Abstract: Designing theory-driven social recommender systems (SRSs) has been a significant research challenge for over a decade. This study aims to identify behavioural factors that could improve the persuasiveness and quality of recommendations made by SRSs. Given both research streams’ striking similarity, it uses the recent yet rich research on social media influencers (SMI) to inform SRS research. Drawing on 72 publications, we classified 52 independent variables into 12 categories regrouped into three broad categories that characterise the relationships between the consumer and the (i) recommender system, (ii) product or brand, and (iii) and advert. The metanalysis results determined the relative importance of each category in predicting purchase intentions, placing recommender credibility and attitude towards the recommended product or brand at the top of the charts. Our findings are expected to facilitate more refined theory-building efforts and theory-driven designs in SRS research and practice. Collapse

Abstract: The quest to open black box artificial intelligence (AI) systems evolved into an emerging phenomenon of global interest for academia, business, and society and brought about the rise of the research field of explainable artificial intelligence (XAI). With its pluralistic view, information systems (IS) research is predestined to contribute to this emerging field; thus, it is not surprising that the number of publications on XAI has been rising significantly in IS research. This paper aims to provide a comprehensive overview of XAI research in IS in general and electronic markets in particular using a structured literature review. Based on a literature search resulting in 180 research papers, this work provides an overview of the most receptive outlets, the development of the academic discussion, and the most relevant underlying concepts and methodologies. Furthermore, eight research areas with varying maturity in electronic markets are carved out. Finally, directions for a research agenda of XAI in IS are presented. Collapse

Abstract: The internet and social media are constantly evolving and providing innovations for communication. Persuasive communication, like advertisements, can be adapted to peoples' personal preferences and desires based on tracked data. Emotions have been found to play an important role within persuasion. Based on theoretical assumptions of framing and affective priming, we hypothesize different effects of positive and negative messages and mood within social media advertising. To investigate the reception of ads regarding their persuasiveness in sustainability campaigns we conducted an online experiment using a 2x2 between design (N=147) measuring ad evaluation and behavioral intention. Our findings revealed that wording can be an influential factor in persuasive messages towards more sustainability. Positive framing led to a better ad evaluation than negative wording. However, behavioral intention was not affected and there was no enhancing effect of recipients' environmental awareness. Collapse

Abstract: The use of mobile payment (m-payment) is growing exponentially in developing countries. A small number of investigations have been undertaken on what makes people continue to use m-payment in an African context. We combine the task technology fit (TTF) model, expectation-confirmation model (ECM), and trust dimension to explain the influence of continuance use of m-payment. We collected 384 valid questionnaire responses from Mozambique. The results show that the relevant constructs to explain continuance intention are use, individual performance, overall trust, and the moderation role of satisfaction. Collapse

Abstract: Frequent and habitual engagement with social media can reinforce certain activities such as sharing, clicking hyperlinks, and liking, which may be performed with insufficient cognition. In this study, we aimed to examine the associations between personality traits, habits, and information processing to identify social media users who are susceptible to phishing attacks. Our experimental data consisted of 215 social media users. The results revealed two important findings. First, users who scored high on the personality traits of extraversion, agree ableness, and neuroticism were more likely to engage in habitual behaviors that increase their susceptibility to phishing attacks, whereas those who scored high on conscientiousness were less likely. Second, users who habitually react to social media posts were more likely to apply heuristic processing, making them more sus ceptible to phishing attacks than those who applied systematic processing. A theoretical framework is proposed to examine potential factors that influences young adults' decision to migrate their use of social media. Abstract: Disasters bring uncertainties and substantial health, economic, social, and psychological challenges. Effective management of disasters requires thorough understanding of their causes, nature, and consequences. Affected individuals may, therefore, seek instant, trustworthy information from different sources including social networking sites (SNSs). This study investigates what leads individuals to seek disaster information on SNSs. The investigated potential drivers are source credibility (SC), argument quality (AQ), self-efficacy (SEF), perceived usefulness of information (OUI), and behavioral intention (INT). The results confirm the newly emerged source & argument quality (SAQ) construct, SEF, and PUI are significant antecedents of INT, which in turn influences disaster information seeking behavior (ISB) via SNSs. Abstract: The theory of planned behavior (TPB) is popular in social commerce research, but existing studies have yielded inconclusive and inconsistent findings. As TPB was developed before the introduction of the Internet, Web 2.0 technologies, and social media, it is time to evaluate whether its relevance, effectiveness, novelty, and parsimony may have deteriorated due to temporal factors and the emergence of new Information Systems (IS) artifacts. In this work, an extended TPB2 is proposed by integrating social support, and MASEM analysis was conducted using a pooled correlation matrix. The findings revealed that TPB2 can better capture the nature of social commerce, as it can explain 28.4% of the variance in attitude, 59.0% of the variance in behavioral intention, and 9% of the variance in use behavior. In addition, it indicates that masculinity and uncertainty avoidance are the most significant Hofstedian cultural dimensions. The theoretical and managerial implications are also discussed along with the research agenda. Collapse
