Abstract: The purpose of this Minitrack is to focus on research on the intersection of knowledge systems, knowledge management, security, and risk management. It seeks papers that investigate issues related to security and protection of intellectual assets and explore how organizations can use security measures to protect their KM practices.During th existence of this minitrack, we have published twenty five papers that focus on the intersection of knowledge management and organizational or individual security and knowledge risk. These papers belong to one of the following emerging themes: (1) Protecting Confidentiality of Knowledge.; (2) Protecting Integrity of Knowledge;(3) Protecting Knowledge Loss Risk; and (4) Improving Knowledge of Safe Cyber Behavior.This year's papers follow the tradition of bringing papers that are at the intersection of security and KM; both span across multiple themes. The first paper by Foli and Durst proposes a holistic model that highlights the interrelationships among factors that contribute to knowledge leakage in collaborative projects. They find that incomplete contracts and insufficient technological competence are the principal factors contributing to knowledge leakage within collaborative projects. They also provide significant methodological contributions in the knowledge risk and leakage literature by their use of ISM and MICMAC techniques. With their model Foli and Durst demonstrate the complexity of knowledge leakage, an issue much discussed also in this track in previous years.The second paper by Lathrop, Croasdell and Elste explores the ever current dilemma of small and middle businesses (SMB): how to navigate the digital transformation era and nurture cyber security competence and readiness with the limited resources and capabilities available. They propose a model for SMBs to enhance their cyber capabilities with cybersecurity assessments and regular training provided by the National Guard's Defensive Cyber Operations Element (DCO-E). Leveraging the capabilities of the DCO-E, in effect a "national cybersecurity squad," to support a national cyber readiness and education campaign could be an effective method to enhance the cybersecurity of SMBs. This model could be adapted also to other national contexts, and it would be interesting to see comparative studies of similar practices in other countries in the future.The minitrack co-chairs want to thank authors and reviewers for their work in making the years of the minitrack a success. We encourage authors whose research focus is on the intersection of knowledge management and individual or organizational security to submit their work to this minitrack in the future. Research focusing on cybersecurity training is also welcome. Collapse

Abstract: The success of information technology outsourcing projects largely depends on the extent to which partners are willing to learn through interactions with each other. This study investigates the antecedents and consequences of relational learning between clients and vendors in outsourcing projects. Drawing on the collaboration framework in interfirm relationships research, this study examines the interdependence of coordination and cooperation. The two antecedents of relational learning (i.e., shared domain knowledge and motivational elements) represent coordination and cooperation mechanisms. We investigate the independent (main) and interdependent (moderation) effects of these mechanisms on relational learning from both the client and vendor perspectives. The findings show that the interdependent model is better in explaining the impact of coordination and cooperation mechanisms in outsourcing projects. This finding enables partners to understand relationship dynamics more comprehensively and develop collaboration mechanisms that can bring synergy between coordination and cooperation. Abstract: The recent technological evolution of the Internet of Things (IoT) and data sciences has created opportunities for intrapreneurs in non-platform firms to expand their businesses into platform ecosystem-related businesses. However, previous studies have typically focused on cases involving entrepreneurs. This study aims to clarify how intrapreneurs’ design for platform ecosystems could be different from that of entrepreneurs. We conducted an action design research (ADR) project in collaboration with a company for 29 months, and designed a platform ecosystem structure based on technological platforms related to radio frequency identifiers (RFID). Our main contribution is the following six-step process that describes how intrapreneurs design platform ecosystems: (1) designing an initial ecosystem structure based on platform ecosystem concepts and certain concepts related to the targeted market; (2) analyzing past business cases; (3) making the ecosystem structure into concrete shape; (4) verifying its validity; (5) elaborating the ecosystem structure; and (6) proposing the designed ecosystem business. Our findings highlight the differences between intrapreneurs’ and entrepreneurs’ designs of the ecosystem. First, when the design processes are underway, the direction of the design of the ecosystem needs to be flexibly modified to align with the strategy of the firm. Second, evidence for the success of the proposed platform ecosystem is required to reduce uncertainty and clarify the legitimacy of the proposition. Third, the structure of a platform ecosystem designed by intrapreneurs becomes a style that supports the existing businesses and networks of the firm. Collapse

