Abstract: During the Covid-19 pandemic, the shift to high-intensity remote work—three days or more a week—accelerated the digitalization of work processes on platforms such as Slack or Teams and the blurring of boundaries between work and personal life through videoconferencing and the use of personal devices for work. This paper explores the relationships between high-intensity remote workers’ information and communication technologies (ICT) privacy concerns, psychological climate for face time, and organizational affective commitment. Building on organizational support and social information processing theories, we argue that ICT privacy concerns and perceptions that an organization values physical presence in-office may undermine commitment to the organization. Based on a two-wave study of 1065 remote workers in a large multinational bank, we find that ICT privacy concerns and psychological climate for face time reinforce one another and are negatively associated with subsequent affective organizational commitment. Abstract: This study extends our understanding of what makes an online review useful by examining the effects of review quality (i.e., as a composite variable of review comprehensiveness and review topic consistency) on review usefulness, and the moderating effects of source credibility on the relationship between review quality and review usefulness. The Elaboration Likelihood Model, convergence theory, and cueing effect literature are used to define the variables of review comprehensiveness and review topic consistency. Analyses of 27,517 restaurant reviews from Yelp show that review topic consistency has a positive effect on review usefulness, but, contrary to our hypothesis, review comprehensiveness has a negative effect on review usefulness. We also found source credibility positively moderates the effect of review comprehensiveness on review usefulness, but negatively moderates the effect of review topic consistency on review usefulness. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed. Collapse

Abstract: Sustainable business success is essential for achieving performance in a market in the contemporary technology age. Worldwide, businesses should overcome a number of challenges by using an innovative practices and technologies to achieve long-term business sustainability. This study intended to inspect the relationship between knowledge management systems (KMS) and sustainable business, and to examine the moderating role of artificial intelligence (AI) adoption in the relationship. To achieve this objective, we collect data from Iraqi firms. Using structural equation modelling, the finding of this study show that knowledge management systems significantly increased sustainable business. In addition, AI adoption moderates the relationship between KMS and sustainable business. Hence, this research makes significant implications to literature and policymakers regarding applying and understanding knowledge management systems and AI adoption to enhance sustainable business. Abstract: Many organizations have on-premises data storage systems that are evolving; among them is Big Data (BD). BD is a data storage system that can analyze large volumes, with velocity, and a variety of data. Per the Economist, data is now the most valuable resource. BD holds the promise of unlocking substantial parts. Many organizations want to implement BD but have not been able to. There is a need to identify key factors affecting adoptions for such organizations. The following factors are identified as (novel): data storage latency, ability to compute, data storage interface compatibilities, open-source software, and enterprisesourced software, or (under-studied): cost, perceived industry pressure, legislation barriers, and market turbulence. These factors were studied empirically with DOI and TOE by conducting a survey and performing quantitative PLS-SEM analysis. This analysis showed that these adoption factors are significant: data storage interface compatibility, open-source, enterprise-source software, cost, industry pressure, and market turbulence. Abstract: To cope with the digital transition exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic, managers of manufacturing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) need to adopt innovative practices to face uncertain scenarios and create longterm value, identified as transformational entrepreneurship practices. Among emerging digital technologies, digital platforms are shaping and outgrowing the e-commerce channel representing a potential opportunity for manufacturing SMEs to embrace digital transformation. Drawing on affordance theory, this research uses a mixed method approach to investigate how manufacturing SMEs’ e-commerce commitment and digital platform adoption stimulate the actualization of three e-commerce affordances: consumer knowledge generation, inter­ nationalization, and customer diversification. Based on survey responses from 165 manufacturing SME man­ agers, we find that direct selling through owned websites actualizes consumer knowledge generation and internationalization, indirect selling actualizes customer diversification and internationalization, and agency selling through third-party platforms actualizes all three affordances. The relationship between e-commerce commitment and ecommerce performance is mediated by consumer knowledge generation and internationali­ zation but not by customer diversification. A fsQCA analysis outlines seven configurations actualizing these ecommerce affordances by pairing different ecommerce approaches with degrees of e-commerce commitment. Finally, an analysis of open-ended questions from 24 respondents complements the study and deeply interprets the seven unique configurations outlined. Collapse

