Abstract: Multi-attribute Large-Scale Group Decision-Making (MALSGDM) problems require a plethora of Decision Makers (DMs) with different knowledge structures to evaluate the decision alternatives with respect to the multiple attributes of the problem. To deal with the heterogeneous assessment information provided by the DMs with different concerns, this study develops a heterogeneous MALSGDM method considering individual concerns and information credibility. Under heterogeneous attribute concerns, an approach for fusing individual preference information is presented utilizing Dempster–Shafer theory. A method for determining the weights of each subgroup is given by combining the subgroup size and the credibility of the subgroup preference information. Next, a hybrid consensus measure is proposed to compute the consensus level of the heterogeneous preference information. A feedback mechanism based on the unit adjustment cost is then designed to promote consensus reaching. Finally, an analysis and discussion are performed to validate the value of this research. Abstract: Detecting abnormal trajectories is an important task in research and industrial applications, which has attracted considerable attention in recent decades. This work studies the existing trajectory outlier detection algorithms in different industrial domains and applications, including maritime, smart urban transportation, video surveillance, and climate change domains. First, we review several algorithms for trajectory outlier detection. Second, different taxonomies are proposed regarding application-, output-, and algorithm-based levels. Third, evaluation of 10 trajectory outlier detection algorithms is performed on small, large, and big trajectory databases. Finally, future challenges and open issues with regard to trajectory outliers are derived and discussed. This survey offers a general overview of existing trajectory outlier detection algorithms in industrial informatics applications. As a result, mature solutions may be further developed by data mining and machine learning communities. Collapse

Abstract: Mobile health systems in recent times, have notably improved the healthcare sector by empowering patients to actively participate in their health, and by facilitating access to healthcare professionals. Effective operation of these mobile systems nonetheless, requires high level of intelligence and expertise implemented in the form of decision support systems (DSS). However, common challenges in the implementation include generalization and reliability, due to the dynamics and incompleteness of information presented to the inference models. In this paper, we advance the use of ad hoc mobile decision support system to monitor and detect triggers and early symptoms of respiratory distress provoked by strenuous physical exertion. The focus is on the application of certainty theory to model inexact reasoning by the mobile monitoring system. The aim is to develop a mobile tool to assist patients in managing their conditions, and to provide objective clinical data to aid physicians in the screening, diagnosis, and treatment of the respiratory ailments. We present the proposed model architecture and then describe an application scenario in a clinical setting. We also show implementation of an aspect of the system that enables patients in the self-management of their conditions. Collapse

Abstract: Insider threats have gained prominence and pose the most challenging threats to a database system. In this paper, we have proposed a new approach for detecting intrusive attacks in databases by fusion of information sources and use of belief update. In database intrusion detection, only intra-transactional features are not sufficient for detecting attackers within the organization as they are potentially familiar with the day-to-day work. Thus, the proposed system uses inter-transactional as well as intra-transactional features for intrusion detection. Moreover, we have also considered three different sensitivity levels of table attributes for keeping track of the malicious modification of the highly sensitive attributes more carefully. We have analyzed the performance of the proposed database intrusion detection system using stochastic models. Our system performs significantly better compared to two intrusion detection systems recently proposed in the literature. Collapse

Abstract: A system that aggregates case-based linguistic decision rules using a hybrid of the dominance-based rough set approach (DRSA) and the Dempster–Shafer (DS) theory of evidence is proposed for multiple criterion-multiple participant sorting. First, DRSA is employed to infer linguistic decision rules that estimate the preferences of a few participants by means of their evaluations of representative case sets. Next, DS theory is applied to aggregate the decision rules triggered by all participants’ evaluations of an alternative, thereby generating an overall decision recommendation for the alternative. Abstract: This paper discusses the selection of a preferred strategy for implementing an IT infrastructure from a range of competing alternatives. The model presented here combines the use of an evidential reasoning approach based on the Dempster–Shafer theory of belief functions with real options analysis. We discuss the combined use of both theories and show that combining the Dempster–Shafer theory with real options analysis provides flexible support that takes account of the multi-dimensional nature of implementation decisions. We also go into the fundamental requirements that need to be met when selecting a strategy for implementing an IT infrastructure. We conclude by outlining a number of the model's limitations. Abstract: This study develops an alternative methodology for the risk analysis of information systems security (ISS), an evidential reasoning approach under the Dempster-Shafer theory of belief functions. The approach has the following important dimensions. First, the evidential reasoning approach provides a rigorous, structured manner to incorporate relevant ISS risk factors, related countermeasures, and their interrelationships when estimating ISS risk. Second, the methodology employs the belief function definition of risk—that is, ISS risk is the plausibility of ISS failures. The proposed approach has other appealing features, such as facilitating cost-benefit analyses to help promote efficient ISS risk management. The paper elaborates the theoretical concepts and provides operational guidance for implementing the method. The method is illustrated using a hypothetical example from the perspective of management and a real-world example from the perspective of external assurance providers. Sensitivity analyses are performed to evaluate the impact of important parameters on the model's results. Collapse
