Abstract: AI-based technologies have changed the nature of the symbiosis between humans and AI, and so strategic management of human-AI interaction in organizations requires deeper ethical consid­ erations. Aligning AI with human values requires a systematic understanding of the ethical management of human-AI interaction. We conduct a theoretical review, from a sociotechnical perspective, and analyze ethical management of human-AI interaction through the lens of soci­ omateriality. Our systematic approach helps explain and clarify the interdependencies between two ethical perspectives – duty and virtue ethics – in sociotechnical systems. We also provide a theoretical framework that leads to seven avenues for future research. Collapse

Abstract: Smart services offer great innovation potential by incorporating digital technologies into non-digital value-creation processes. As smart service innovation poses significant challenges to organizations, existing research has contributed to understanding and addressing this phenomenon by developing various methods, tools, and processes. Yet, the academic community often still fails to bridge the "last mile" and help practitioners apply this knowledge in their specific application contexts. This article outlines how research can empower practitioners by systematically providing methodological knowledge for smart service innovation. We review and contrast existing methodologies and present a conceptual framework for value co-creation through smart service innovation methodologies. In addition, we identify six essential resource types required in these methodologies and propose emergent research avenues to guide future contributions to smart service innovation research. Abstract: Data-driven predictions have become an inseparable part of business decisions. Artificial Intelligence (AI) has started helping the product and support teams perform more accurate experiments in various business settings. This study proposes a framework for businesses based on inductive learnings related to success and barriers shared on social media platforms. Our goal is to analyse the signals emerging from these conversational opinions from the early adoption of AI, with a focus towards facilitators and barriers faced by teams. Factors like efficiency, innovation, business research, product novelty, manual intervention, adaptability, emotion, support, personal growth, experiential learning, fear of failure and fear of upgradation have been identified based on an exploratory study and then a confirmatory study. We present the learnings through a roadmap for practitioners. This study contributes to the IS literature by delineating AI as a determinant of success and introduces a lot of organizational factors into the model. Collapse

Abstract: The current paper aims to investigate the role of gender in the adoption and use of ICT for an active and healthy ageing in the context of diverse socioeconomic considerations. The investigation has been conducted among seniors in Poland and Sweden, countries experiencing significant socioeconomic differences. The adopted research approach is based on Value-Focused Thinking (VFT). The preliminary findings suggest that the most significant gender-related differences in the perception of values refer to minimizing loneliness and maximizing ICT solution alignment with seniors' needs. The proposed avenues for future research include an investigation into the role of technology ambassadors played by women. Collapse

Abstract: Password manager applications have the potential to alleviate password pain and improve password strength, yet they are not widely adopted. Password managers are dissimilar to other kinds of software tools, given that the leakage of the credentials they store could give a hacker access to all the individual's online accounts. Moreover, adoption requires a deliberate switch away from an existing (manual) password management routine. As such, traditional technology adoption models are unlikely to model password manager adoption accurately. In this paper, we propose and explain how we validated a theoretical model of smartphone password manager adoption. We commenced by carrying out exploratory interviews with 30 smartphone owners to identify factors that influence adoption. These were used to develop a model that reflects the password manager adoption process, building on migration theory. The proposed model, MIGRANT (MIGRation pAssword maNager adopTion), was validated and subsequently refined in a week-long study with 198 smartphone owners, combining self-report and observation to measure constructs. This study contributes to the information security behavioral literature by isolating the main factors that encourage or deter password manager adoption, and those that moor smartphone owners in their current practices, hindering switching. With this investigation, we introduce migration theory as a reference theory for future studies in the information security behavioral field. Collapse

Abstract: Although distributed ledger technology (DLT) systems seem to address conventional regulatory governance concerns, they also present systemic risks. This paper aims to address the risks of decentrally governed DLT systems. It achieves this by identifying regulatory controls that address the altered governance dynamics of decentralized systems. To address the research gap in DLT regulation, we co-designed regulatory control treatments with Australian regulatory DLT experts using a participatory action design research approach. This paper provides a theory-ingrained, practitioner-vetted framework to inform regulators, regulated entities and researchers of appropriate control responses to systemic and participant risks presented by decentrally governed DLT systems. Abstract: The conversion funnel is a model describing the stages consumers go through in their journey toward a purchase. This journey often lasts several days to weeks and can include multiple visits to a seller’s website. A large body of literature has focused on using observable search patterns to identify consumers’ hidden purchasing stages and to estimate their likelihood of conversion. We propose a novel set of measures to better reveal the consumer’s hidden stage in the funnel. These measures are based on the diversity of the searches that a customer engages in while browsing an e-commerce website, and they include not only the number of different products that are searched for, but also measures that rely on unobserved similarities among products, captured in a product network (in which products are assumed to be “similar” if they are frequently co-searched). We operationalize and evaluate our proposed measures using a large-scale dataset from a medium-sized tourism website used for comparing and booking flights. We estimate a hidden Markov model to show that our proposed diversity measures are associated with progress in the funnel and consumers’ conversion likelihood. Specifically, we show that consumers go through different distinguishable stages (states) in their journey, characterized by different values of our proposed diversity measures. To demonstrate the managerial and business implications of our theory, we show that incorporating search-diversity measures into a baseline prediction model significantly improves the model’s performance in predicting purchase likelihood and churn. Abstract: This paper discusses the need of IS capabilities when introducing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) from a suppliers' perspective. This perspective is vital because of the lack of research and because suppliers of technology have extensive experience and influence during a customer's adoption of RPA. RPA adoption requires developing a relationship consisting of internal and external actors with potential mutual benefits that will be further explored in this paper. For analysis, we revisit an existing framework by Feeny-Willcocks focused on critical core IS capabilities for exploiting new technologies. Therefore, the discussions presented in this paper will complement existing internal perspectives on the adoption of RPA. Our conclusions point towards the benefits of applying the suggested framework in an RPA context. The framework enables a systemic overview of essential organizational capabilities, relationships and dimensions when successfully exploiting RPA. The framework also assists in clarifying which capabilities are crucial and reveals necessary dependencies between them. Collapse
