Abstract: This study draws on Basic Human Values theory to investigate why shifts in values occur and how they influence telehealth adoption during a crisis. A literature review of the initial adoption and post-adoption of telehealth during Covid-19 shows how tensions between the personal growth value of patient autonomy and the personal security value of interpersonal care influence continuance in adopting telehealth. Findings show the different potential of values in generating innovative telehealth solutions. Values aimed at protecting financial and reputational resources remain salient during a crisis and must be realized to enable IT adoption that benefits public security. Collapse

Abstract: More and more stakeholders are collecting data for improving their services: from scientific research over public administration to commercial enterprises. Existing data management services offer few rights of co-determination for their users. Data cooperatives aim to provide a democratic alternative to this. Through such a platform cooperative members are supposed to be enabled to share their data in a self-determined way. In this paper, we present a design thinking-based user research with stakeholders of data cooperatives in a health-data context. We provide an overview of motivations, expectations, and interfaces between a cooperative and individuals as cooperative members, organizations, representatives from research, and policy makers. In an iterative process, 34 interviews were conducted with different stakeholder groups, from which 7 personas were subsequently derived. For these, 4 prototypes were developed and tested with potential users. Our results show that all interviewed groups were very interested in the concept of data cooperatives. At the same time, it proves challenging to reconcile the conflicting internal and external requirements and to implement attractive value propositions for all stakeholders. Collapse

Abstract: We investigate the effectiveness of two types of impression management tactics implemented around negative attributes: egocentric (claiming the absence or low presence of a negative attribute in a focal organization) and alter-centric tactics (claiming the greater presence of a negative attribute in an organization’s competitor). We claim that the effectiveness of each tactic depends on the risk of audiences’ skepticism, which stems from the incongruence between the information conveyed in the tactic and audiences’ default expectations about the presence of the attribute among members of a given market segment. Audiences expect a conspicuous presence of the attribute, we propose, the more stakeholders contest a market segment for that very attribute. Thus, we advance that egocentric (alter-centric) tactics are less likely to be effective for contested (uncontested) attributes because the information conveyed in such tactics clashes with audiences’ default expectations, triggering skepticism. We find support for our predictions looking at the impact of nutrient content claims on product sales in the U.S. food retail industry between 2006 and 2015. Funding: H. Abstract: The aim of this systematic literature review (SLR) is to explore how Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) digital technologies are transforming the healthcare sector. Peer-reviewed, full-text research papers published between January 2016 and April 2021, which focused on data-driven healthcare, health data management systems, and the disruptive role of digital technologies in healthcare were retrieved from three electronic databases, namely PubMed Central, Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and MEDLINE. Articles included in the SLR were identified and selected using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guideline. Three main themes were identified from 84 research papers included in the SLR, namely, (i) digital technologies driving the transformation of healthcare, (ii) the impact of digital transformation on healthcare, and (iii) areas of transformation in healthcare. The results showed that technological innovations can mitigate the impact of unequal distribution of healthcare services, reduce healthcare costs, improve the quality of care, and the quality of life for patients and healthcare professionals. Abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has created a worldwide state of emergency, triggering extensive digital innovation within healthcare institutions to recover from the disrupted services caused by the pandemic. The purpose of this research is to explore the phenomena of digital innovation during these extraordinary conditions and to understand the impacts during the pandemic and beyond. To do so, we conducted a systematic literature review by analyzing 130 research articles across research disciplines that were published during the pandemic. We found that the innovation processes were highly iterative and focused on rapid diffusion to address the urgent need for stabilizing and recovering disrupted services. This short-term perspective may result in adverse impacts beyond the pandemic, such as increased inequity. Moreover, we found that some environmental factors were highly adaptive to the pandemic, whereas others were less so. We suggest that organizations should focus on the latter when building resilience to future pandemics. Collapse

Abstract: Recent years have witnessed a rise in employing deep learning methods, especially convolutional neural networks (CNNs) for detection of COVID-19 cases using chest CT scans. Most of the state-of-the-art models demand a huge amount of parameters which often suffer from overfitting in the presence of limited training samples such as chest CT data and thereby, reducing the detection performance. To handle these issues, in this paper, a lightweight multi-scale CNN called LiMS-Net is proposed. The LiMS-Net contains two feature learning blocks where, in each block, filters of different sizes are applied in parallel to derive multi-scale features from the suspicious regions and an additional filter is subsequently employed to capture discriminant features. The model has only 2.53M parameters and therefore, requires low computational cost and memory space when compared to pretrained CNN architectures. Comprehensive experiments are carried out using a publicly available COVID-19 CT dataset and the results demonstrate that the proposed model achieves higher performance than many pretrained CNN models and state-of-the-art methods even in the presence of limited CT data. Our model achieves an accuracy of 92.11% and an F1-score of 92.59% for detection of COVID-19 from CT scans. Further, the results on a relatively larger CT dataset indicate the effectiveness of the proposed model. Collapse

Abstract: We examine how online searches lead to judgment formation in two contexts where statements are negated differently. In one context, a statement (of the form "if P then Q") is negated using "not" (as in "if P then not Q"), while in the other context, it is negated using a different term or phrase (as in "if P then R"). We show that online searches to find information about the validity of this statement generate different results in these contexts. Our findings contribute to extant work on online searches by suggesting that when individuals test the validity of a statement using search engines, their searches lead to categorically different results contingent on the search context. From a practical standpoint, we make recommendations to search engine developers and content providers so online searches generate more inclusive results. Collapse

Abstract: Despite the recent actual uses of Extended Reality (XR) in treatment of patients, some areas are less explored. One gap in research is how XR can improve depth perception for patients. Accordingly, the depth perception process in XR settings and in human vision are explored and trackers, visual sensors, and displays as assistive tools of XR settings are scrutinized to extract their potentials in influencing users’ depth perception experience. Depth perception enhancement is relying not only on depth perception algorithms, but also on visualization algorithms, display new technologies, computation power enhancements, and vision apparatus neural mechanism knowledge advancements. Finally, it is discussed that XR holds assistive features not only for the improvement of vision impairments but also for the diagnosis part. Abstract: Recently, the topic of research data management has appeared at the forefront of Open Science as a prerequisite for preserving and disseminating research data efficiently. At the same time, scientific laboratories still rely upon digital files that are processed by experimenters to analyze and communicate laboratory results. In this study, we first apply a forensic process to investigate the information quality of digital evidence underlying published results. Furthermore, we use semiotics to describe the quality of information recovered from storage systems with laboratory forensics techniques. Next, we formulate laboratory analytics capabilities based on the results of the forensics analysis. Laboratory forensics and analytics form the basis of research data management. Finally, we propose a conceptual overview of open science readiness, which combines laboratory forensics techniques and laboratory analytics capabilities to help overcome research data management challenges in the near future. Abstract: Technology improvements for health care may enable nutritional health management for older adults.Research has yet to map the types of technology utilized to manage nutrition. This scoping review includes research in technology and nutrition to: (1) explain how technology is used to manage the nutrition needs of older adults; (2) describe the types of technology used to manage nutrition. The literature period was 21 years, but 86 percent of the papers retained were published within the past five years. The most common type of technology used is software, which is used to: (1) track, plan, and execute nutrition management and (2) assess technology use. The findings show that software for older adults lacks standardization. The internet of things is a promising area for research, and personal devices emphasize the tablet computer. The results suggest that managing older adult nutrition through technology is not yet a formable research area. Collapse
