Abstract: Data-driven predictions have become an inseparable part of business decisions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has started helping the product and support teams perform more accurate experiments in various business settings. This study proposes a framework for businesses based on inductive learnings related to success and barriers shared on social media platforms. Our goal is to analyse the signals emerging from these conversational opinions from the early adoption of AI, with a focus towards facilitators and barriers faced by teams. Factors like efficiency, innovation, business research, product novelty, manual intervention, adaptability, emotion, support, personal growth, experiential learning, fear of failure and fear of upgradation have been identified based on an exploratory study and then a confirmatory study. We present the learnings through a roadmap for practitioners. This study contributes to the IS literature by delineating AI as a determinant of success and introduces a lot of organizational factors into the model. Collapse

Abstract: Prozessmodelle als Bestandteil von Unternehmensarchitekturen (EA) sollen einen Beitrag zur Bewältigung der Komplexität von Informationssystemen liefern. Die Erstellung dieser Prozessmodelle stellt eine herausfordernde Aufgabe in einer Organisation dar. Das Wissen von Fachexperten und die Einbindung von Fachexperten in die Erstellung dieser Modelle sind dabei wichtige Merkmale erfolgreicher Projekte. Den Fokus der vorliegenden Arbeit bildet die Entwicklung und Anwendung, unter Beachtung des Action Design Research (ADR), einer leicht verständliche Modellierungsmethode und eines Tools zur automatisierten Überführung des damit generierten Expertenwissens in eine operationelle NAF-Architektur. Diese sollen die Einbindung von Fachexperten in den Prozess der Modellierung unterstützen und zur Integration des Expertenwissens beitragen. Collapse

Abstract: Intention has been a key dependent variable in information system (IS) research for the last several decades. It features in various IS acceptance models including the technology acceptance model (TAM), the elaboration likelihood model, the IS success model, and the unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT). In the context of IS adoption and use, intention has been portrayed in different forms including intention to adopt, intention to use, intention to continue use, intention to discontinue, and intention to switch. It has been modeled as an antecedent to behavior, a consequent of behavior, and a proxy for behavior. Prior studies of intention have been contextualized in a various settings involving use contexts (i.e., voluntary vs. mandatory use), populations (i.e., non-adopters, adopters, users), respondents (i.e., students, employees), and duration of use (i.e., limited vs. indefinite time), have used cross-sectional and longitudinal empirical designs, and employed different mea­ surement instruments. This editorial provides a brief review of extant IS literature on intention, highlights un­ derlying issues, and proposes directions for future research. Collapse

Abstract: It is generally agreed that digital social enterprises (DSE) through the digitalization process can contribute to sustainable development. However, there are a few theoretical and empirical studies in this research stream. To address this knowledge gap, we conducted a qualitative interpretive case study in Nepal. Applying the theory of affordances as an analytical tool, we identified five digital affordances: transactability, communicability, accessibility, manageability, and digitizability. By actualizing these affordances, DSEs can contribute to access to market and finance, social engagement, waste management, and digitized information. We also identified various challenges such as lack of awareness about digital affordances and capabilities to actualize those affordances, lack of digital culture, and poor mapping system that can inhibit the actualization of the affordances and showed the facilitating conditions that can address these challenges. Abstract: Maritime transports play a vital role for several industries in enabling efficient and sustainable transportation of goods. Ports are central hubs in the transport chain since they connect the maritime and land-based transport systems. The central position of ports makes them critical enablers of efficiency through digital connectivity but also implies that they need to consider many types of participating agents with whom they form episodic tight couplings. However, the industry's digitalization level remains relatively low, and we know little of the challenges facing ports in increasing it. Through a case study of digitalization in Swedish small-and medium-sized ports handling different types of cargo and serving different types of transport modes, we identify key objectives and critical challenges underlying digitalization processes in ports. Abstract: Ensuring data privacy is an essential objective competing with the ever-rising capabilities of machine learning approaches fueled by vast amounts of centralized data. Federated learning addresses this conflict by moving the model to the data and ensuring the data itself does not leave a client's device. However, maintaining privacy impels new challenges concerning algorithm performance or fairness of the algorithm's results that remain uncovered from a sociotechnical perspective. We tackle this research gap by conducting a structured literature review and analyzing 152 articles to develop a taxonomy of federated learning applications with nine dimensions and 24 characteristics. Our taxonomy illustrates how different attributes of federated learning may affect the trade-off between an algorithm's privacy, performance, and fairness. Despite an increasing interest in the technical implementation of federated learning, our work is one of the first to emphasize an information systems perspective on this emerging and promising topic. Abstract: This study examines the University of Oulu, Finland teaching staff's experiences of flipped teaching. Flipped teaching transposes the locations so that students watch recorded lectures or read and view other materials on their own time and participate in learning activities in the classroom. Flipped teaching facilitates communal learning, which enables students to support each other and benefit from interaction with the teacher. However, there is little research about flipped teaching from the perspective of teachers in higher education. In this study, most teachers reported positive experiences of the method, particularly regarding the interaction between teachers and students. Teachers require both pedagogical and technological support as well as a sufficient allocation of time to course design, particularly in the beginning stages of implementation. To ensure the successful implementation of flipped teaching, it is important to monitor the pre-class activities of students to ensure they are studying the materials provided. Collapse

Abstract: To achieve organizational goals and remain competitive, evaluating, selecting, and managing IT projects and proposals to build a value-driven portfolio is a critical activity. IT project portfolio management (ITPPM) tools assist these portfolio-related activities, support strategic decision-makers, and help complete more IT projects successfully. Despite existing research on this topic, knowledge about the characteristics and design elements of ITPPM tools is still limited. We develop a taxonomy based on scientific literature and 60 real-word ITPPM tools with four perspectives, 20 dimensions, and 51 characteristics. Subsequently, we perform a cluster analysis and identify five ITPPM tool archetypes. Our results and findings contribute to the knowledge base and integrate scientific and practical knowledge to build the basis for further research on ITPPM tools. Further, we structure the ITPPM tool market, guide practitioners in selecting an appropriate ITPPM tool and support the development of new solutions or develop existing ones further. Collapse
