Abstract: Insight and understanding of the structure of units can be considered one of mathematics’ most important learning areas, as it is needed in everyday life. It is essential in everyday tasks, such as trading goods, which requires dealing with monetary values and, e.g., lengths, weights, volumes, or area units. In addition, students in higher education after primary school show problems with understanding units by confusing units, especially in advanced STEM subjects, e.g., physics. The paper shows how Augmented Reality (AR) technology can be used to gain insight into understanding units by visualizing units of length using an AR app. The design of the AR app will be presented, which was developed after a theoretical grounding and practical testing with an existing AR measuring tool on the app market. Design Science Research (DSR) will be used to develop a suitable content learning environment using the AR app. The learning environment will then be tested with students again and disseminated in international workshops for teachers. Abstract: An increasing number of public services is delivered primarily via digital channels, however, a pressing problem is that they are frequently avoided or even rejected by marginalized citizens, such as people with disabilities. In this paper, we develop a contextualized framework of digital public service avoidance by people with disabilities that builds on and extends prior information systems research by incorporating complexity as the main antecedent of avoidance but it also leverages findings from social psychology and sociology by incorporating the need for human interaction and stigma consciousness as unique sociocultural barriers. We apply the framework to the context of a digital public service specifically developed for people with disabilities and assess its utility in a quantitative study of 145 severely disabled citizens. Our results uncover the need for interaction as a novel and underexplored driver of avoidance, illustrating that the missing “human touch” may be a hidden barrier to bringing more marginalized citizens online. Abstract: A number of specialized information systems for the digitally disadvantaged (SISD) have been developed to offset the limitations of people less able to participate in the information society. However, contributions from social identity theory and social markedness theory indicate that SISD can activate a stigmatized identity and thus be perceived unfavorably by their target audience. We identify two mechanisms by which functional limitations affect a digitally disadvantaged person's adoption decision: (1) adoption decision as shaped through technology perceptions (i.e., perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and perceived access barriers), and (2) adoption decision as shaped through marked status awareness (i.e., stigma consciousness). We test our contextualized research model on digitally disadvantaged users with physical and/or sensory disabilities. Results of our mediation analysis show that the individuals who have the most to gain from SISD use (i.e., those with greater perceived functional limitations) are doubly disadvantaged: as a group, they find it more challenging to use SISD and are also more sensitive to the fear of being marked as disadvantaged or vulnerable. Abstract: This paper describes how a traditional face-to-face course on enterprise systems is transformed into a blended learning course. Therefore the relevant theoretical background on blended learning and on a multi-perspective approach to enterprise systems is given. Furthermore the case study of an ERP e-learning project called “ERPeL”at the Saarland University is depicted. The components of the ERPeL blended learning course as well as its development procedure are introduced.
