Abstract: The supply of global information technology (IT) workers does not meet the demand of the industry. Therefore, researchers try to distill ways to increase and retain the IT talent pipeline. Ensuring that IT professionals remain in their IT careers is an essential element of such research. The influence of technostress on job turnover is evident. Yet, we know little about the impact of technostress on career turnaway and its interaction effects on the antecedents of turnaway intention. While job turnover may negatively impact a specific organization, career turnaway has negative implications for the industry. Losing IT professionals from the field means that additional efforts toward motivating, recruiting, educating, and preparing replacement talent are needed. By examining the dynamics of technostress on IT professionals' career turnaway intention (N=512), we reveal two critical findings. First, technostress reduces the IT professional's commitment to their IT career and increases exhaustion from their IT career experience. Second, technostress moderates IT professionals' commitment to their profession and career turnaway intentions. To remedy these concerns, we provide managerial advice and provide suggestions for future research. Collapse

Abstract: A growing body of research documents that audiences reward organizations perceived to be authentic with positive evaluations. In the current work, we adopt a mixed-methods approach—using data collected from Glassdoor.com and two experiments—to establish that perceptions of authenticity are elicited by perceived congruence between an organization’s stated values (i.e., the values it claims to hold) and its lived values (i.e., values members perceive as embodied by the organization), which in turn lead to more positive organizational evaluations. We then explore the conditions under which audiences are less likely to respond favorably to organizational authenticity, finding that the positive effects of stated-lived value congruence on evaluations are attenuated when audiences have a lower preference for stated values. Abstract: The burgeoning adoption of digital technologies has allowed contemporary business organizations to endure groundbreaking transformations. As a result, academics have made considerable effort to infuse clarity and better understand the notion of digital transformation. Nonetheless, there is a paucity of a consolidated custom of digital transformation research and an overarching framework endorsed by theoretical foundations in extant literature. This study provides a state-of-art synthesis of the extant literature by systematically reviewing 183 peer-reviewed journal articles published in over thirty leading academic outlets and a comprehensive nomological net of digital transformation by paying close attention to salient theoretical foundations apparent in the extant literature, which will be useful for prospective academic studies. Abstract: Partial least squares (PLS) path modeling is a widely used method in the information systems (IS) discipline for estimating linear structural equation models. At the same time, researchers have debated its relative merits compared to simple summed scores or to covariance-based estimation of structural equation models. In this paper, we comment on recent developments in PLS to ensure that IS researchers have up-to-date methodological knowledge and best practices if they decide to use PLS. In particular, we briefly review its mechanisms, its well-known properties, and its usage history in IS research. We briefly revisit a high-impact critique and debate a few years ago to identify the critical arguments around current PLS practices and use. That critique proved to be the driver for many advances in the PLS method and its applications which we discuss extensively and use to make 14 recommendations for how and when to use PLS or alternatives.Simply put, most IS researchers do not study research questions where predictive modeling would be applicable but focus on testing theory that requires explanatory models. If predictive modeling pertains to their study, researchers should clearly explain the predictions' purpose and usefulness and use operative prediction (i.e., mixed formative-reflective) to assess their models' out-of-sample prediction at the individual level as Shmueli et al. (2016) and Evermann and Tate (2016) recommend. Abstract: This research aims to investigate the impact of social media marketing activities (SMMa) on brand loyalty directly and through mediating variables community engagement and lovemark. To propose a research model, we used the theories including lovemark theory, engagement theory and brand equity theory. As a result, this research investigates the impact of SMMa, community engagement, and lovemark on brand loyalty. Using an online survey, we collected data from 464 female participants who are following luxury fashion brands on major social networking sites including Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, and Twitter. Results using PLS revealed that SMMa positively influences community engagement and lovemark. Moreover, we find positive relationships between community engagement, lovemark and brand loyalty. However, we find that SMMa has no direct influence on brand loyalty. Collapse