Abstract: Achieving Customer Success (CS) has become the primary goal for Anything as a service (XaaS) vendors with recurring revenue models to provide continuous value to their customers. This article attempts to present the theoretical insights on the key drivers of CS Management and proposes a conceptual framework based on 32 in-depth interviews with CS Practitioners. First, this article analyses the theoretical foundations and customer value management challenges for the newly emerging field of CS for subscription-based business models. Second, this article outlines three key drivers (prevent churn, increase success, ensure usage continuance from the conceptual framework) for CS from the voices of practicing CS professionals using the Grounded Theory Method (GTM). Third, this article analyzes the key drivers along with root cause analysis for churn and recognizes the practical implications of operating model shifts involved in moving to subscription models for XaaS vendors. Abstract: International trade thrives on the unimpeded flow of trade finance. However, trade finance in its traditional form is itself hindered by several factors, such as heavy reliance on the network of financial institutions, including trade finance organizations, banks, and syndicates of different trading nations. This makes the trade financing process complex, inefficient, unsafe, and unreliable. Against this backdrop, the present study aims to examine how blockchain-based governance can improve trade finance operations by making them not only transparent and accountable but also less risky. This study draws upon institutional theory to delve into pertinent aspects of the use of blockchain-based governance for managing trade finance. The findings are expected to reveal how inherent affordances of blockchain such as transparency can mitigate the systemic issues in the traditional approach to make trade finance more sustainable. Abstract: Blockchain technology (BCT) has the potential to transform strategic alliances for reverse logistics, yet its specific impact on sustainability remains unclear. This study aims to ascertain the post-implementation impact of BCT-based strategic alliances on information technology reverse logistics. Drawing on a qualitative research design, it presents a preliminary understanding of BCT-based strategic alliances (i.e., collaborations) in reverse logistics. To address this study's research question, a conceptual framework based on a prior literature review is proposed to guide qualitative data collection. Next, the study analyzes the respondents' voices considering the dynamic capability perspective. Sustainability realization is viewed as the main driver for reverse logistics alliances, and the study explores these alliances' capabilities for sustainability through BCT technology. The study findings significantly contribute to the BCT literature in reverse logistics by assessing BCT-based strategic alliances in reverse logistics and realizing sustainability. Collapse

Abstract: A key objective of data-driven transformations is to utilize big data analytics (BDA) to create data-driven business value (DDBV). While prior research shows the potential of BDA to achieve DDBV, the concept remains blurry and an overview of realizable DDBVs is still lacking. To better understand the multidimensionality of the DDBV concept and to obtain insights into the bandwidth of achievable DDBVs, we conducted a systematic review of the information systems literature. Based on our results, we present a comprehensive overview of 34 DDBVs, which are classified according to their tangibility and locus of value realization. Furthermore, we describe three research deficiencies: (1) the missing operationalization of the DDBV concept, (2) the lack of explanatory mechanisms for DDBV realization, and (3) missing qualitative, in-depth insights into DDBV realization processes. Future research may build upon our systematization and help closing these research gaps, thereby increasing the success likelihood of data-driven initiatives. Collapse

Abstract: Recently, virtual influencers (VIs) have become a more frequent alternative to human influencers (HIs). VIs can be described as non-human agents who behave in a human-like pattern. Big enterprises such as Prada, Porsche, Samsung, or Ikea have already collaborated with VIs in the past. Even though it should be clear to users that VIs cannot practice values and virtues in the real world, VIs seem to express certain virtues. This research paper focuses on identifying virtues conveyed by VIs and the effect of expressing virtues on follower engagement by conducting a qualitative content analysis of social media posts. Furthermore, we checked on VIs being abused by companies to convey a more favorable image. Our findings suggest that conveying certain virtues seems to have a positive effect on the engagement. In addition, some VIs were used by companies for virtue signaling without being noticed by their followers. Collapse
