Abstract: Advanced analytics can be used to gain comprehensive insights into real-time production processes. They are commonly subdivided into predictive and prescriptive analytics. While descriptive analytics only reflect current states of machinery, predictive analytics enables statements about the future. Going one step further, prescriptive analytics cover automated recommendations for action based on these predictions. On the one hand, humans as central stakeholders in production shall benefit from the information gained through advanced analytics to make better decisions. On the other hand, predictive and prescriptive analytics dashboards contain additional information and may potentially overwhelm human decision-makers in contrast to descriptive dashboards. In this study, we investigate the perception of human end users on information presented in descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive dashboards and investigate their cognitive absorption and task load. Our results show that more advanced predictive and prescriptive dashboards increase mental demand rather than lowering intellectual requirements. However, we found that prescriptive dashboards reduce user frustration by making decision alternatives and consequences more tangible. Collapse

Abstract: The use of machine learning in digitized production increases potentials for production automation. A milestone on the path to autonomous production is real-time anomaly detection. However, increasing complexity of production makes autonomous decisions difficult to understand for humans as central stakeholders. In this paper, we create a dashboard that incorporates elements from knowledge-based systems, requirements for real-time anomaly detection, and design guidelines for dashboards. Using design science research, the dashboard is designed, implemented and comprehensively evaluated with 98 participants. After the second design science iteration, the dashboard is approved in terms of usefulness and ease of use. Our research primarily contributes to practice, as our implementation constitutes a starting point for designing the interface between humans and autonomous production. We also contribute to academia as the dashboard is an instantiation in the research field of interface design for knowledge-based systems, which can be further developed in future research. Collapse

Abstract: Conceptual models are essential for successful IT implementation, as they concisely represent the system's component structures, behavior, and relationships. However, for conceptual models to fully realize their potential, they must be understood. To this end, hierarchy has been employed in business process modeling to enhance understanding of complex models. Prior research has proposed a two-component framework to explain the effects of hierarchy on understanding. Drawing on empirical data, this work extends this framework by investigating the influence of expertise on the understanding of hierarchical business process models. Our findings indicate that experts and novices benefit from hiding task-irrelevant information in subprocesses, with experts benefiting significantly more than novices. Additionally, experts profit more from recognizing familiar patterns in subprocesses than novices. Based on our results, we propose two principles for designing hierarchy and suggest future research avenues. Collapse

Abstract: Interventions for noncommunicable diseases (NCDSs) often require changing behaviors. In this regard, habitual behaviors (i.e., habits) are positively evaluated to foster behavioral changes. Forming habits is challenging but can be supported digitally. This paper reviews the requirements of forming habits and investigates how these requirements are implemented in habit apps. Based on the results, design principles are discussed for digital therapeutics. In contrast to conventional apps, digital therapeutics have a medical purpose and can be prescribed for the time it needs for a habit to form. The results reveal that conventional apps try to bind the user and ignore the state where the habit needs to be strengthened by decreasing technology use. In this regard, digital therapeutics reveal potential in supporting the formation of habits to prevent and treat NCDs.This section aims to provide a background on prior research in psychology and humancomputer interaction (HCI) related to habit formation and its digital support to extrapolate MRs for effective app design. Abstract: This paper focuses on the integration of digital therapeutics (DTx) into future-oriented and patientcentric care pathways. Based on a workshop series and problem-centered interviews in Germany, the current state-of-the-art of regulatory and technical integration of DTx was mapped as a landscape of DTx interoperability. The results focus on key interfaces of DTx, namely with Electronic Health Records (EHRs), devices, and other digital health innovations such as telemedicine, and highlight current challenges and potentials for future development. On a broader level, the results point to unresolved issues of care coordination, the optional role of the EHRs as regulated platforms for care, and the importance of integrating DTx data into public data spaces for research. Abstract: The orchestration of platform ecosystems is becoming increasingly complex due to the growing number of players, complementary services and technological innovations. Interoperability is an important prerequisite for convincing customer journeys as well as functional and quality-assured data exchange and offers increasing potential for automation, especially with the help of machine learning or artificial intelligence. The interoperability maturity model developed in this study can be used as a conceptual framework to measure the interoperability of current and future platform ecosystem components and complements. The model, developed as an artifact of design science research, was evaluated using an iterative approach with orchestrators of health data platforms and their ecosystem. The results suggest that it can contribute to achieving and sustaining integrated value chains with multiple actors and diverse technologies, and can be used to assess the interoperability of care chains (e.g., care scenarios such as diabetes or cardiac insufficiency) and guide future interoperability considerations. Abstract: Our increasingly complex and dynamic environment demands comprehensive self-regulatory skills from university graduates. Self-regulation summarizes the ability to set goals, monitor progress, and adopt behavior purposefully. In an increasingly technology-enhanced learning environment, information systems (IS) research explores approaches to promote self-regulation in students' learning activities. However, it is unclear whether this self-regulated learning (SRL) prepares students for leadership roles. To address this research gap, we gather survey data and apply multiple regression analysis to examine how SRL strategy usage is linked to self-leadership (SL) strategy usage. Our results suggest that behavioral SL strategies are related to the usage of SRL strategies, e.g., the SL strategy "self-rewarding" to the SRL strategy "repeating". In contrast, SL strategies such as "mental imagery" are unrelated to SRL. Based on these findings, we suggest a target-oriented use of digital technologies to foster SL and reveal the need to promote SL strategies like "mental imagery" separately. Collapse

Abstract: To counteract the high academic stress of students and subsequent health problems, a behavior change support system (BCSS) for self-regulated learning is developed. Since use continence is a prerequisite for the system's supporting effects, this study examines design requirements that promote its use continuance. While previous studies on BCSS's use continuance are mostly quantitative using pre-defined constructs, this study additionally considers qualitative statements to exploratively identify additional requirements. Analysis of statements from 54 students and quantitative data from 25 students identifies 19 design requirements, which can be synthesized into ten meta requirements. These findings support the integration of already defined design principles, e.g., self-monitoring, but also reveal new requirements, e.g., a low-threshold character or the promotion of learning about the targeted behavior. The data also suggest that the design of the BCSS does not affect all students equally, but that perceptions of use continuance are dependent on individual preferences. Collapse
