Abstract: Despite the dominance of customer co-creation experience value (CCEV) in the value co-creation research, its theoretical domain has not been systematically analysed and developed. Specifically, little is known about the nature of social media-enabled CCEV. To address the knowledge gaps, this study employs a five-step procedure to develop a conceptualisation and instrument of CCEV construct in a social media context. First, drawing on the relevant literature, we determine the conceptual framework, definition, and assumptions of CCEV. Second, we employ grounded theory methodology to analyse customer review data from three representative social media sites and identify the dimensions of CCEV (four themes consisting of 10 dimensions). Third, we create an item pool of CCEV based on the prior work and in-depth interviews of 10 customers. In the fourth and fifth steps, we collect three waves of quantitative data to develop and validate the instrument including item refinement (n1 = 234), instrument validation (n2 = 521), and nomological validity examination (n3 = 615). The results indicate that the instrument exhibits satisfactory reliability and validity. Our work contributes to theory and practice by presenting a context-specific and fine-grained conceptualisation of CCEV and a reliable and valid survey instrument. Collapse

Abstract: Effectuating enterprise systems success through project-based, executive IT governance in the form of steering committees is a complex and multi-leveled challenge. Insight into the design of steering committees and what interrelated governance components are required is very limited. We propose a multi-leveled model to design effective steering committees. We develop this theoretical model and surmise that our project-based IT governance model offers more effective control. This proposition was developed using a sequential mixed-methods approach that combines qualitative and quantitative inquiry, and empirical research. We articulate a theoretical model informed by the punctuated sociotechnical change model, which synthesizes the dynamic capabilities and other components that influence steering committee performance. We find steering committees can achieve implementation success by balancing dynamic capabilities, structure, processes, and objectives. Contrary to common expectations, we learn that balanced, dynamic and agile steering committees are more effective than those that follow stale, procedural or routine approaches. Collapse

Abstract: Positive deviance refers to behavior that deviates from the norms of the reference group and has positive effects on the organization. It is an endogenous source of organizational creativity that has been shown to be powerful tool for learning and change. Despite growing interest, little remains known about the factors that stimulate positive deviance; in particular, how management can enable its emergence. In this paper, we explore the relationship between leadership and positive deviance through a conversion mixed methods field study of two hierarchical layers of store management in a large Australian retailer. Our findings indicate that management can best enable the emergence of positive deviance by combining empowering leadership behaviors with adequate levels of contingent reward and monitoring behaviors. These findings suggest that, depending on the frame of reference, positive deviance may emerge as a source for innovation that is endogenous to routines, rather than deviance from routines. Collapse

Abstract: We consider recent research in IS, as well as recent advances in the fields of psychology and sociology. As an alternative to existing models, we propose a new strategic path to study IT use through users’ IT culture and IT needs. Our contributions are (1) theoretical: we investigate the predictive value for IT usage of several new constructs and show that both expectancy-based and needs-based theories of motivation should be taken into account in acceptance models, (2) methodological: we adopt an exploratory, mixed-method, grounded theory approach and use both quantitative and qualitative data and methods, an unusual approach in IS research that allows new perspectives, and (3) practical: our results highlight the fact that highly IT-acculturated users may hinder (rather than facilitate) new-IT acceptance if their situational IT needs are ignored. Therefore, when the strategic decision of implementing new IT is made, managerial attention must be focused on these users in order to drive toward the alignment of their IT needs and managerially-perceived organizational IT needs. Our work opens the way to numerous avenues for future research. Collapse

Abstract: Collaboration in research continuously gains importance. Recent developments in online collaboration technology, namely social research network sites (SRNS), specifically aim to support research collaboration. SRNS allow researchers to present themselves, to network, to communicate, and to collaborate. Acceptance of this technology by researchers has received little academic attention, a void this researchin-progress addresses. Building on the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology and its recent extension for collaboration technology we present a study design and a theory-based research model to investigate acceptance of online collaboration technology by researchers. As technology adoption research is still dominated by quantitative studies, our study design combines qualitative and quantitative elements and thus makes a methodological contribution. Analyzing qualitative results of 11 focus group sessions, we extend the theory-based model to integrate User Resistance. Additionally, three constructs are identified as antecedents of Performance Expectancy (communication benefits and noise) and Effort Expectancy (privacy concerns). Collapse
