Abstract: Password manager applications have the potential to alleviate password pain and improve password strength, yet they are not widely adopted. Password managers are dissimilar to other kinds of software tools, given that the leakage of the credentials they store could give a hacker access to all the individual's online accounts. Moreover, adoption requires a deliberate switch away from an existing (manual) password management routine. As such, traditional technology adoption models are unlikely to model password manager adoption accurately. In this paper, we propose and explain how we validated a theoretical model of smartphone password manager adoption. We commenced by carrying out exploratory interviews with 30 smartphone owners to identify factors that influence adoption. These were used to develop a model that reflects the password manager adoption process, building on migration theory. The proposed model, MIGRANT (MIGRation pAssword maNager adopTion), was validated and subsequently refined in a week-long study with 198 smartphone owners, combining self-report and observation to measure constructs. This study contributes to the information security behavioral literature by isolating the main factors that encourage or deter password manager adoption, and those that moor smartphone owners in their current practices, hindering switching. With this investigation, we introduce migration theory as a reference theory for future studies in the information security behavioral field. Collapse

Abstract: There are both formal and informal cries that UTAUT and, by association, the stream of research on technology adoption has reached its limit, with little or no opportunities for new knowledge creation. Such a conclusion is ironic because the theory has not been sufficiently and suitably replicated. It is possible that misspecifications in the various replications, applications, and extensions have led to the incorrect conclusion that UTAUT is more robust than it really is, leaving limited opportunities for future work. Although work on UTAUT has included important variables, predictors, and moderators, absent a faithful use of the original specification, it is impossible to assess the true nature of the effects of the original and additional variables. The present meta-analysis uses 25,619 effect sizes reported by 737,112 users in 1,935 independent samples to address this issue. Consequently, we develop a clear current state-of-the-art and revised UTAUT that extends the original theory with new endogenous mechanisms from different, other theories (i.e., technology compatibility, user education, personal innovativeness, and costs of technology) and new moderating mechanisms to examine the generalizability of UTAUT in different contexts (e.g., technology type and national culture). Based on this revised UTAUT, we present a research agenda that can guide future research on the topic of technology adoption in general and UTAUT in particular. Collapse

Abstract: Research on enterprise systems (ES) implementation has focused on different aspects of implementation challenges, employee reactions, and system success. Much of this research has been conducted in developed countries and a few developing countries. This raises an obvious question about the applicability of findings to other contexts with different social and organisational cultures. We examine ES implementations in 12 organisations in Saudi Arabia, an important economic and political frontier and a unique sociocultural context in the Arab World. Using sociotechnical systems theory and institutional theory and the literature on contextualisation, we studied contextual aspects of three important factors related to ES implementations – i.e., ownership and governance, scope management, and employee empowerment. We found that the nature of ownership and governance plays a significant hindering role during implementation. Further, Saudi organisations implementing ES faced major challenges in managing the scope of implementation due to interferences from the top management and/or owners, and lack of justification by the consultants. Finally, we found that owners and top management were deeply concerned about losing their control over employees following ES implementations. We extend prior research and theories by offering contextual explanations unearthed from a context that is different from developed and many developing countries. Collapse

Abstract: Knowledge sharing is a significant component of success in knowledge management. In Saudi Arabia, knowledge management is often lacking when it comes to knowledge sharing adoption, especially between academic staff. This research aims to investigate various factors of knowledge sharing adoption for eLearning communities in Saudi Arabia and to examine the effect of culture as a moderating role on the relationships between these factors and academics’ attitude. Therefore, a framework is aimed at sharing knowledge within the eLearning communities is developed. Data has been collected from public universities in Saudi Arabia. Partial Least Square approach has been applied to analyse the data. The results show individual factors (such as openness in communication, interpersonal trust) and technology acceptance factors (perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use) significantly influence knowledge sharing attitude, while the relationship between people self-motivation and knowledge sharing attitude is insignificant. Subjective norm and attitude significantly impact behavioral intention toward knowledge sharing adoption in Saudi universities’ eLearning communities. Collapse

