Abstract: Grounded theory method (GTM) has become popular in the information systems (IS) field despite multiple interpretations and disputes about its use and usefulness. This paper analyzes how IS researchers collaborate during the GTM process and how they report on the research process. We analyze a sample of papers from the AIS Senior Scholars’ basket of eight that use GTM as their research method to understand how researchers report collaboration in GTM research. We then draw from the previous literature and our own GTM research experiences to illustrate different alternatives of performing collaboration in GTM tasks and their pros and cons in order to help other GTM researchers. We highlight potential issues that arise from different epistemological and ontological stances and provide guidance and examples of how to avoid these issues and how to document the research process. Abstract: We are currently dealing with the challenges of a digital economy as well as a digital transformation. Furthermore, digital technologies are reshaping traditional business strategy and also transforming the structure of social relationships for both the consumer and the enterprise. However, we still do not have an in-depth discussion on what skills and abilities are required for the emerging digital economy that can help organizations to cope with these new challenges. So, the objective of the research is to propose a model with digital capabilities as a driver related to digital business performance, particularly in ecommerce and e-business. Our research is expected to make several contributions, bringing some initial results from the qualitative part of the study and presenting a model which will be empirically tested in the near future. The practical value of this research rests on demonstrating the impact of digital capabilities on digital business model performance. Collapse

Abstract: Organizational transformations reliant on successful ICT system developments (continue to) fail to deliver projected benefits even when contemporary governance models are applied rigorously. Modifications to traditional program, project and systems development management methods have produced little material improvement to successful transformation as they are unable to routinely address the complexity and uncertainty of dynamic alignment of IS investments and innovation. Abstract: It is often claimed that information technology has the potential to transform entire industries. However, we find that very little IS research has been conducted at the industry level. Moreover, the small amount of research that has been conducted on IT and industries has been based largely on just one perspective of industries. Given the scale and potential impact of the changes that are happening at an industry level, we believe a concerted effort is needed to study this phenomenon. We propose a research agenda for studying IT and industries. We suggest three research perspectives for studying IT and industries: an economic perspective, an institutional perspective, and a socio-cultural perspective. Just as IS research that addresses these aspects at the organizational level has grown in recent years and contributed to our understanding of IS, so in this paper we argue that a similar broadening, as well as more studies, are needed at the industry level of analysis. We provide an example from the real estate industry to illustrate the usefulness of the three research perspectives. Collapse