Abstract: The recent pandemic and resultant increase in clinical caseload have brought dialogue-based agents (DBAs) to the forefront of attention in the healthcare industry. The ability of these agents to accomplish a variety of sequential and related tasks within a single application software has made them more effortful and complex. While effort requirements and complexity of information systems are generally considered negative attributes, the potential effect of user effort investment on user perceptions and decisions is less investigated. Within the framework of goal systems theory, this study explores how perceived effort could be appropriated to enhance users’ positive perceptions and willingness to accept healthcare DBAs outputs. We find evidence for the positive role both in the perceived effort before and after the actual use of healthcare DBAs as well as in user goal magnitude and means-goal configuration on perceptions of usefulness and probability of considering outputs. Abstract: Literature has shown that business-information technology (IT) alignment can exert both positive and negative influences on organizational agility, giving rise to the IT alignment-agility paradox. To better understand this paradox at a more granular level, we conceptualize the sensing and responding dimensions of organizational agility as two independent constructs and suggest a nonlinear analytical approach. Based on configurational and contextual perspectives, this study investigates how intellectual and social alignment and organizational and environmental elements combine into multiple configurations to affect sensing and responding capabilities. Fuzzy-set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) is used to analyze the survey data from 135 dyads of business and IT executives from the Chinese shipbuilding industry. Results show that different equifinal pathways can be used to achieve high sensing and responding capabilities, in which intellectual and social alignment play heterogeneous roles depending on the specific contexts. This study extends the ITenabled agility literature by deepening our understanding of the effects of multidimensional IT alignment on multidimensional organizational agility and providing new insights into the IT alignment-agility paradox. Abstract: This review focuses on the growing field of distrubuted work, made even more relevant in light of the current pandemic. Many different definitions, labels, and conceptualizations of distributed work exist, resulting in a fragmented field, threatened by a proliferation of concepts. Prior re­ views addressed a limited scope of phenomena or review approaches; are narrative, subjective, or not systematic, lacking objectivity, comprehensiveness, and reproducibility; or are not recent. Our study advances the current overview of the field by presenting a compendious review of the development and current state of the field. We implemented three bibliometric approaches (i.e., co-citation, co-word and bibliographic coupling) and interpreted the results using the “invisible colleges” framework. This produced an integrative and holistic framework of the field of distributed work, portraying its historic development and theoretical background, conceptual space, and nomological net, guiding future research on this and connected research fields. Abstract: Given the growing pervasiveness of information systems (IS) in everyday life, recent research has acknowledged that IS technologies are often not value free but are instead infused with fundamental personal values. However, little is known about how such values explain why people assimilate these technologies and their affordances. In the intriguing case of Bitcoin, personal values-especially libertarian political values-played an essential role in clarifying the ideological underpinnings of Bitcoin and its early adoption. Consequently, we draw on research on personal values and affordance theory to develop and test a model explicating how these personal values guide individuals toward using IS applications with salient affordances that address their values. Specifically, we hypothesize and test how individuals' personal values (i.e., libertarian political values) influence their attitudes toward Bitcoin affordances and their Bitcoin use behavior using data from a multiple administration survey of 236 users and nonusers of Bitcoin. Our results indicate that libertarian political values affect individuals' attitudes toward Bitcoin affordances, which in turn mediate the effects of these values on actual Bitcoin use. Our findings advance the field by demonstrating the importance of integrating values into the conceptualization of IS technology affordances. Collapse

Abstract: This study investigates how one personality trait of CIOs and CEOs, i.e., their empathy, affects CIO–CEO re­ lationships and then the outcomes of firms’ ongoing digital transformation. We hypothesize that the cognitive and emotional empathy of CIOs and CEOs can establish mutual understanding and trust, which in turn improve digital transformation. We empirically validate these hypotheses based on a survey of 105 pairs of matched CIOs and CEOs. The findings reveal asymmetric effects: CIOs’ empathy improves CIO–CEO relationships and then digital transformation, but CEOs’ empathy does not show significant effects. We then discuss our findings and implications to theory and practice. Collapse
