Abstract: Although the propagation of general information has received much attention, the investigation of misinformation diffusion lacks a citizen-to-authority perspective in the context of a crisis. Using the COVID-19 pandemic as an example, we develop and examine a research model hypothesising the underlying content-related factors contributing to the diffusion of misinformation. The study is tested by a dataset comprising 144K Twitter posts extracted from the United Kingdom from February 2020 to January 2022. We found that the frequency of three content topics (i.e., face protection, international economic support, and screening methods) is negatively associated with the diffusion of misinformation, whereas content similarity is not. Our analysis illustrates different influences of various trending topics on misinformation propagation in the setting of uncertainty management. Accordingly, policymakers, especially in times of crisis, should emphasize more information on preventive behaviours and provide factual messages that can improve public trust, reducing the possibility of misinformation spreading. Abstract: Digital technologies have enriched various consumer shopping patterns across multiple contexts and channels. Smartphones, as the most daily dependent device, have altered and assisted individual shopping decisions in omnichannel retailing. Drawing on the uses and gratifications theory, this research investigates emerging smartphone uses and consumers’ corresponding gratifications in shopping centers. Following a sequential mixedmethods approach, we first conducted semi-structured interviews with forty-three shoppers followed by a tar­ geted survey in the similar fields. The findings allowed us to group nine specific smartphone uses into utilitarian, hedonic and social gratifications; moreover, both utilitarian and hedonic gratifications reduce state anxiety whereas social gratifications do not impact perceived anxiety. Consequently, a reduced level of state anxiety from achieved gratifications will significantly enhance consumer’s purchase intentions. We offer insightful theoretical contributions and implications to marketing practitioners. Collapse

Abstract: Influencer advertising has become an indispensable component of online marketing due to the exponential growth of social influencers and their influence. Whereas the effectiveness of using influencer endorsements is well studied from the brand or company perspective, how the commercial endorsements affect influencers themselves is an important yet unrevealed question. We empirically examine the instantaneous (measured using live comment sentiment) and longer-term (measured using video feedback and follower number change) influence of inserting advertisements in videos on influencers’ reputation. We further investigate how this effect can be moderated when influencers demonstrate stronger endorsement by showing their faces during advertisements. Our result suggests that inserting advertisements have a negative impact on both instantaneous and longer-term viewer engagement; advertisements with influencers’ face showing moderate the negative effect of advertisements on viewers’ instantaneous response, while the different impact between advertisements with/out influencers showing their faces is not significant in the longer term. Abstract: This paper proposes a Conceptual Alignment (CA) Method for conceptual modeling and machine learning. The model consists of a three-step cycle that selects an initial conceptual model, aligns it with machine learning models, and refines both models to reach predictive consistency. Alignment is based on composition methods that can be instantiated by methods that satisfy contribution properties. The Conceptual Alignment Method is applied to a healthcare use case on hospital inpatient discharges. The machine learning model trained for total cost predictions is aligned with a conceptual model. Abstract: The activity of bots can influence the opinions and behavior of people, especially within the political landscape where hot-button issues are debated. To evaluate the bot presence among the propagation trends of opposing politically-charged viewpoints on Twitter, we collected a comprehensive set of hashtags related to COVID-19. We then applied both the SIR (Susceptible, Infected, Recovered) and the SEIZ (Susceptible, Exposed, Infected, Skeptics) epidemiological models to three different dataset states including, total tweets in a dataset, tweets by bots, and tweets by humans. Our results show the ability of both models to model the diffusion of opposing viewpoints on Twitter, with the SEIZ model outperforming the SIR. Additionally, although our results show that both models can model the diffusion of information spread by bots with some difficulty, the SEIZ model outperforms. Our analysis also reveals that the magnitude of the bot-induced diffusion of this type of information varies by subject. Collapse

Abstract: Despite the monetary incentives and the meaningful use mandate to implement electronic health record (EHR) systems in the workplace, users still feel threatened due to the mixed outcomes of using EHR systems. This current study examines success outcomes that enhance users' EHR adoption in an organizational setting through the lens of information systems success model. A theoretical framework is proposed to understand what EHR implementation success means to healthcare professionals, and what systems and user characteristics contribute to EHR implementation success. The proposed model suggests that user capability, EHR usability, and EHR usefulness will affect EHR success outcomes (perceived satisfaction with usage and perceived helpfulness over usage process). The study considers the interaction between technology and user capabilities to impact IS success outcomes and discusses some implications to theory and management. Abstract: The ease of customer data collection has enabled the widespread personalization of content and services in digital platforms. We examine personalization in a hitherto unaddressed context: that of mobile app distribution. Specifically, we develop a comprehensive framework for the personalized ranking of app impressions, leveraging revealed preferences embedded in consumer clickstream data. To improve platform revenues, the framework jointly accounts for consumer utility and cost per action (CPA) margin, which is the revenue earned by the platform per app installation. To this end, we specify a structural model of click and installation choices, jointly estimated as a function of a comprehensive set of numerical (screen rank, quality, and popularity) and textual (titles, descriptions, and reviews) covariates. Our novel data set is at the granular user-impression level and uniquely includes app CPA margins paid to the platform. We conduct a series of policy experiments to quantify the value of personalization. Specifically, we show that a personalized hybrid margin and utility margin ranking scheme outperforms other personalized methods, including those based on utilities alone or a combination of utilities and margins. Abstract: Artificial Intelligence (AI) is viewed as having great potential for the public sector to improve the management of internal activities and the delivery of public services. However, realizing its potential depends on the proper implementation of the technology, which is characterized by unique factors, that afford or constrain its use. What these factors are and how they affect AI implementation is still poorly understood, and scholars call for studies to add empirical evidence to the existing knowledge. This study relies on a case study methodology and, by adopting an abductive approach, applies a double theoretical perspective: the Technology-OrganizationEnvironment (TOE) framework and the Technology Affordances and Constraints Theory (TACT). Drawing on these combined lenses, we develop a conceptual framework that extends previous studies by showing how AI implementation is the result of a combination of contextual factors that are deeply interrelated and, specifically, how AI-related factors bring new affordances and constraints to the application domain.
