592 participants, discovering that the sociability in online classes has an effect on how emotionally exhausted the students are. The antecedent technostress also has an effect on emotional exhaustion, thus furthering it. This paper contributes to the information systems (IS) literature by showing how students are affected by constant ICT use. Collapse

We apply four post-hoc explanatory methods to demonstrate the explanatory capabilities of these methods for data-driven decision-making using the illustrative example of unwanted job turnover and human resource management (HRM) support. Abstract: Triggered by the Covid-19 pandemic and driven by the need to save financial and environmental resources when conducting in-person anti-doping tests, a remote sampling system (RSS) was developed that may foster the digital transformation of antidoping work. Since research on factors affecting RSS implementation is limited, we apply the Extended Valence Framework (EVF) with decomposed core constructs as the theoretical lens to qualitatively examine perceived benefits, risks, and trust perceptions associated with RSS implementation from multiple organizational perspectives. Interviews with twelve C-level representatives of anti-doping organizations indicate support for RSS implementation, as interviewees perceive a positive net balance of benefits and risks. However, the regulatory authority expressed skepticism due to perceived risks and limited trust perception. Our results contribute to IS research by providing a contextualized EVF for future qualitative and quantitative research. Moreover, we offer practical proposals to address perceived risks and promote reciprocal trust when implementing an RSS. Collapse

The use of simulation models and digital twins is manifold, from planning to virtual commission and real-time operational decision support. Cyber-physical systems integrate the real world and the virtual world to enable decision making in the age of Industry 4.0.For example, customer decisions and supply disruptions which directly influence manufacturing and logistics systems require immediate decisions. Abstract: Climate change and the fast-changing natural environment necessitate firms to adapt their way of doing business towards environmental sustainability. As information systems (IS) are seen as a potential lever to facilitate this adaptation successfully, this study focuses on the role of ISrelated human capital of top management team (TMT) members in facilitating green IS innovation activities in firms. Using a panel data set of firms listed in the S&P 500 index, this study finds that IS-related education and experience of TMT members are positively associated with green IS innovation activities. In addition, the results show that the presence of a CIO positively moderates the positive association of IS-related experience with green IS innovation activities. Consequently, this study contributes to the IS literature on the intersection of human capital theory from an upper echelon perspective and environmental sustainability. Collapse

Abstract: Advancing digital collaboration and fostering effective communication among a widespread workforce continues to be a perpetual challenge for companies. Organizations are progressively turning to Enterprise Social Media (ESM) because they promise new avenues for collaborative working. However, most ESMs fail to reach a wider adoption by the workforce, owing to an underutilization by the employees. To enhance the understanding of the underutilization phenomenon, we use affordance actualization theory as our theoretical lens to critically study the challenges employees face in their attempt to actualize respective ESM affordances. By analyzing comments from 992 frequent, infrequent, and discontinued ESM users from a large multinational company, we uncover four major challenges. By enhancing our understanding of ESM affordances and by incorporating the full spectrum from problem identification to solution, we provide practical advice for digital leaders and meaningful theoretical implications for the IS community. Abstract: Cloud computing has become an integral part of modern corporate IT infrastructures. However, conventional IT-security measures cannot cope with its specific technical needs resulting from complexity, virtualization, or multi-tenancy as well as the need for holistic security approaches incorporating both technological and organizational perspectives on security. Security Chaos Engineering (SCE) constitutes a promising approach to overcome these shortcomings. Unfortunately, existing literature focuses on technical aspects of SCE and neglects the organizational perspective, i.e., which organizational success factors need to be addressed for a successful implementation. To close this gap, we conducted an interview study following the approach of Gioia et al. (2013) and identified seven success factors related to goals, social structure, participants, and technology within a company following Scott (1981). Furthermore, we found that these organizational success factors are not only the basis for the introduction of SCE but represent common requirements for holistic security approaches in general, too.
