Abstract: Since the European information economy faces insufficient access to and joint utilization of data, data ecosystems increasingly emerge as economical solutions in B2B environments. Contrarily, in B2C ambits, concepts for sharing and monetizing personal data have not yet prevailed, impeding growth and innovation. Their major pitfall is European data protection law that merely ascribes human data subjects a need for data privacy while widely neglecting their economic participatory claims to data. The study reports on a design science research (DSR) approach addressing this gap and proposes an abstract reference system architecture for an ecosystem centered on humans with personal data. In this DSR approach, multiple methods are embedded to iteratively build and evaluate the artifact, i.e., structured literature reviews, design recovery, prototyping, and expert interviews. Managerial contributions embody novel design knowledge about the conceptual development of human-centric B2C data ecosystems, considering their legal, ethical, economic, and technical constraints. Abstract: The governance of corruption is increasingly important in a global business environment involving ever more frequent transactions across diverse institutional contexts. Previous scholarship has theorized a fundamental tension between the enforcement of organizational compliance and the achievement of social ends, finding that efforts to remedy policy-practice decoupling in the governance of corruption and other complex global issues can exacerbate means-ends decoupling. However, these studies have tended to apply a rather static lens to a highly evaluative and processual phenomenon, meaning we still lack in-depth understanding of the dynamics underlying the interactive communicative processes of sensemaking and negotiation involved in working out the problems of both means-ends and policy-practice decoupling across different institutional contexts. To address this gap, we present a longitudinal qualitative study of the governance of corruption that identifies the emergence of locally contingent and open-ended sensemaking processes arising from and surrounding problems of decoupling. Specifically, we identify four key sensemaking mechanisms across different contexts and periods that ultimately shifted the focus of the actors away from a compliance-based approach toward a new shared understanding of progress as achievement, i.e., the mechanisms of localized theorizing, leveling, recalibrating, and public criticizing. Based on these findings, we develop a model to explain the role of sensemaking in the governance of corruption and the dynamics of decoupling. Abstract: The true potential of human-AI collaboration lies in exploiting the complementary capabilities of humans and AI to achieve a joint performance superior to that of the individual AI or human, i.e., to achieve complementary team performance (CTP). To realize this complementarity potential, humans need to exercise discretion in following AI's advice, i.e., appropriately relying on the AI's advice. While previous work has focused on building a mental model of the AI to assess AI recommendations, recent research has shown that the mental model alone cannot explain appropriate reliance. We hypothesize that, in addition to the mental model, human learning is a key mediator of appropriate reliance and, thus, CTP. In this study, we demonstrate the relationship between learning and appropriate reliance in an experiment with 100 participants. This work provides fundamental concepts for analyzing reliance and derives implications for the effective design of human-AI decision-making. Collapse

Abstract: In our increasingly knowledge-based society the need for innovative concepts within the discipline of Knowledge Management (KM) becomes clear. Therefore, this article aims to shed light on current and uprising innovative technologies and concepts within the discipline of KM. This study conveys recent and previous scientific literature on the relevance of uprising innovative concepts within the various dimensions of KM. We conducted a systematic literature review (SLR) on various literature sources to cover the whole spectrum of innovative KM approaches. All 37 reviewed articles originate from acknowledged sources and were written in English. The findings show, which innovative concepts show relevance within KM, how they are classified into the three innovation categories social, technological, and organizational, how they manifest within KM and what to expect from future KM innovations. Abstract: Self-regulated learning (SRL) is an important skill for academic performance. Still, most university students show deficiencies in one or all areas of SRL. This skill gap can negatively impact the learning process, leading to subpar outcomes or even students dropping out of tertiary education. The good news is that self-regulated learning can be taught. However, traditional learning formats such as coaching or online courses come with the limitations of either not scaling well or lacking effectiveness. Mobile digital assistants represent one promising approach to address these problems. This work presents the preliminary results of an ongoing design science research project to design the mobile digital assistant Amsl. We describe initial design knowledge in the form of meta-requirements, design principles, and design decisions. In addition, we describe the first instantiation of Amsl, intending to help students become successful self-regulated learners. Collapse

Abstract: With the growing digitalization of businesses, digital security governance (DSG) is becoming central to organizational survival strategies. However, many organizations fail to establish successful DSG practices and, consequently, fail to understand how DSG can lower the severity of cybersecurity failures. This paper aims to contribute to filling this gap. By putting the five principles of the High Reliability Organization (HRO) central to the design of our qualitative investigation, we engage in interviewing forty-two chief information security officers (CISOs) and chief information officers (CIOs) of large organizations in the Netherlands about their views on why organizations fail to successfully achieve DSG. Our data show that HRO principles are partly relevant but lacking in DSG approaches, which potentially increases security failure. We conclude this paper by discussing these findings in light of future research and practice. Collapse

This recurring phenomenon of hyperbolic expectations followed by their disillusionment has drawn vast attention amongst researchers in the fields of management and information systems (IS), leading to its conceptual embedding within fashion theory. This proposed study aims to extend the sparse empirical body on IT fashion research, thereby deepening the understanding of the associated organizational consequences regarding an essential organizational outcome, namely organizational legitimacy. In this course, I focus on organizational legitimacy in the eyes of sell-side securities analysts which acknowledges recent findings that identify them as a key source of institutional pressures for legitimacy. Further, I plan to analyze whether and how the respective perception of legitimacy might differ contingent upon different firm characteristics such as industry affiliation or ownership structure. Abstract: Blockchain-based systems become increasingly attractive targets for cybercrime due to the rising amount of value transacted in respective systems. However, a comprehensive overview of existing attack vectors and a directive discussion of resulting research opportunities are missing. Employing a structured literature review, we extract and analyze 87 relevant attacks on blockchain-based systems and assign them to common attack vectors. We subsequently derive a research framework and agenda for information systems research on the cybersecurity of blockchain-based systems. We structure our framework along the users, developers, and attackers of both blockchain applications and blockchain infrastructure, highlighting the reciprocal relationships between these entities. Our results show that especially socio-technical aspects of blockchain cybersecurity are underrepre­ sented in research and require further attention. Collapse
