Abstract: In the context of digital transformation, having a data-driven organizational culture has been recognized as an important factor for data analytics capabilities, innovativeness and competitive advantage of firms. However, the current literature on data-driven culture (DDC) is fragmented, lacking both a synthesis of findings and a theoretical foundation. Therefore, the aim of this work has been to develop a comprehensive framework for understanding DDC and the mechanisms that can be used to embed such a culture in organizations as well as structuring prior dispersed findings on the topic. Based on the foundation of organizational culture theory, we employed a Design Science Research (DSR) approach using a systematic literature review and expert interviews to build and evaluate a transformation-oriented framework. This research contributes to knowledge by synthesizing previously dispersed knowledge in a holistic framework, as well as, by providing a conceptual framework to guide the transformation towards a DDC. Abstract: Self-regulated learning competencies are of increasing importance to ensure learning success in online learning environments. We investigate the use of digital social nudges in a self-reliant online learning situation to support learners in better managing their self-regulated learning behaviors. We ground our research on dual-process theory and social comparison theory to design social nudges. To evaluate our research model, we conduct an online experiment (N=226). The results show that social nudges positively impact learning outcomes mediated by self-regulated learning behaviors manifested using learning strategies. We found that positive emotions can further strengthen the positive effect of social nudges. Our results help to understand how social nudges can be efficiently used in online learning environments to support learners in better managing their learning processes and achieving learning outcomes. We open new chances for researchers and designers of online learning materials to support online learning processes. Collapse

Abstract: Data ecosystems are driven by political and market demands but face strong barriers that require their own socio-technical infrastructure for their realization. In particular, the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) has distinct characteristics and requirements for software-based IIoT data ecosystem infrastructures to facilitate inter-organizational, trusted data sharing and value creation. However, the design and purposeful management of infrastructures are challenging, as they emerge organically. To identify opportunities and foundations for design knowledge contributions, this study assesses in a structured literature review a total of 415 papers about digital infrastructures for their applicability to data ecosystem settings considering data as main asset, data sovereignty, trust, and common value propositions. The findings suggest that industrial data ecosystems and digital infrastructure research are so far not connected, despite some implicit overlaps exist. Therefore, a research agenda is presented as well as a concept matrix with the main findings from existing infrastructural research. Collapse

Abstract: The massive growth of data and the increasing potential of data analytics in industrial production fuel the emergence of data spaces and corresponding platforms that realize data ecosystems and enable data-driven sustainability applications. To leverage their benefits of demand-driven and scalable data integration, the stakeholders of emerging data space initiatives must make informed decisions about their data space support platforms (DSSPs). This study proposes a conceptual framework based on federated architectures and by considering existing endeavors of data infrastructures. Based on existing literature about data ecosystem resources and an explorative single case study of an industrial data space with sustainability-focused applications, we elaborate on the key design options of data, services, and computing infrastructures. The resulting conceptual framework guides design decisions for DSSPs. The framework captures not only the resources involved but also the operational concepts of federated services and shared services to introduce governance mechanisms and sustainability policies. Abstract: This study explores the challenge of maintaining motivation in further education for working students, who face the double burden of work and learning. To address this issue, we investigate the design and implementation of a pedagogical conversational agent (PCA) within a web-based training (WBT) platform. Drawing on literature, interviews with 11 experts, and a creative workshop with 14 working students, we use the Hexad user type framework to tailor the WBT to each user's motivational archetype. We prioritize design features for each of the six archetypes and instantiate these in a prototype. In a field experiment with 17 working students using the WBT prototype for exam preparation, we observe a significant increase in intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. This study contributes to the emerging field of PCA-enhanced digital learning, highlighting the potential of personalized motivation in persuasive dialogue systems. Collapse

Abstract: In this Wizard-of-Oz experiment, we assess the impact of language style (dominant vs. submissive) on students' perception of a chatbot in a learning context. 38 probands were involved in this within-subject experiment while learning about Digital Literacy in a guided text-based conversation via Slack, in which they supposedly interacted with a chatbot. We quantitatively measured constructs in a follow-up survey and discussed implications with the probands and 14 other students from a bachelor's course on digital transformation. Results show that the dominant language style significantly negatively affected learners' enjoyment during the interaction, but did not reveal a significant influence on perceived competence, empathy, identification, trust, or usefulness between the two contrasted language styles. Our qualitative results indicate that language style preference depends on learning context, interaction time, and learner personality. We reflect on future research needed to build upon these initial findings. Collapse

Abstract: Further education students who work in parallel are particularly challenged by multiple loads leading to overscheduling and exhaustion. Learning Companions (LCs) in their role as virtual relationshiporiented Pedagogical Conversational Agents might facilitate the burden of learning through recurring long-term interactions. Our contribution derives design knowledge for LCs as bonding time managers from a service-oriented perspective along the three layers of the value in interaction model. By synthesizing the findings of a systematic literature review and user needs from six qualitative interviews with the target group, we derive 24 design requirements and iteratively synthesize five design principles supported by the formative evaluation of a low-fidelity prototype. We intend to contextualize a valuedriven, service-oriented perspective on the design of time-managing LCs in further education. Collapse

Abstract: The growing intercultural mobility in academia necessitates the culturally-specific design of digital learning artifacts such as Pedagogical Conversational Agents (PCAs). We coded two PCA prototypes and manipulated the variable "power distance" adapted to Chinese versus German (learning) culture. We measured perceived competence, usefulness, identification, social presence, enjoyment, and trust in each PCA among the two groups of German and Chinese university students in an online experiment, ran statistical analyses, and reflected thereupon in a qualitative follow-up workshop. Our findings show significant differences in comparing the measured constructs between the two cultures and PCAs. We essentially demonstrate that German students prefer a PCA as a Learning Companion with a low power distance, strong social bonding, and vivid interactions, while Chinese students ascribe more value to a superior PCA instructor, that emphasizes power distance through structure and high efficiency. We conclusively discuss the need for a more culture-specific and value-driven design of PCAs. Collapse

Abstract: As chatbots are gaining popularity in customer service, it is critically important for companies to continuously analyze and improve their chatbots' performance. However, current analysis approaches are often limited to the question-answer level or produce highly aggregated metrics (e.g., conversations per day) instead of leveraging the full potential of the large volume of conversation data to provide actionable insights for chatbot developers and chatbot managers. To address this challenge, we developed a novel chatbot analytics approachconversation miningbased on concepts and methods from process mining. We instantiated our approach in a conversation mining system that can be used to visually analyze customer-chatbot conversations at the process level. The results of four focus group evaluations suggest that conversation mining can help chatbot developers and chatbot managers to extract useful insights for improving customer service chatbots. Our research contributes to research and practice with novel design knowledge for conversation mining systems. Collapse
