Abstract: Organizational information security performance is inextricably tied to the security behavior of employees. While employee behavior has long been considered a challenge to information security, recent shifts to a more remote work force have amplified organizational focus on employees to protect information assets. Under these conditions, InfoSec Extra Role Behaviors (ERBs) have become increasingly important to mitigating security threats. The literature suggests that mindfulness is an important human factor that may lead to InfoSec ERBs. We examine mindfulness through the lens of trait activation theory. Trait activation theory (TAT) explicitly ties individual traits to situational features of the environment to predict trait related behavior. In TAT, a relevant feature of the organizational environment is situation strength which constrains behavioral variance through trait expression. Thus, we operationalize sanctions as a measure for situation strength in the InfoSec context and propose a model that examines the interplay between a relevant human factor, mindfulness, and a common organizational intervention, sanctions, and the impact that interplay has on InfoSec ERB enactment. Abstract: Over the years, there has been a drastic increase in awareness of medical mistakes by researchers, hospitals, insurance companies, etc. The rise in mistakes has occurred for several reasons. One reason is that hospitals and other healthcare facilities spend millions incorporating information systems and technology into healthcare, which is thought to help reduce the number of mistakes. Even with the significant improvements technology has brought, mistakes are made every day, costing the United States healthcare system billions and patients' lives. This study explores technological, human, and procedural factors that influence nursing documentation errors, resulting in negligent medical mistakes. There is no easy solution to reducing the number of medical mistakes, but improving documentation in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems is a start. Collapse

Abstract: In an era of heightened uncertainty and urgency around disruption, digital transformation has become a global priority on leadership agendas and garnered the attention of researchers across the Information Systems (IS) field. However, the ongoing acceleration of digital technologies not only poses great opportunities but also major challenges for organizations that use digital transformation as a means to survive. Yet, literature on how to successfully implement, manage, and sustain digital transformations that possibly change an organization's business model, along with its product offering, structure, and culture, is often vague and hence various assumptions can go unexamined. This panel report aggregates insights from an author development workshop on "Managing and Sustaining Digital Transformations" and provides different perspectives from six experts. Specifically, it adopts the problematization method to discuss ten commonly held assumptions regarding digital transformation and presents a research roadmap to guide digital transformation research in the future. Abstract: The adoption of augmented reality (AR) has been one of the defining technological trends of the past decade. While AR has experienced significant growth in consumer electronics, its potential for professional use still needs to be explored. Despite the growing interest in AR, determining its feasibility and potential to satisfy business needs remains challenging. To address this gap, we used a mixedmethod research approach to create a guiding framework called the process augmentability canvas. Drawing on a comprehensive case study of a major European maintenance, repair, and overhaul service provider, as well as state-of-the literature, we present a canvas that allows scholars and practitioners to evaluate AR's applicability for a given process thoroughly. By providing a structured approach to analyzing AR solutions, the process augmentability canvas contributes to a better understanding of how AR can be used efficiently in organizational settings. Abstract: Governments have been publishing Open Government Data (OGD) on online portals to encourage the development of value-added services. The success of these services depends heavily on the quality of OGD and its metadata. Several methods have been proposed to evaluate this quality, but some rely on manual assessments, which can be time-consuming and expensive to perform. Furthermore, these methods focus on the portal rather than the data, ignore user preferences, or do not distinguish between metadata and data quality. This makes it difficult for users to identify data quality issues. This paper proposes a list of OGD quality dimensions for assessing data and metadata quality. The dimensions were identified through a literature review and integrated into a novel conversational agent that incorporates user preferences into the quality assessment. A usability evaluation with 14 users reveals its ease of use and usefulness for obtaining overall and detailed (meta)data quality. Collapse

Abstract: Current state-of-the-art artificial intelligence struggles with accurate interpretation of out-of-library (OOL) objects. One method proposed remedy is analogical reasoning (AR), which utilizes abductive reasoning to draw inferences on an unfamiliar scenario given knowledge about a similar familiar scenario. Currently, applications of visual AR gravitate toward analogy-formatted image problems rather than to computer vision data sets. The Image Recognition Through Analogical Reasoning Algorithm (IRTARA) approach described herein shows how AR can be leveraged to improve computer vision in OOL situations. IRTARA produces a word-based term frequency list that characterizes the OOL object of interest. To evaluate the quality of the results of IRTARA, both quantitative and qualitative assessments are used, including a baseline to compare the automated methods with human-generated results. Fifteen OOL objects were tested using IRTARA, which showed consistent results across all three evaluation methods on the objects that performed exceptionally well or poorly overall. Collapse

Abstract: The Covid-19 pandemic has caused a widespread disruption to the way that we work. One of its lasting consequences will be the ubiquity of remote work. The effective use of collaboration tools is therefore a critical factor for information systems (IS) research when design the workplaces of the future. We theorize that social presence and workplace ergonomics control are important predictors of perceived performance. Moreover, we investigate how different factors (i.e., collaboration tool efficacy, mode of work, and number of meetings) influence social presence. Using survey data (N = 389), we provide evidence that workplace ergonomics control and social presence are indeed important for perceived performance. Surprisingly, we observe that only collaborative platform efficacy has a significant impact on social presence, and that neither the number of meetings nor the modality were significant factors. Based upon these results, we derive implications for theory and practice. Collapse

Abstract: Digital agents are considered a general-purpose technology. They spread quickly in private and organizational contexts, including education. Yet, research lacks a conceptual framing to describe interaction with such agents in a holistic manner. While focusing on the interaction with a pedagogical agent, that is, a digital agent capable of natural-language interaction with a learner, we propose a model of learning activity based on activity theory. We use this model and a review of prior research on digital agents in education to analyze how various characteristics of the activity, including features of a pedagogical agent or learner, influence learning outcomes. The analysis leads to identification of information systems research directions and guidance for developers of pedagogical agents and digital agents in general. We conclude by extending the activity theory-based model beyond the context of education and show how it helps designers and researchers ask the right questions when creating a digital agent. Abstract: Despite the promised potential of artificial intelligence (AI), insights into real-life human-AI hybrids and their dynamics remain obscure. Based on digital trace data of over 1.4 million forecasting decisions over a 69-month period, we study the implications of an AI sales forecasting system's introduction in a bakery enterprise on decision-makers' overriding of the AI system and resulting hybrid performance. Decisionmakers quickly started to rely on AI forecasts, leading to lower forecast errors. Overall, human intervention deteriorated forecasting performance as overriding resulted in greater forecast error. The results confirm the notion that AI systems outperform humans in forecasting tasks. However, the results also indicate previously neglected, domain-specific implications: As the AI system aimed to reduce forecast error and thus overproduction, forecasting numbers decreased over time, and thereby also sales. We conclude that minimal forecast errors do not inevitably yield optimal business outcomes when detrimental human factors in decision-making are ignored. Collapse
