Abstract: The use of cloud computing continues to increase in Germany, according to Germany’s digital association. However, threats to information security stand in the way of a comprehensive acceptance and penetration of cloud computing. Secure software development is described in the standard ISO/IEC 27001, security control A.14.2 “Security in development and support processes” and in the cloud related code of practice standard ISO/IEC 27017 in chapter 14.2 “Security in development and support processes”. Secure software development has the potential to reduce vulnerabilities and thus increase the security level of applications. When implementing a secure software development process of cloud applications, the question for organizations is which factors have a positive influence on success, where success is defined as an increased security level of cloud applications. This paper contributes to answering the questions of (RQ1) what potential success factors exist in secure software development of cloud applications in Germany and (RQ2) what role does strategic and operational aspects play. Abstract: The metaverse refers to merging the physical and virtual environments, providing new opportunities for transferring real-world identities into the digital space. Mapping identities into the metaverse is done using blockchain tokens. Therefore, we define the set of metaverse services associated with a blockchain as "blockchain-based metaverse" (BM). While blockchain applications have long been considered more privacy-preserving than centralized applications, we argue that the underlying premises of this assumption have changed for the BM context. Since blockchain transactions are pseudonym-based, it is generally possible to link them to real-world identities. This probability has increased in the BM, making inferences about identities more likely, which completely changes the privacy situation. In our paper, we conceptually re-assess the privacy assumption of blockchains and suggest four propositions to demonstrate how the privacy level changes in the BM. We also provide technical and organizational measures to address the privacy shortcomings and present a research agenda. Collapse

Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic forced information workers across the world to work from home. This situation removes the physical boundary between work and home, impacting their work-life balance. How information workers configure the digital workplace (DWP) to manage their workplace boundaries and what effect this has on their individual job satisfaction remains unclear. To close this gap in the literature, 202 information workers completed an online survey. The findings partially confirm existing theory that more work flexibility increases job satisfaction while more work permeability decreases job satisfaction. However, depending on the flexibility and permeability of their work-home boundaries, the frequency with which information workers use DWP tools has cross-over effects on job satisfaction. The findings contribute to boundary theory and the new stream of digital workplace literature. Collapse

Abstract: This study explored different hyperparameters and their outcomes on multiple DNN architectures by incorporating transfer learning technique on the plant seedling dataset. Optimizers can have different strengths and weaknesses, and their performance may depend on the specific characteristics of the model and the dataset being used. We have observed that the choice of the optimizer is just one of many hyperparameters that can affect the performance of deep neural network (DNN) models. Other hyperparameters, such as the droprate, number of epochs, and batch size, can also have a significant impact. MobileNetV2 demonstrated superior performance while maintaining a smaller model size, making it a highly valuable option for edge devices where size is a crucial factor. Collapse

Abstract: This study focuses on algorithmic interactions in open source work. Algorithms are essential in open source because they remedy concerns incompletely addressed by parallel development or modularity. Following algorithmic interactions in open source allows us to map the performance of algorithms to understand the nature of work conducted by multiple algorithms functioning together. We zoom to the level of algorithmic interactions to show how residual interdependencies of modularity are worked around by algorithms. Moreover, the dependence on parallel development does not suffice to resolve all concerns related to the distributed work of open source. We examine the Linux Kernel case that reveals how algorithmic interactions facilitate open source work through the three processes of managing, organizing, and supervising development work. Our qualitative study theorizes how algorithmic interactions intensify through these processes that work together to facilitate development. We make a theoretical contribution to open source scholarship by explaining how algorithmic interactions navigate across module rigidity and enhance parallel development. Abstract: This study aims to address the scant research on emerging economies, especially the rural population, which are expected to drive the significant growth of mobile payment services. We developed a research model using dual-factor theory as an overarching umbrella by considering the users’ perception of both enablers and inhibitors of mobile payments. The enablers and inhibitors of mobile payments were drawn from the extant literature, driving users’ satisfaction and leading to continued usage. To test the proposed research model, we collected responses from 412 respondents from rural settings in India. The study finds that the enablers positively affect satisfaction, and the impact of inhibitors was negative. The findings validate the importance and existence of inhibitors along with enablers of mobile payments. The findings would benefit the government, policymakers, marketers, and other stakeholders interested in digitization of the rural economy, empowerment of rural people, and rural market penetration. Abstract: Recommendation systems (RSs) are artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms that utilize customers' product interests or preferences in their response to product search requests. However, AI-powered RSs have been investigated for perpetuating biases. This research extends the theoretical understanding of how customers perceive the fairness of RSs and the factors that impact this perception. Although equity theory has been studied in the management literature to explain the variations in individuals' reactions towards (un)fairness of managerial and organizational decisions, its effect on the perceived fairness of AI systems such as RSs has yet to be studied. Our study extends the extant research by 1) examining how customers' sensitivity to equity impact their perceived fairness of RSs and 2) how the perceived fairness of such systems influences customers' satisfaction, attitudinal, and behavioral loyalties toward e-commerce platforms recommendation systems. Further, our study will help e-commerce managers better understand customers' psychological profiles and predict their responses to RSs (un)fairness. Abstract: Online matching platforms lack common informational mechanisms such as ratings and reviews that serve to reduce information asymmetry in transactional platforms. The lack of verified information about participants further exacerbates issues of information asymmetry in such markets. This study focuses on a novel role of verification in such matching markets—its ability to serve as a credible signal for a user when such verification is made optional and visible to other users. In collaboration with a leading online dating platform with no reputation mechanisms and where most of the information is self-disclosed, we design and conduct a randomized field experiment to examine not only who chooses to verify but also, the effectiveness of such optional verification for different types of users. Interestingly, we find that users on the two sides use the same signal very differently. Males act consistent with the conventional prediction of signaling, with high-type males being more likely to opt in to verification. As for females, we find that medium-type females are the most likely to opt in to verification as compared with high-type females. We also find that such differential opt-in decisions are related to the differences in the credibility of the existing key attribute of each side (viz., income for males and beauty for females). In examining the outcomes of verification, we find that verified users receive more contacts from higher-type users, with the high-type males and medium-type females benefitting the most. More interestingly, we find that verified users become more proactive and reach out to more and better potential partners. Further, the introduction of this voluntary verification facilitates desirable matching outcomes and benefits the platform as a whole.
