Abstract: Driven by the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into daily work, this study investigates the Human-Intelligent Personal Assistants (IPAs) coregulation of work-life practices. Guided by an interpretive case study of Microsoft Viva Insights (MVI), we focus on the participation and influence ofIPAs in daily work-life practices. Our findings reveal three coregulatory roles adopted by IPAsrationalist, normalist, and moralist-that influence personal productivity, social bonding and relationship management, self-care, and work-life boundary management practices. By diving deeper into the human-AI relationship from a coregulation perspective, we contribute to the emerging IS literature on the nature and role of AI in transforming how people work. Our research provides valuable insights for practitioners, developers, and scholars aiming to enhance AI design and management, and investigate AI's broader impact on human behaviours at work. Abstract: Technologies for aging are a growing market. These technologies have significant potential to support individuals whose cognitive changes can make everyday activities challenging. However, the adoption and use of these technologies by people with dementia (PwD) remain poor, indicating potential accessibility and usability issues. Such barriers limit PwD’s ability to contribute to the digital economy and fully engage with society. Personalization, which aligns technology with someone’s unique needs and preferences, may address these issues. We used mixed methods with ten people with mild to moderate dementia to explore how previous ways to personalize (i.e., Windows OS built-in features and settings) and newer personalization applications (i.e., Morphic) might reveal future opportunities for personalization features in technology for aging. This study contributes fifteen design considerations, which, if implemented, may increase the involvement of PwD in the digital economy and society. Collapse

Abstract: The smart transportation system (STS) leverages ubiquitous and networked computing to improve the efficiency of urban mobility. Whilst existing IS work has explored various factors influencing STS development, there is a lack of consideration of how value can be created for building a more sustainable STS. Drawing upon the value co-creation theory and stakeholder theory, we seek to understand the socio-technical shaping of the STS ecosystem and how government, firms and citizens collaboratively create sustainable value for designing and implementing STS initiatives. To reach this aim, we carry out a longitudinal case study over 2016–2018 in Shijiazhuang, China. We offer both theoretical and practical explanations on (i) key value facets with regard to sustainable STS design and implementation; and (ii) a holistic view of iterative value co-creation process pushed by key stakeholders. This study makes particular contributions to the IS, marketing and transportation literature by offering a critical understanding of the social dynamics for shaping a big data-driven STS ecosystem. Abstract: Digital micro-influencers (DMIs) seem to drive social commerce as they connect with customers in tier-II towns better than others. The extant literature on the efforts and work processes of DMIs is limited. The present study fills the gap through a qualitative study in India. Using the persuasion knowledge model as a guiding framework, nineteen qualitative in-depth interviews with the DMIs were conducted and analyzed using thematic analysis. The study finds that understanding the target (target knowledge) helps DMIs in selecting appropriate brands (topic knowledge) and creating compelling content (persuasion knowledge), leading to social commerce. Also, topic knowledge assists persuasion knowledge. The study further offers insights into the nature of the motivators on the DMIs in the light of organismic integration theory. Theoretical and managerial implications for future research are provided. Collapse

Abstract: Digitalization within the healthcare sector has resulted in the accumulation of vast amounts of data that can be utilized towards the improvement of health outcomes. Meaningful use of such data, however, requires that it is standardized. Standardization plays a key role in providing a universal language for data that is exchanged through different health systems. Through a systematic literature review, this paper identifies practices that are vital for an effective standardization process. Ontological development, governance and organizational practices are identified as pertinent to the process of standardization and are analyzed and explained through the lens of a multi-thread social activity model by Fomin et al. (2003). This model provides a comprehensive view of related aspects of design, sensemaking, and negotiation. The analysis shows that all these aspects take place in all stages of the standardization process, and they are highly dependent on each other and can occur simultaneously. Collapse

Abstract: Contemporary information technologies such as social media have invigorated the way knowledge is shared within organizations to the extent that we have to rethink and reassess our understanding of the role and in­ fluence of technology in organizational processes and knowledge sharing. This paper uses the strategy as practice lens guided by the interpretivist philosophy to understand the influence of informal social media practices on knowledge sharing and work processes within an organization. The paper uses empirical evidence from the case study of a telecom organization in Tanzania to gain theoretical insight into informal social media practices and knowledge sharing. This research contributes to the Information Systems (IS) literature by asserting that orga­ nizational processes are achieved by mundane knowledge sharing mediated by informal social media use within the organization. Abstract: Modern workplaces are increasingly reliant on information technologies (IT), which have begun to profoundly affect the technological adaptation behaviors of older workers. Despite globally increasing levels of professional older adult workforce participation and workplace technology use, research in this space is only emerging, particularly in the context of non-standard employment (NSE), work falling outside traditional labor agreements, increasingly adopted by older workers. Using the Self Determination Theory, this qualitative work aims to understand the factors that contribute to professional older workers adaptation to new ITs in NSE. We propose a theoretical framework to explain our findings, suggesting that older professionals’ adaptation to new ITs in NSE are motivated by competence, relatedness and autonomy and moderated by perceived occupational value, IT support, IT-based frustration and generational differences. Our findings offer a comprehensive understanding of motivational dynamics in our research phenomena. Collapse

Abstract: Based on a four-month ethnography in a research unit of an Indian Information Technology (IT) services organization, we explore mobility prospects of engineers in emerging technology work-roles. Indian IT sector in its traditional software and business process services avatar not only aligned with skills expected from IT-related engineering streams such as IT and Computer Science, but also contributed to mobility of engineers irrespective of their prior engineering streams, moulding them into 'generic programmers'. In this study, we explore if the prospects for mobility are any different in this sector as it transitions into providing emerging technology solutions. We illustrate some of the mobility constraints that engineers from non-IT specializations face while accessing emerging technology work-roles, and discuss these findings through a critical realist lens. Our findings depict the importance of IT vs non-IT backgrounds as an important divide for the Indian IT sector as it segues into emerging technologies. Collapse

Abstract: As Product Owners on software development projects, our participants clearly preferred agile as the software development method of choice. We used a Grounded Theory approach to explore the interview data. Through our data analysis we discovered eight factors that influence preference for agile. Product Owner preference for agile methods is identified as the core category. The eight supporting factors are: customer representation, communication, collaborative empowerment, incremental approach, increased accountability, scope dynamics, and create valuable products. We relate these factors to existing literature to show that our participants' experiences and beliefs resonate with the current body of knowledge and we extend the literature by identifying antecedents of preference. This novel combination of field discovered factors provides a unique perspective to information systems development. Collapse

Abstract: Hiring a new employee is traditionally thought to be an uncertain investment. This uncertainty is lessened by the presence of signals that indicate job fitness. Ideally, job applicants objectively signal their qualifications, and those signals are correctly assessed by the hiring team. In reality, signal manipulation is pervasive in the hiring process, mitigating the reliability of signals used to make hiring decisions. To combat these inefficiencies, we propose and evaluate SIGHT, a theoretical class of systems affording more robust signal evaluation during the job application process. A prototypical implementation of the SIGHT framework was evaluated using a mock-interview paradigm. Results provide initial evidence that SIGHT systems can elicit and capture qualification signals beyond what can be traditionally obtained from a typical application and that SIGHT systems can assess signals more effectively than unaided decision-making. SIGHT principles may extend to domains such as audit and security interviews. Collapse