Abstract: Managing a contagious disease pandemic, such as , requires that the public understand and cooperate with behavioral guidelines to reduce viral transmission. This research uses Signal Detection Theory (SDT) to explore how U.S. adults distinguish between true and false information related to COVID-19 vaccines. A total of 372 U.S. adults categorized 17 true and 17 false COVID-19 vaccine headlines. Item Response Theory analyses suggest that the ability to identify true information about the pandemic is a construct that can be reliably measured with our novel methodology. Signal Detection Theory analyses indicate high accuracy (AUC = 0.861), with no bias favoring either true or false responses. Overall, U.S. adults correctly classified 7 of 10 true and 8 of 10 false headlines. Multiple regression analyses on individual performance metrics reveal substantially lower accuracy among conservatives and those with lower scores on a measure of Actively Open-minded Thinking. Implications and limitations of these findings within the pandemic news context are discussed. Collapse

Abstract: Social media live streams (SMLSs) are becoming mainstream e-commerce platforms, especially for direct selling, offering online retailers (e-tailers) immense consumer interaction and engagement levels. Despite their growing prevalence, e-tailers face difficulties capitalising on this platform to enhance retail operations. This paper ex­ plores how SMLSs affect consumers’ purchase intentions by exploring their motivations for participating in ecommerce SMLSs. To this end, we used the uses and gratifications (U&G) theory to explain how using SMLSs to satisfy consumers’ needs could lead to high or low purchase intentions. It was done by collecting cross-sectional data from 795 consumers who have participated in e-commerce SMLSs. The data were analysed using partial least squares-structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) and fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). Our findings revealed that people use SMLSs to satisfy their need for value, social identification, and the me­ dium’s attributes. Based on these findings, we show six configurations that lead to high or low purchase in­ tentions and make corresponding theoretical propositions. Thus, our study contributes to the research and practice of using SMLSs for online shopping. Collapse

Abstract: Significant investments in information systems (IS) over the past decades have led to increasingly complex IS architectures in organisations, which are difficult to understand, operate, and maintain. We investigate this development and associated challenges through a conceptual model that distinguishes four constituent elements of IS architecture complexity by differentiating technological from organisational aspects and structural from dynamic aspects. Building on this conceptualisation, we hypothesise relations between these four IS architecture complexity constructs and investigate their impact on architectural outcomes (i.e., efficiency, flexibility, transparency, and predictability). Using survey data from 249 IS managers, we test our model through a partial least squares (PLS) approach to structural equation modelling (SEM). We find that organisational complexity drives technological complexity and that structural complexity drives dynamic complexity. We also demonstrate that increasing IS architecture complexity has a significant negative impact on efficiency, flexibility, transparency, and predictability. Finally, we show that enterprise architecture management (EAM) helps to offset these negative effects by acting as a moderator in the relation between organisational and technological IS architecture complexity. Thus, organisations without adequate EAM are likely to face large increases in technological complexity due to increasing organisational complexity, whereas organisations with adequate EAM exhibit no such relation. Abstract: This study investigates the effect of individuals' information processing modes on phishing email detection mechanisms and accuracy. Drawing on the heuristic-systematic model of processing, mindful decision-making, and affect-and-persuasion literature, this study examines the antecedents (i.e., heuristic, systematic processing, general and domain mindfulness, and affective state) and behavioral consequences (i.e., detection accuracy) in phishing identification. Using a scenario-based survey experiment this study shows mindfulness and affectivity navigate information processing mechanisms, thus influence phishing detection accuracy. It aims to contribute to information security literature by examining novel associations between general, domain mindfulness and its effect on online users' information processing strategy and phishing detection accuracy. Furthermore, this study contributes to phishing training and awareness by identifying the function of cognitive-affective (affective states, trait mindfulness) and cognitive-behavioral (domain mindfulness) factors on the choice of information processing modes and phishing detection accuracy. Abstract: We study the connection between communication network structure and an organization’s collective adaptability to a shifting environment. Research has shown that network centralization—the degree to which communication flows disproportionately through one or more members of the organization rather than being more equally distributed—interferes with collective problem-solving by obstructing the integration of existing ideas, information, and solutions in the network. We hypothesize that the mechanisms responsible for that poor integration of ideas, information, and solutions would nevertheless prove beneficial for problems requiring adaptation to a shifting environment. We conducted a 1,620-subject randomized online laboratory experiment, testing the effect of seven network structures on problem-solving success. To simulate a shifting environment, we designed a murder mystery task and manipulated when each piece of information could be found: early information encouraged an inferior consensus, requiring a collective shift of solution after more information emerged. We find that when the communication network within an organization is more centralized, it achieves the benefits of connectivity (spread of novel better solutions) without the costs (getting stuck on an existing inferior solution). We also find, however, that these benefits of centralization only materialize in networks with two-way flow of information and not when information only flows from the center of the network outward (as can occur in hierarchical structures or digitally mediated communication).
