Abstract: In this study, we propose a theoretical model of factors influencing employee creativity as well as a proposed approach to testing this model. In the past, employee creativity and organizational innovation have been studied in the context of a stable work environment. However, the COVID-19 pandemic has altered the fundamentals of the traditional work environment in such a way that existing IS theories may not address creativity and innovation issues. We address this gap by proposing a theoretical model to investigate the antecedents and moderators of employee creativity and innovation in a pandemic context. Collapse

Abstract: Building on the componential theory of creativity, we studied how the crowdsourcing creativity support architectures and the task knowledge intensity levels affect the crowd's creativity. Using an online experiment, we found that remixing can trigger the crowd to be more creative than external stimuli and using either architecture triggers the crowd to be more creative overall. Also, the crowd is more creative in solving low-knowledge-intensity tasks than in solving high-knowledge-intensity tasks. Interestingly, regardless of the knowledge intensity levels of tasks, crowdsourcing support architectures have a significant impact on the crowd's creativity. Therefore, our paper contributes to the crowdsourcing literature on promoting crowd creativity and provides practical implications on solving societal challenges, especially large-scale problems. Abstract: The front-end of innovation (FEI) is critical for successful innovation in contemporary organi zations. Employee creativity, or creative behavior, is at the heart of the FEI and it encompasses three activities: idea generation, idea elaboration, and idea championing. Information technology (IT) can play an important role in enabling these activities but extant research has focused pri marily on IT-enabled idea generation. This paper complements the extant research by examining the entire set of activities that compose FEI. Specifically, we develop a model that examines ITenabled idea generation, IT-enabled elaboration and IT-enabled championing, and that, grounded in the componential theory of creativity, analyzes their key drivers. An empirical study estab lishes the applicability of the model. The paper contributes to IS research and practice by shed ding light on the tripartite role that organizational IT can play in employee creativity, and it serves as a springboard for future research. Abstract: Ways to support employees' performance of creativity tasks are critical of sustainable business competitiveness. Since many existing creativity software applications make use of pictures to uplift users' creativity performance, immersive systems should potentially achieve similar beneficial effects. This study adheres to several theories and concepts, including Amabile's (2011) componential theory of creativity, Csikszentmihaly's (1996) flow theory and Jansson and Smith's (1991) design fixation. The study aims to explore whether and how individual immersive VR systems can enhance creativity performance. The results of the study will shed light on the underlying mechanism through which immersive systems render impacts to individual creativity performance. A better understanding of creativity performance on individual level facilitates future exploration of how collaboration work in the immersive systems can be improved. On practical implication, it will contribute to the expanding interests in the use of immersive systems in business training contexts. Collapse

Abstract: This paper put forth a model studying the creativity-enabling potential in organisational IT. Building on the Componential Theory of Creativity we study how individual level drivers can lead organisation member to generate creative ideas when working with newly implemented IT. We explore two specific drivers, namely IT fluency and IT mastery motivation, and further study organisational and social antecedents of these drivers. These antecedents are IT training, peer-based IT support, organisational learning culture, and IT advocacy. We provide empirical support for our model based on data collected through a cross-sectional survey of working professionals. Our paper offers contribution to research by demonstrating the creativity potential embedded in any organisational IT, and to practitioners by providing insights on tools that can be used to realize this creativity potential. Abstract: While the importance of innovation as a dominant driver of societal and economic progress is well established, the processes and outcomes of innovation remain distressingly ad-hoc and unpredictable. In particular, the Front End of Innovation (FEI) provides many open questions as innovators are challenged to understand the opportunity context, generate novel ideas, and evaluate these ideas for the implementation of solutions. We propose an original model of the FEI with a nascent theory base drawn from recent perspectives in the areas of innovation, creativity, knowledge, and design science. A key insight is the application of a knowledge maturity lens to distinguish four categories of innovation – invention, exaptation, advancement, and exploitation. We conclude with an agenda for future research to extend innovation theories and with actionable advice for improving current practices of innovation. Collapse

Abstract: Delivering quality customer service has emerged as a strategic imperative, one that is increasingly tied to an organizational information system resources, work environment, and capabilities. Drawing upon theories on the IS, organizational behavioral and human psychology at organizational environment, this paper develops a model to investigate the extent to which orgainational environment and operator’s positive psychological traits impacts on their performance in IS delivering customer service. Based on the developed model, this paper hypothesizes how systems satisfaction, and organizational environment mediating through the operator’s psychological perspective influence on their performance. The model is first pilot tested using a total of 51 survey data collected from call center IS of Korea Telecom. This test reveals that constructs are robust and could be used to test the conceptual model and associated hypotheses. Finally, the model would be empirically validated using survey data about call center IS from the same source. Results may shed new light on the assessing operator’s performance associated with organizational IS. The implications of the findings for research and practice are discussed. Collapse
