Abstract: COVID-19 accelerated the digital transformation in education worldwide. Within a short time frame of several weeks, a full digital transformation took place. In the meantime, however, the trend of this rapid digital transformation seems to be reverting and rolling back to face-to-face teaching and traditional teaching methods. In this article, we aim to show that digital teaching approaches cannot be exclusive to online teaching but should be considered important even after returning to face-to-face teaching. In particular, we focus on improving feedback in large-scale educational settings. We observe that providing and receiving appropriate feedback on learning and teaching activities is challenging independent of the specific teaching setting (in-class or online). This is particularly problematic because feedback is essential in the learning processes. To address this, we combine the concepts of learning analytics and gamification to design a lecture game app that can be used (1) to motivate students to participate in formative assessments, (2) to collect learning-related data, and (3) to analyze this data to provide instant feedback. After integrating the lecture game in different settings, we conclude that digital tools can be useful independent of the specific learning setting.Sebastian Hobert is a professor for AI and education at TH Lübeck -University of Applied Sciences. During this research he was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Goettingen. He works in the interdisciplinary field of information systems, computer science, and human-computer interaction. In his research, he mainly focuses on technology-enhanced learning, including chatbot-based digital tutors, learning analytics, and AI-based methods to support teaching and learning. He is particularly interested in conceptualizing, designing, and evaluating software artifacts in innovative fields of research.Florian Berens is a postdoctoral researcher at the Hector Research Institute of Education Sciences and Psychology at the University of Tuebingen. During this research he was a PhD-candidate at the Center of Methods in the Social Sciences at the University of Goettingen. The core of his research is the measurement of attitudes and beliefs in statistics education and, in particular, the investigation of their consequences for learning. For this purpose, he uses multiple methodological approaches, but especially learning analytics. Technology-enhanced learning becomes both a teaching and research interest, in which he focuses on software design and students' usage behavior. Collapse

Abstract: The public av ailability of sophisticated AI content generators based on large -scale language models achiev ed enormous media attention in recent months. AI content generators are expected to have a major impact on future information sy stems developments as well as priv ate and business life. Particularly in the field of education, the question arises as to how these innovations in AI technology will impact teaching, learning, and ex amination. With a specific focus on examinations in the information systems di scipline, we show in this research-in-progress paper, based on an ex perimental field study, how a today's AI content generator performs in solv ing a fundamental information systems exam. Based on our preliminary results, we found that the quality v aries ac ross different exam question ty pes. Abstract: Grand visions for organizational transformation increasingly build on fashionable information technologies. Organizational leaders may be tempted to adopt these visions due the high degree of legitimacy and mobilization they afford. However, their fashionable nature makes adoption risky. In this paper, we explore how organizations can manage this risk and successfully navigate the adoption of fashionable organizing visions. Specifically, we track how over the last five years the European Blockchain Partnership adopted a self-sovereign identity organizing vision based on blockchain. We find that successful adoption requires dynamic coupling and decoupling between vision and ITboth on a discursive and the material levels. Moreover, it requires effective management of 'sensegiving' and 'sensebreaking' by the innovation community. Collapse

Abstract: We study how user feedback affects innovation of multihomed applications within and across platform ecosystems. Therefore, we conduct a quantitative NLP based case study. Our sample consists of 10 multihomed applications with more than 325,000 user reviews on Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android platform between January and March 2021. We analyze how user reviews translate into functional feature releases of the selected applications within and across platforms. We report three findings. First, we find that about 61% of the functional feature improvements on both platforms were previously demanded by users in the form of user feedback. Second, we show that user feedback of iOS users is more likely to be incorporated compared to Android users’ feedback. Finally, we observe that about 10% of feature releases are inspired by cross-platform feedback, providing initial evidence that user feedback from multihoming applications might stimulate cross-platform innovation and enhance the applications’ quality and innovativeness. Abstract: Cyber-security, which plays a key role in all areas of the digital world, from the power grid to healthcare, is mainly addressed from an analytical, engineering perspective. This research looks at social factors impacting real-life cyber-security, and their possible effects, such as resilience and emergence. Semistructured interviews were conducted with 20 participants from a broad range of international organisations. Their analysis shows that social factors are indeed relevant to cyber-security. Tension within social structures in organisations (e.g., employee-supervisor relationship, and peer pressure within teams) can significantly impact cyber-security effectiveness. The study concludes that cyber-security should be addressed through social-technical system design, in recognition of the fundamental interdependence of social and technical aspects. As a corollary, organisational cyber-security needs to be treated as a so-called wicked problem, for which a reductionist engineering approach is futile. The complexity and ambiguity of cyber-security's socio-technical challenges calls for adequate principles, ways of thinking and methods. Collapse

