Abstract: Doxing, a form of adversarial online behavior, is the aggregation and release of an individual's personal information with malicious intent. It is increasingly used to intimidate, punish, or silence individuals. Such weaponization of personal information can result in extreme and intertwined cyber harassment and physical threats, significantly affecting doxees' participation in both cyber and physical communities. While prior research has examined the underlying motives of the doxer, the doxee's perspective has remained largely unexplored. Drawing on data from 14 individuals who have experienced doxing, this study examines the consequences of doxing from the doxee's point of view. Employing the lens of approach and avoidance coping, we explore how doxees respond to doxing threats and adapt their behavior. Our research provides novel insight and themes related to doxing. Based on our analysis, we offer an agenda for information systems (IS) research and practice, paving the way for exploring doxing and potential remedies. Collapse

Abstract: Achieving Customer Success (CS) has become the primary goal for Anything as a service (XaaS) vendors with recurring revenue models to provide continuous value to their customers. This article attempts to present the theoretical insights on the key drivers of CS Management and proposes a conceptual framework based on 32 in-depth interviews with CS Practitioners. First, this article analyses the theoretical foundations and customer value management challenges for the newly emerging field of CS for subscription-based business models. Second, this article outlines three key drivers (prevent churn, increase success, ensure usage continuance from the conceptual framework) for CS from the voices of practicing CS professionals using the Grounded Theory Method (GTM). Third, this article analyzes the key drivers along with root cause analysis for churn and recognizes the practical implications of operating model shifts involved in moving to subscription models for XaaS vendors. Abstract: Subscription-based crowdfunding is an emerging type of crowdfunding that is characterized by enabling regular payments from supporters to creators and a creator-centric rather than one-time project focus. To create a successful subscription-based crowdfunding outcome creators can utilize managerial levers e.g., information control and relational labor. However, thus far, little is known about how creators employ the managerial levers at their disposal and the strategic considerations behind their use. To holistically capture the utilized managerial levers and strategic considerations, we conducted semistructured interviews with 22 creators on the popular subscription-based crowdfunding platform Patreon. Our findings highlight four key managerial levers of subscription-based crowdfunding creators: information control strategies, supporter interaction strategies, supporter acquisition strategies, and supporter retention strategies. We contribute to IS literature by enabling further exploration of creators' thought processes in managing their subscription-based crowdfunding campaigns and offer practical advice to practitioners (e.g., creators and crowdfunding platforms). Abstract: The pressing issue of climate change requires humanity to reduce its ecological footprint drastically. While policymakers and companies must ensure the availability of green options, individuals are requested to contribute to the reduction of carbon emissions substantially. However, even when individuals recognize the need for pro-environmental behaviors, they often have difficulty meeting their expectations. Mobile technology for sustainability has the potential to support them in overcoming this issue by providing the decisive impetus for environmentally friendly behavior. Drawing upon the affordance perspective, we conducted a longitudinal qualitative study with users of a mobile app that encourages individuals to take daily sustainable actions. We present the affordance strands made possible by the app's features and how they lead to environmentally-friendly behaviors. We could observe behavior change with the app's features. We also identify enablers and obstacles to affordance actualization. Our study contributes to Green IS research at the individual level and provides practical implications for mobile technology providers. Collapse

