Effectiveness of Health Communication Technology on Compliance Disposition of Covid-19 Guidelines

Abstract: Recent research has mostly examined the role of health communication technology (HCT) in patient empowerment and in producing patient-focused outcomes. This study examines HCT in a larger context where it is used as a tool to improve public health. The objective is to examine how HCT is used to monitor Covid-19's spread, and how social factors affect individual assessment of HCT and individual compliance disposition of Covid-19 guidelines. Analyzing data collected from 360 HCT users suggests that the information and system quality of HCT indeed impact users' assessment of its effectiveness and their compliance disposition. However, such effects are strongly mediated by social factors: Peer influence and government trust can sway an individual's cognitive judgments of Covid-19 regardless of HCT's impacts. The findings highlight the importance of social factors in pandemic management and the need to socialize health informatics to make them more effective. Collapse

Abstract: With the rising popularity of voice assistants like Alexa, Siri, etc., understanding the service gaps experienced by customers has become imperative. In unison, limited studies are focusing on the perspectives of dissatisfied customers. This research aims to address this gap by suggesting the antecedents of technology irritation and its impact on the overall performance of voice assistants. The study uses a mixed-methods approach by analyzing the data gathered from user interviews, online reviews from users, and also empirical surveys. The qualitative study, capturing both etic and emic perspectives, found problems related to responsiveness, usability, platform, connectivity, and compatibility of VAs. While the empirical study revealed that utility gratification and service quality have a significant impact on technology irritation. The findings also show that customers from negative high and low arousal emotion groups have varying perceptions about utility gratifications. Collapse

Abstract: Despite the monetary incentives and the meaningful use mandate to implement electronic health record (EHR) systems in the workplace, users still feel threatened due to the mixed outcomes of using EHR systems. This current study examines success outcomes that enhance users' EHR adoption in an organizational setting through the lens of information systems success model. A theoretical framework is proposed to understand what EHR implementation success means to healthcare professionals, and what systems and user characteristics contribute to EHR implementation success. The proposed model suggests that user capability, EHR usability, and EHR usefulness will affect EHR success outcomes (perceived satisfaction with usage and perceived helpfulness over usage process). The study considers the interaction between technology and user capabilities to impact IS success outcomes and discusses some implications to theory and management. Abstract: A sustainable digital future of education is at its high call and various digital tools are being used to establish digital learning -but limited attention is paid to quality and virtual competence for the success of Digital Learning System (DLs). This study addresses the gap and outlines satisfaction as a function of quality factors (perceived knowledge quality and interactive quality) and virtual competence that subsequently determines net benefits (perceived learning). DLs success model is proposed by mapping into sequential building blocks of DeLone and McLean IS success model and integrating social cognitive theory. Quantitative online survey data from 156 German and Swedish students confirm that perceived knowledge quality, sociability-based interactive quality, and virtual competence play an important role towards students' satisfaction and perceived learning. The salient highlighted factors provide a novel contribution deemed indispensable for DLs success. The findings suggest future research avenues for theory and practice. Collapse

Abstract: Research investigating the acceptance of information systems mostly focuses on systems designed for long-term use, rather than one-time or short-term use. However, short-term use systems are part of the health information technology portfolio. We propose a theoretical model inspired by the D&M IS Success Model to investigate user satisfaction, as a measure of acceptance, with a web-based decision aid designed for short-term decision-making. We hypothesize that media richness affects perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, learnability, information quality, perceived social presence, and trust, which eventually affect user satisfaction. We propose a mixed-method to test hypotheses using eyetracking, surveys, and interviews. As a pilot qualitative study (N=8), the survey outcomes indicated that constructs performed well . The eye-tracking and interview results showed that participants prefer multimedia, and pictures and visual designs drew their attention to the decision aid website. Collapse

Abstract: The aim of the paper is identification of factors that explain the use and user satisfaction with University Study-Oriented System (USOS), implemented as a standard software in various Polish universities. The theoretical framework is based on DeLone and McLean Updated IS Success Model (DeLone and McLeen 2003). The original model was extended with two additional constructs, introducing two indirect feedback loops and the modification of the Intention to use/Use construct. The comparative studies were undertaken using the samples selected among the students of two state-owned universities of economics and business in Poland. In the process of model estimation, reliability and validity analysis and testing mediation effects, the multi-group structural equation modelling with latent variables was used. The results of the study indicate that no statistical difference exists in the perception of IS success between the analyzed universities. Collapse

Abstract: The information systems (IS) success model, introduced in 1992, provided IS research with a comprehensive set of dependent variables for project success. While the model addresses both process and variance considerations, the latter has dominated the research. Concurrently, the benefits of hybrid theories have been discussed in the literature, and there have been calls for an integrated view of IS success that includes the process perspective. We build on this momentum by presenting a hybrid model based on a longitudinal case study of the development and implementation of a patient-flow decision-support system at a large not-for-profit hospital. Our model remains true to the DeLone and McLean framing but elaborates on the process elements. The hybrid model expands our ability to analyse multiple dimensions of IS success and integrates diverse research findings into the IS success model, providing a revised version for future research to extend. Abstract: The growing complexity of systems, the increasing intensity of their use, and the greater prominence of technology in supporting organizational activities has meant that information systems (IS) professionals in organizations have to go beyond offering routine task-related support when working with their non-IS colleagues. For organizations to see IS professionals as effective, they have to carry out empathic behaviors such as sharing their IT knowledge with their non-IS colleagues and taking the initiative to minimize inconveniences during IS projects. Drawing from the organizational citizenship behavior concept, we develop a multilevel research model to examine how behaviors that IS professionals perform influence IS departments' effectiveness. Using data from more than 1,000 respondents working in the global finance industry, we conducted both cross-level and unit-level analyses and found results that support our arguments. Our results deepen the extent to which we understand the role that IS professionals play in supporting post-adoption IS use and digitally empowering business units while also performing their traditional roles. Prior literature has suggested that data analytics capabilities (DAC) are critical in generating value from data and data analytics for business organizations. However, prior research has primarily centered on examining the role of resources in data and datarelated technologies and ignored the importance of data services and the quality of data-related resources in building DAC and in generating value. Thus, this study develops a data analytics capability building model based on the resource-based view and the information systems success model to explain how data quality, data system quality, and data service quality in business organizations may help build DAC, which could enhance business organizations' business performance.
