Abstract: Financial robo-advisors have been widely used to assist individuals in their investment decisions, making it important to reduce uncertainties in the assistance process. Existing empirical studies rarely explore uncertainty reduction strategies and their implications on users’ investment intentions in the context of financial roboadvisors; our study attempts to address this gap. We construct a model to explain how uncertainty reduction strategies affect users’ investment intention in using financial robo-advisors. By collecting and analyzing a sample of 307 financial robo-advisor users, we find that algorithmic interpretability, structural assurance, and interactivity as uncertainty reduction strategies are positively related to users’ investment intention through the value-based adoption mechanism. Our research extends the value-based adoption model and uncertainty reduction theory in the financial robo-advisor context. We provide insights to financial robo-advisor service providers about focusing on improving algorithmic transparency, third-party assurance, and interactivity of financial robo-advisors to enhance perceived value and investment intention. Abstract: This paper traces the expansion of a network of IoT sensors to improve the effectiveness of a centralised control room in Brazil in anticipating natural hazards. This centralised model relies on using IoT data by highly qualified experts replacing previous smaller local structures. We draw on the notion of Situational Awareness to carry out the study. Results show that although the operators were not always familiar with the characteristics of locations, the use of IoT data heightened their situational awareness in the centralised control room by improving perception and comprehension. However, they still relied on local knowledge and learned experiences to support projection and anticipation of risks. The study highlights that although data analytics systems are capable of expanding operators’ perception of local elements, they must be complemented by local richer forms of information, needed to anticipate risks and make critical decisions with major impact on local population. Abstract: The Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) paradigm means that “things” in an industrial context are equipped with connectivity. The convergence of formerly isolated Operational Technology with IT provides disruptive opportunities for organizations but is also vulnerable to cyberattacks. To mitigate these risks, the IEC62443 standard was developed, which will be mandatory for critical infrastructure organizations due to the EU Cybersecurity Act. This standard demands various requirements for the technology and organizational aspects of organizations. To implement the standard’s technical requirements and demonstrate compliance, applications can be used. This paper utilizes Design Science Research (DSR) to design, develop, and demonstrate Security Iiot pRocEss Notation (SIREN), an approach based on Business Process Model and Notation (BPMN) to model and monitor processes and compliance. Previous research have yet to cover the IIoT explicitly and lack the monitoring of the modeled attributes. Therefore, a novel specialized approach is presented, enhancing the model with monitorable attributes based on the standard. Thus, this paper presents a BPMN-based approach to model and monitor security-aware processes in IIoT. Collapse

Abstract: In this study, we investigate whether and to what extent community managers in online collaborative communities can stimulate community activities through their engagement. Using a novel data set of 22 large online idea crowdsourcing campaigns, we find that moderate but steady manager activities are adequate to enhance community participation. Moreover, we show that appreciation, motivation, and intellectual stimulation by community managers are positively associated with community participation but that the effectiveness of these communication strategies depends on the form of participation managers wish to encourage. Finally, the data reveal that community manager activities requiring more effort, such as media file uploads vs. simple written comments, have a stronger effect on community participation. Collapse

Abstract: IS resumption describes ex-users returning to an information system (IS) after quitting it beforehand. IS research has conceptualized, operationalized, and defined this behavior and explained some initial causes for ex-users' IS resumption, such as nonuse-related dissatisfaction. We aim to complement that understanding by discussing the influence of three theoretical perspectives: reasoned action, experiential responses, and habitual responses. We use those perspectives to develop hypotheses and offer a comprehensive understanding of the causes of IS resumption intention. We chose a quantitative approach to evaluate our research model, conducting an online survey with 190 ex-users of streaming services. Our findings show that subjective norm and attitude influence IS resumption intention, while higher satisfaction with prior usage influences attitude. We contribute to IS research by carving out how the three theoretical perspectives influence ex-users' IS resumption intention, providing a solid theoretical basis for future studies on IS resumption. Abstract: Charity fundraising is becoming increasingly reliant on online platforms such as crowdfunding platforms. However, overwhelmingly, crowdfunding campaigns are not meeting their goals. Therefore, it is imperative to examine how the success of charity fundraising campaigns can be improved. In this paper, we focus on the design of project images on a crowdfunding website, which portray the themes and content of the projects. Employing the stimulus-organism-response (S-O-R) model, we investigate the relationships between image attributes (S) and image emotions (O), and between image emotions (O) and campaign outcomes (R). We developed and trained a deep neural network model to identify the emotions conveyed in the images, and then implemented it to analyze project images from a popular crowdfunding platform. We applied the obtained image emotions together with the objective image attributes and the project outcome metrics to explore from a design perspective, what image attributes evoke image emotions, and how image emotions are related to the success of charity fundraising projects. Our results confirm these relationships and further suggest that the roles of image emotions on the success of crowdfunding campaigns vary with project characteristics such as the project budget and category. In addition, the image emotions of competing projects on the crowdfunding platform were found to reduce the project's performance. In an extended study, we conducted an online randomized controlled experiment by manipulating image attributes to reexamine the causal relationships and verify the mediating roles of positive and negative empathies between image emotions and campaign outcomes. This research contributes to the charity fundraising literature from a novel perspective of emotions in project images. It presents new and unique findings regarding the mediation roles of positive and negative empathies and the limitations of the emotion of sadness in certain types of charity fundraising. In addition, our findings provide useful insights for practitioners seeking to design successful online charity campaigns. Collapse

Abstract: Information technology (IT)-enabled taxi services facilitate people’s lives. However, little is known about how Internet taxi employees are motivated and how motivation relates to their job engagement. Using a mixedmethods design, this research explores intrinsic motivators and the effects of external regulations on intrinsic motivation and job engagement. The qualitative study identified three context-specific intrinsic motivators: stress reduction, self-efficacy, and job autonomy. A follow-up quantitative research revealed the significance of external regulations in determining intrinsic motivation and job engagement. The study contributes to knowl­ edge by emphasizing the role of intrinsic motivators and the significance of both monetary incentives and punishment. Collapse

Abstract: In the field of cybersecurity, antivirus vendors produce malware labels, known as AV labels, to categorize malware samples based on their behavior. Such labels are used by researchers for future analysis. Unfortunately, their inconsistent format and naming cause clutter and reduce trustworthiness because the naming was based on each antivirus vendor's viewpoints. Previous approaches to solving this problem have relied on majority voting, but this method is prone to bias. To address this issue, we introduce a novel scoring system, the Pairwise Consensus Score (PCS), which scores the result by labeling logic instead of the cacophonous labels. Our consensus reaching method then uses PCS and a Genetic Algorithm to find the best label to represent the malware. The entire process clusters and rename malware samples based on the agreement among different antivirus vendors providing more consistent and trustworthy AV labels for malware samples. Collapse
