Abstract: Firms are increasingly adopting digital transformation as a strategic priority. However, the path to successful transformation remains uncertain for many organizations. This paper examines the establishment and evolution of competency centers in two case study organizations, historically used in enterprise systems, in addressing the complexity and challenges of digital transformation. The interactions within these competency centers are analyzed through assemblage theory to understand the emergent relations between heterogeneous parts (technology, people, and orga­ nization) and the dynamic processes of new configurations. The insights from this research show the critical role of the competency center in any enterprise system’s success and how it could continue playing a central role in future digital transformation initiatives. By providing a new lens to examine these issues, the assemblage theory provided a new theoretical perspective to the IS field and a new alternative empirical setting to the organizational literature. Abstract: Workarounds are goal-driven deviations from the standard operating procedures performed to overcome obstacles constraining day-to-day work. Despite starting as temporary fixes, they can become established across an organisation and trigger the innovation of processes and IT artefacts that can resolve misfits permanently. Although prior research has elicited antecedents and types of workarounds, it is not known how workarounds diffuse in an organisation and, thereby, innovating co-workers' activities, IT artefacts, and organisational structures. The results of our multiple two-year case study provide unique empirical insights into the diffusion of workarounds and how they can act as generative mechanisms for bottom-up process innovation. Abstract: When unexpected events occur, IT project teams need to react appropriately in order to limit the potentially negative, and sometimes disastrous consequences of such events. Yet, while past research has identified unexpected events as being an important aspect to consider when managing projects, the existing literature does not provide a clear conceptualization of this concept which limits the development of new theories and thus the ability to guide practitioners. Based on a literature review and to advance our understanding of unexpected events in IT projects and their effective management, and facilitate future theoretical developments on IT project management, the present paper develops a conceptualization that clearly distinguishes this concept from other closely related ones, as well as proposing a research framework that links it to IT project team responses and their consequences. Abstract: This paper investigates how Critical Success Factors (CSFs) can be used to determine appropriate measurement items for design and assessment of ERP Maturity Models (ERPMMs). Our systematic literature review answers: RQ1 What are the primary dimensions of CSFs that can be used as measurement items for ERP maturity models? and RQ2 What are the additional dimensions of CSFs that can be used to evaluate the maturity of organisations using new generation ERP systems? Results reveal most ERPMMs can be categorised into specific CSF dimensions, and different sets of measurement items can be derived from these dimensions. The main contribution of this research is a CSF classification framework with eight dimensions: Governance, Culture, Technology, Operation, People, Project, Performance, and Products & Services. Our CSF classification framework will help researchers and practitioners to select a set of suitable CSF measurement items to assess maturity levels of organisations using new generation ERP systems. Implementing Cloud ERP systems is not always easy, and at times very challenging. Hence, client organizations and vendors should be aware of challenges to help ensure successful implementation of Cloud ERP systems. The aim of this study is to develop a taxonomy of Cloud ERP implementation challenges. A set of thirty-one challenges was identified from a systematic literature review, and were then categorized by following the taxonomy development process proposed by Nickerson et al. (2013). Abstract: The emergence of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) has guided organizations to focus on ensuring their competitive advantages by utilizing its capabilities. This study proposes a theoretical model for measuring ERP post-implementation success and presents empirical findings using a conceptual model derived from the Delone and Mclean Information Systems (IS) success model. Four of the model's dimensions were identified to measure ERP system post-implementation success namely: ERP system Quality, ERP Information Quality, ERP Service Quality and ERP Post Implementation Benefits. The three quality dimensions of Delone and Mclean's model were used as independent variables to assess effects on ERP post-implementation success. A total of 233 questionnaires were collected from ERP users at Commercial Bank of Ethiopia and the data was analyzed using Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM) techniques. Results show positive relationships between the model constructs, and the model explained 59.31% of the variance in ERP system post-implementation success. Collapse

Abstract: Routine reconfiguration is a key challenge for IT-enabled organizational transformation projects. However, how to successfully reconfigure existing routines remains unclear. This case study explores how to achieve routine reconfiguration in IT-enabled organizational transformation and suggests that routine reconfiguration can be achieved through the cross-fertilization of business domain knowledge. We identified a process model of crossfertilization of business domain knowledge, which essentially incorporates three key processes (i.e., knowledge combination, reflection, and experimentation) and indicates that cross-fertilization can bring changes to all three types of trajectory components. Abstract: The implementation of Cloud Enterprise Resource Planning systems (Cloud ERP) is always challenging, which requires a variety of risks to be taken into consideration to ensure the success of the implementation. The assessment of Critical Success Factors (CSFs) in on-premise ERP implementations has been well documented but this research has not carried through to Cloud ERP implementations. Therefore, the contribution of this paper is to provide research and practice with identification and analysis of 35 CSFs through a systematic literature review. Drawing from the literature, we found security, project management, and communication are the top three widely cited CSFs during implementation. We also identify critical gaps in current research, such as inconclusiveness of findings related to CSFs and a lack of discussion on the nature of criticality of those CSFs. Furthermore, the attributes of CSFs are investigated in order to explore CSFs in a more logical and systematical way. Collapse

Abstract: Organizational sensemaking is crucial to enterprise resource planning (ERP) implementation. This is because it enables the focal organization to gain an understanding of the unique contextual issues within and surrounding the organization, and continuously monitor and reinterpret these issues so that the approach to ERP implementation can be modified or realigned accordingly. Yet, little attention has been paid to studying the nature and implications of this process. Using a case study of the ERP implementation journey of Shanghai Tobacco Corporation, a Chinese state-owned enterprise, this paper explores the different ways in which organizational sensemaking can unfold in the context of ERP implementation. Analyses of our data suggest that the process of organizational sensemaking is influenced by a sensemaking structure, which consists of a technical structure (i.e., the technical foundation for sensemaking) and a social structure (i.e., the behavioral norms and relational ties surrounding sensemaking). The sensemaking structure, in turn, is influenced by the contextual conditions surrounding ERP implementation. With its findings, this study contributes a process model of ERP implementation from a sensemaking perspective to complement the existing research, and provides indications to practice on the effective implementation of ERP systems.
