Abstract: This study seeks to thoroughly understand the organizational context in which Artificial Intelligence (AI) would be implemented, through a systematic review and analysis of articles published (up to 2021) in 31 journals on information systems, business, management, and operations management. Seventy themes are identified from the literature and categorized into organizational, information systems, technological, and people dimensions for the antecedents, challenges, guidelines, and consequences of AI implementation in organizations. A conceptual framework for understanding AI implementation in organizations is also proposed. This study provides a research agenda to guide future research and facilitate knowledge accumulation and creation on AI implementation. Collapse

Abstract: Knowledge transfer within organizations has important implications for organizational performance and competitive advantage. In this virtual special issue, we review articles on this topic published in Organization Science between 2014 and 2020 and identify 53 articles for their theoretical and empirical contributions. These articles examine knowledge transfer through five transfer mechanisms: social networks, routines, personnel mobility, organizational design, and search. We consider the intersection of each transfer mechanism with important components of knowledge transfer (characteristics of sources/recipients, characteristics of knowledge, and characteristics of contexts). We present 15 exemplar articles, each of which reflects the intersection of a mechanism and a component of knowledge transfer. We also present an overview of the methodological approaches and empirical contexts that are utilized. We conclude our article with a discussion of future research opportunities. The articles published in Organization Science have advanced understanding of both the mechanisms through which knowledge transfer occurs and the conditions under which it is most likely. Collapse

Abstract: Research advances in artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities have resulted in intelligent and humanlike AI-enabled technology (AIET). The concept of anthropomorphism—the attribution of human characteristics to nonhuman beings or entities—has received increasing attention from academia and industries. However, research on anthropomorphism in the AIET context is relatively new and fragmented, with limited efforts to evaluate current research or consolidate existing knowledge. To bridge this gap, this descriptive literature review of 55 studies seeks to identify research trends, AIET types, theoretical foundations, and methods. The study also analyzes how anthropomorphism has been conceptualized and operationalized in the AIET context, and the thematic analysis identifies research gaps and suggests future explorations. The proposed conceptual framework for exploring the interplay of anthropomorphism with its antecedents and consequences provides a nomological network for future research. Collapse

Abstract: Cyberbullying on social networking sites is an emerging societal issue that has drawn significant scholarly attention. The purpose of this study is to consolidate the existing knowledge through a literature review and analysis. We first discuss the nature, research patterns, and theoretical foundations. We then develop an inte­ grative framework based on social cognitive theory to synthesize what is known and identify what remains to be learned, with a focus on the triadic reciprocal relationships between perpetrators, victims, and bystanders. We discuss the key findings and highlight opportunities for future research. We conclude this paper by noting research contributions and limitations. Collapse

Abstract: Research on the role of social media in crisis management has led to a deeper understanding of their affordances. This research, however, is fragmented, with a primary focus on crisis response. We lack a clear conceptualization of the affordances that social media offer by learning from them to prepare strategically for crises. Based on a systematic review of 128 papers, we inductively build a framework of social media affordances for organizational learning in crisis management. We discuss their role and interplay in strategic crisis management, focusing on organizational crisis learning, and outline avenues for future research based on this foundation. Collapse

Abstract: No research has systematically reviewed the role of spatial ability in virtual reality (VR) learning. This has resulted in inefficiencies in educators’ ability to adopt personalized teaching strategies based on learners’ spatial ability to maximize the effectiveness of VR. Therefore, this study conducted a literature review on spatial ability in VR learning to provide researchers and educators with a comprehensive understanding of how spatial ability affects VR learning. After searching Scopus with keywords and applying inclusion and exclusion criteria, the researchers identified 30 relevant research articles for the review. This literature review mainly analyzed research trends, contexts, theories, methodologies, and findings from the identified articles. The contradictory role of spatial ability in VR learning was also summarized. Based on the literature analysis, this study identified research gaps and indicated directions for future research. Abstract: While design science research has established its position as a prominent field of research in the IS community, there is a lack of transparency regarding the impact of recent information systems design science research (IS DSR) papers. This lack of insight arguably poses challenges to an informed discourse and limits our ability to communicate the progress that IS DSR has achieved. Therefore, after mapping impactful IS DSR papers, we develop a scientometric study to address the lack of insights into factors that affect the scientific impact of IS DSR papers in top IS journals. In this study, we focus on active, IS-specific DSR areas and consider papers published in the AIS Senior Scholars' basket of journals between 2004 and 2014. Specifically, we develop a model that explores factors that affect IS DSR papers' scientific impact. Our findings show that theorization and novelty significantly explain scientific impact. We discuss our work's implications and derive recommendations intended to shape future knowledge creation in IS DSR. Collapse

Abstract: This paper describes the concept of a novel research into the use of business simulation games (BSGs) in management education, planned to be carried out in Polish higher education institutions (HEIs). Although BSGs have had very good reputation for years, the scope of their application at Polish HEIs has not been fully examined so far. Thus, the primary objective of this research is to obtain a comprehensive overview of this phenomenon at Polish HEIs. The research is to be organized into 7 tasks, while the techniques to be applied entail: a literature review, interviews with the HEI officials who are responsible for adoption and development of BSGs in the educational process, interviews with the heads of particular course programs. The interviewing methods to be adopted are: a survey/pen-and-paper personal interview and a computer-assisted web interview, whereas the raw data collected is to be subjected to statistical analysis and inference. Abstract: Customer relationship management (CRM) has become a critical research topic for scholars and practitioners, yet most existing CRM research overviews depend on the authors’ subjective judgements and are limited to the marketing field, making it difficult to comprehensively understand CRM research. This study combines a quantitative bibliometric methodology with qualitative systematic analysis and provides a comprehensive CRM roadmap with a broad disciplinary scope. Using datasets from the Web of Science (WoS), this study conducts a co-word analysis of 1971 publications on CRM from East Asia, North America and Europe. The results suggest that CRM studies differ across regions: eastern studies emphasize utilizing technologies to develop CRM, and western studies focus on the effects of CRM programmes on outcomes. Based on the bibliometric analysis and CRM studies, this study provides a list of systematic questions worthy of being explored as it can provide insight for researchers and practitioners. Collapse

Abstract: Literature investigating social media-based innovation has grown considerably in the last years, making a timely review. Accordingly, we systematically review studies of the so-called “latency phase” (2003–2013) outlining a framework based on two main actors – innovation seeker and innovation provider – and three main questions – why (determinants), how (activities), and what (outcomes). This framework is instrumental to unveil the foundational ideas and concepts, gaps, and contradictory results.
