Abstract: The Graph Model for Conflict Resolution (GMCR) is a model for analyzing and describing conflicts which is based on concepts of Conflict Resolution Analysis and Game Theory. The GMCR can be used to find possible conflict solutions through a stability analysis. In a conflict situation, decision makers (DMs) can behave differently. Thus, in the literature, there are several solution concepts to accommodate these different behaviors. Among the best-known solutions concepts are: Nash, General Metarationality (GMR) and Sequential Stability (SEQ). A state is considered Nash stable for a DM if it cannot in a single step move to a preferred state. In the case of SEQ and GMR stabilities, a DM anticipates if his/her opponents may react to his/her initial move leading the conflict to a state that is not preferable to the initial one. The difference between these two concepts is that, in SEQ, only reactions which are also beneficial to the opponents are taken into account. However, the definition of SEQ may require a sanction in which an opponent moves away from a state that is SEQ stable for the opponent, a move that seems implausible. Recently, in order to avoid these implausible reactions, Higher-Order Sequential Stabilities have been proposed for bilateral conflicts. In this paper, we extend these concepts for multilateral conflicts and also for coalitional stability analysis. We present results about these concepts and illustrate their importance in the analysis of a Private Brownfield Renovation conflict. Collapse

Abstract: Virtual reality (VR) technologies have gained a steady increase in attention and use in organizations across various industries in recent years. A useful application scenario is VR training, enabling employees to immersively and interactively familiarize with or practice work processes in a safe space without the risk of physical harm or financial consequences for the organization. This research explores how tool representation alternatives in virtual reality training scenarios (VRTS) affect user experience and content transfer. In a two-stage research approach, a total of 20 participants are randomly assigned to one of two VRTS with different tool representation types and interviewed subsequently. The findings indicate that decisions regarding tool representation in VRTS should be based on tool-independent (e.g., the feeling of tool operation) and tool-dependent factors (e.g., tool complexity). Abstract: Distributed ledger technology (DLT) is considered to have a versatile impact on existing and new business models. Especially given its feature of distributed and shared ledgers, this technology is leveraged ideally in cooperative relationships where value creation occurs through business models linking various actors, such as in Ecosystems or Networks. However, it is said that the adoption of DLT is poor or implementations fail. While contemporary research primarily examines the technical capabilities of blockchain, new research, also adapting non-technical views, the cooperative relationship and business model perspective, is scarce. Using qualitative research and comparative analysis, we aim to provide theoretical contributions and practical guidance for DLT in such scenarios. As a first step, we conducted two systematic literature reviews and identified 33 requirements. In the future, we aim to analyze business models leveraging DLT in cooperative relationships to investigate factors driving successful implementations and the potential for classification schemes. Abstract: The swift advancement of digital technologies demands CEOs to prioritize digital innovation strategies to stay competitive. However, an overemphasis on digitality, neglecting aspects like customer focus, operations, and collaboration, can hinder innovation. Using a neural network, we evaluated CEOs' digital strategies by training on 1,000 company pitches and applying this to S&P 500 CEOs ' Shareholder Letters (2001-2018. We discovered an inverted U relationship between digital strategy intensity and innovation performance. This stresses the need for a balanced strategy with the right digital focus. Our research illuminates top executives' digital mindset in driving innovation, emphasizing the potential pitfalls of a purely digital approach. Furthermore, our machine-learning method offers a novel, scalable way to quantify digital strategy, paving the way for subsequent research. Collapse

Abstract: The emergence of Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) technologies drives the offering of non-ownership business models (NOBMs) in the mechanical engineering industry. In a NOBM mechanical engineering firms as machine providers maintain machine ownership and sell their customers only the machine use and/or performance. While literature has already discussed the influence of multiple individual contextual antecedents on the decision of mechanical engineering firms whether to offer NOBMs, little is known about the interplay of these antecedents. By drawing on 16 interview-based cases and fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA), we applied a configurational perspective and identified each two configurations of four key contextual antecedents (high digital service capabilities, high machine standardization, high share of large customers, and high market competition) that lead to presence or absence of NOBM offerings by mechanical engineering firms. Abstract: Artificial intelligence (AI) has an impact on business and society at large while posing challenges and risks. For AI adoption, trustworthiness is paramount, yet there appears to be a gap between theory and practice. Organizations need guidance in quantitatively assessing and improving the trustworthiness of AI systems. To address such challenges, maturity models have shown to be a valuable instrument. However, recent AI maturity models address trustworthiness only at the maturest level. As a response, we propose a model to integrate the concept of trustworthiness across the AI lifecycle management. In doing so, we follow Design Science Research to develop a holistic model highlighting the importance of trustworthiness throughout the AI adoption journey to realize the real value potential. This research-in-progress contributes to the emerging research on human-AI systems and managing AI. Our objective is to use the model for assessing, evaluating, and improving trustworthy AI on an organizational level. Collapse

Abstract: Since the emerging information economy relies heavily on data for advancement and growth, data markets have gained increasing attention. However, while global data economies are evolving and data are increasingly shared among organizations in various data ecosystems, marketplaces for personal data (PDMs) exhibited considerable start-up difficulties, which doomed their majority to either fail quickly or to operate in legal grey zones. Apparently, in recent times, novel PDMs have arisen which seem economically and technically viable. The study investigates this “new generation” from both an economic and a technological perspective. Adhering to a rigorous methodology for taxonomy building and evaluation, 18 dimensions and 59 characteristics are presented alongside which these new PDMs can be designed. Additionally, archetypes are derived. The findings reveal that PDMs tend to follow certain design commonalities holding for data markets generally but comprise specific design elements distinguishing them both from conventional data markets and among each other. Abstract: The ever-growing amounts of data offer companies many opportunities for data-driven-value generation which, in turn, can be multiplied by leveraging data across company boundaries in evolving data ecosystems. However, while such systems increasingly emerge in B2B environments enabling systematic sharing and utilization of “industrial data”, comparable concepts in B2C ambits have not yet prevailed. Despite the rising importance of personal data in the information economy, B2C data ecosystems represent a widely unexplored research area. To remedy this gap, the study generates design principles for human centric B2C data ecosystems to aid in their development. For this purpose, a qualitative interview study with experts of interdisciplinary domains and a structured literature review are conducted both embedded into a methodology for generating design principles. On this basis, derived design principles help to understand peculiarities of data ecosystems in B2C ambits and provide solutions to overcome their obstacles identified in the empirical investigation.