Abstract: In SMEs, the data usage has been rapidly increasing. Thus, the need to implement and use of the BI systems is crucial in order to enhance the organization performance. This study aims to examine the initial and post-adoption factors that influence owners /managers' decision to adopt and use BI systems in SMEs in SA and to compare effects from these factors on both sides. To achieve this, an integrated model is proposed and empirically tested. This model has integrated established theories including TOE framework, IS adoption for small business and DOI theory. Our results show that, in initial adoption stage, all the proposed factors are significant predictors of BI system adoption, except the relative advantage. In contrast, in post-adoption stage, all those factors are significant predictors of the extent use of BI system, except the relative advantage and complexity. Also the comparison of the initial and post-adoption stages is highlighted. Collapse

Lately, the spending on health information system (HIS) has continued to increase, and there has been a significant increase in the use of mobile technology, social media, wearables and online communities. Telemedicine is a subset of telehealth, specifically the provision of clinical and medical services to patients through technology such as audio, video conferencing, and text messaging. Hence, healthcare organisations have attempted to generate the maximum value out of the system by utilising it effectively. However, we have a limited understanding of the effective use of telemedicine applications from healthcare providers' and patients' perspectives. Previous studies have focused on the implication of HIS use and its impacts on entire healthcare organisations' performances or users' satisfaction. Also, these studies have been restricted to focus on the healthcare providers' perspectives, neglecting other perspectives (such as the patients'). Therefore, this paper seeks to explore what the effective use of telemedicine applications is and what it constitutes from the healthcare providers' and patients' perspectives. Abstract: A large segment of women in developing countries is lagging behind because of civil wars, limited access to education, unfavorable regulations, family responsibilities, and prejudicial culture that favors a muscular workforce. Considering its scalability, ubiquity, neutrality, inclusiveness, and low cost, distance education holds the potentials for empowering underrepresented groups. We describe it as a system, outline its advantageous qualities and feature its role in enabling women to access education, utilize online resources, boost their agency, and achieve collective actions. Abstract: Social commerce is becoming an important hub for product sourcing, which helps companies to connect with customers and to gain competitive advantages. However, very little empirical research that focuses on small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) has been conducted to date. This study examines factors that affect social commerce adoption by SMEs. Using the Technology-Organisation-Environment (TOE) as the theoretical framework, the researchers tested the model and related hypotheses, employing structural equation modelling. The results from a survey of 181 SMEs in Saudi Arabia indicate that trading partner pressure in the environmental context, followed by top management support in the organisational context, and perceived usefulness in the technological context, have the most significant influence on behavioural intention to use social commerce. The research contributions and conclusion as well as limitations and future research directions are presented. Collapse

Abstract: Organizations have often implemented Knowledge Management programs to connect employees better and promote knowledge sharing (KS). In the context of Higher Education Institutions (HEIs), this is particularly valid as knowledge creation and dissemination direct their mission and vision. Academics are one of the pillars of HEIs, where knowledge is created and shared. Nonetheless, as HEIs strive to promote academics’ knowledge sharing culture, the actual behaviour of academics might remain inhibited by numerous issues, namely the organizational. Prior research has been focused primarily on individual, technological and scarce aspects of organizational elements. Therefore, this study assesses the role of organizational climate operationalized by organizational leadership and trust in academics’ KS in HEIs. Partial Least Square (PLS) method where variancebased Structural Equation Modelling (SEM) was applied in this study. Results from 257 surveyed academics indicate that organizational climate has an exceptionally strong influence on academics’ KS practices. Additionally, organizational leadership and trust had a positive relationship with academics’ KS behaviour. These findings indicate that it is necessary to consider organizational elements and their interactions when understanding and fostering academics’ knowledge sharing behaviour in HEIs context. Abstract: This study investigates factors that affect EHR adoption in developing countries, with a focus on the country of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Arabia healthcare system is currently undergoing tremendous transformation under its Saudi Vision 2030 government program. The study suggests that coercive, mimetic, normative, asset specificity and uncertainty factors affect adoption of EHRs in Saudi Arabia. We propose a conceptual model developed through the application of institutional and transaction cost theories.