Abstract: Regarding malicious (intentional) insider threats, the damage potential is particularly high. There are many suggestions for prevention and defense, but there is a lack of reliable knowledge about which measures actually are effective in regard to this kind of attacks. Using the serious game "Operation Digital Butterfly", 40 roles and attack scenarios as well as possible countermeasures were collected in 10 game sessions with participants from research institutions, companies and public authorities. Abstract: Is artificial intelligence going to revolutionize the manufacturing process? Will blockchain change the process of trade finance? Answers to those questions are researched and tested in Digital Innovation Labs (DILs). Particularly within the past few years, those labs became a tool for companies to handle disruption and digital innovation. However, success was mixed. Some DILs failed to reach their targets whereas others provided the pathway toward digital transformation. Therefore, this study examines the evolution of DILs and shows how Organizational Learning advances innovation. In a unique study design, this paper uses the case study approach to look at two developmental stages of one particular DIL. Over time, the DIL has changed fundamentally and established a funnel approach where the lab structure supports the entire innovation process. Based on our study we derive eight recommendations that may contribute to the success of DILs in companies. Collapse

Abstract: This study represents ongoing research to investigate the impact of self-avatar beautification on consumers' willingness to pay for products virtually tried on with a beautified avatar. Avatars are the primary means of representing users in the rapidly growing market for commercial metaverse applications, such as apparel and accessories try-on. Based on self-congruity theory and appraisal theory, we argue that beautified self-avatars are congruent with users' ideal selves and elicit identification and positive emotions, resulting in increased willingness to pay. We present preliminary findings that support the notion that beautified avatars promote the ideal self and result in greater willingness to pay than realistic avatars. With these findings we contribute to research on avatar design and commerce in metaverses, by challenging the recognised notion that self-avatars should be as realistic as possible and establishing avatar beautification as a novel design objective in metaverse marketing. Abstract: Research on sustainable entrepreneurship increasingly recognizes the transformative potential of digital tech­ nologies to mitigate and counteract grand environmental and social challenges through entrepreneurial action. However, this emerging field of research, referred to as digital sustainable entrepreneurship, is currently dispersed and fragmented and lacks the consolidated foundation to progress further. This article further estab­ lishes this nascent stream by conducting a systematic literature review offering two main contributions. First, common themes are derived from the literature (i.e., enabling value for society and environment, stakeholder inclusion, venture viability, and entrepreneurial individuals) to unravel the field’s current state. Second, previous work is discussed and integrated by applying a business model perspective. Specifically, the article offers a framework that contributes to the role of business models for merging sustainability and digital technologies, reconceptualizes digital technologies as business model actors, and further develops the entrepreneur-business model nexus. Based on this, we present a comprehensive and actionable research agenda and practical implications. Collapse

Abstract: Organisational employees increasingly rely on various social media to develop guanxi online, resulting in the potentially huge value of identifying how social media can contribute to guanxi development in the workplace. In this study of digital guanxi development within Chinese organisations, we examine the role of different types of social media on the development of guanxi and its various dimensions. Based on an exploratory case study, we propose a theoretical framework that illustrates two mechanisms by which social media influence the development of digital guanxi at work. Our preliminary findings suggest that enterprise social media and public social media provide and reinforce instrumental and affective values, respectively, thereby facilitating guanxi development in the workplace.