Abstract: Contemporary organizations widely use agile software development to react to unpredictable changes in their business environment. Due to the success of agile methods in contexts similar to the agile sweet spot, organizations have been applying them on a larger scale. However, maintaining oversight in large-scale agile development remains a problem. Metrics can tackle this problem by increasing transparency, but organizations have struggled with their adoption. Furthermore, extant research on large-scale agile development lacks publications investigating metric challenges and success factors. Against this backdrop, we conducted an expert interview study with 23 experts from 13 organizations. The most mentioned challenges are data collection challenges, lack of metric usefulness, and metric calculation challenges. On the other hand, the most occurring success factors are context-dependent metric adoption, implementing an agile metric management process, and ensuring understanding of the metric purpose. Abstract: The outbreak of the global pandemic COVID-19 meant an extreme intensification of digitalization in education. Around the world, technology became a prerequisite for continuing education, as schools were to switch to distance education. Drawing on an institutional logics perspective, this paper aims to explore school leaders' experiences and insights from running a virtual school overnight. Data includes a survey of 105 school leaders in Swedish high schools. The results show clear challenges for schools as institutions, yet most of the school leaders perceived that the shift to virtual classrooms went well and can lead to lasting value for the school. Still, when facing a new situation, organizational problems are uncovered, and the importance of brick-and-mortar schools becomes visible. Contributions include analyzing an extreme case of digitization in schools and conceptualizing two faces of digitalization, that constitute both a preservative and disruptive force in institutional logic. Abstract: Check-in services (CISs) are a highly relevant part of location-based services that provide customer value greater than other mobile services due to their technical possibilities; conversely, CISs also create various risks to pri­ vacy, as they enable the continuous live tracking of users. We investigate these risks and develop a third-order privacy risk construct based on communication privacy management (CPM) theory to explain how a set of concerns violates privacy boundary mechanisms and generates perceived privacy risk. A developmental mixedmethod design is used to qualitatively derive the construct qualitatively through 20 interviews and evaluate it quantitatively using a privacy calculus model with structural equation modelling (N = 431). The results confirm the third-order privacy risk construct and reveal new underlying concerns that create this risk. The results of this study are useful for both practitioners and academics, as they provide insights into how context-specific privacy concerns emerge in advanced mobile services, such as CISs. Abstract: In March 2020, many organizations requested their employees to work from home to reduce their employees’ risk of a COVID-19 infection. Research has suggested that working from home increases perceived stress due to blurring boundaries between work and private life. We examine whether this finding also holds for “enforced working from home” (EWFH) due to COVID-19 based on a four-week diary study in April and May 2020 with 37 participants from a German university. We suggest psychological detachment and communication overload as explaining variables for the relationship between EWFH and perceived stress. Our data show that EWFH leads neither to an inability to detach nor to communication overload. Similarly, EWFH does not increase participants’ stress level. The findings show that working from home is a viable option for the future and that specifics of the EWFH setting, such as wide organizational support, can improve the working from home experience. Abstract: Organizations are increasingly adopting artificial intelligence (AI) for business processes. AI-based recommendations aim at supporting users in decision-making, e.g., by pre-filtering options. However, users can often hardly understand how these recommendations are developed. This issue is called “black box problem”. In the context of Human Resources Management, this leads to new questions regarding the acceptance of AI-based recommendations in the recruiting process. Therefore, we develop a model based on the theory of planned behavior explaining the relation between the user’s perception of the black box problem and the attitude toward AI-based recommendations distinguishing between a mandatory and voluntary use context. We conducted 21 interviews with experts from recruiting and AI. Our results show that the perception of the black box problem conceptualized by the awareness and the evaluated relevance relates to the user’s attitude toward AI-based recommendations. Further, we show that the use context has a moderating effect on that relation. Collapse

Abstract: Workplaces develop more and more to digital workplaces. However, this may lead to technostress. An understanding of the profiles of technologies used at the digital workplace, their interplay, and how they influence technostress is valuable as it can assist developers of technologies and designers of workplaces to prevent technostress. Therefore, we analyze literature and conduct expert interviews to identify ten characteristics of digital technologies that relate to technostress. By analyzing data from 4,560 employees, we evaluate the characteristics. Furthermore, we develop characteristic profiles of multiple technologies used at the respondent's digital workplace. Lastly, we investigate their influence on technostress creators using structural equation modeling. We find that the different portfolios of technology profiles influence technostress creators in different manners. Our contributions are identifying additional characteristics of digital technologies, showing the importance of investigating workplaces as a whole, and highlighting design opportunities for health-oriented workplaces that alleviate technostress.
